Rank 1 needs Extra Pips

Back in the good ol' days, extra pips extending past rank 1 was a thing. Basically they allowed it so if you lost a game or de-pipped during a game, as long as you racked up a few extra pips your rank 1 wasn't in immediate danger of being lost. Now lets be honest for a second. Dead by daylight is not a very competitive game. The reward for rank 1 is you get the rank 1 badge above your head in loading lobbies. It exists purely for bragging rights and as an achievement. Thats why its upsetting that its so easy to lose. Every season I grind my way up to rank 1 purely for bragging rights because there is no other incentive to achieve rank 1. Then I go into games with my friends with that rank 1 badge above my head and I get to feel smug. But god forbid I lose 1 single game of DBD because a killer doesn't like the way I look and wants to ######### up my day. My rank is instantly gone. Sure, its easy enough to get back but its annoying to constantly be between rank 1 and 2 because of dumb luck, or because a killer tunneled me to living hell. Back in the day when extra pips were a thing on rank 1 I had incentive to continue playing after achieving rank 1 without the constant fear of losing my rank. Now when I get to rank 1, there IS no incentive to keep playing. One bad game leads to an instant de-rank. It almost feels like the devs create incentive for you to stop playing after you get to rank 1 and just wait until the next season. If ranks had actual rewards tied to them this would be an entirely different post but they don't. Rank 1 is purely for bragging rights as it stands now. Please don't make us jump through hoops between rank 1 and 2 for seemingly no reason at all. Honestly I don't even see a reason to grind for rank 1 if I'll never be able to properly maintain it.

    You maintain it by at least black pipping every game. I find that the title of rank 1 should have more meaning than just plowing through the ranks every season. It means you are consistently winning and are putting in the effort to maintain that rank.

    Except it's more frustrating to lose rank 1 if you get tunneled, your teammates farm or you get killed instantly in a game. I miss rank 1 having the 3-5 pips that it had, because it showed you got to rank 1 and kept it from going down. I would be fine with 2 safety pips even. There is no real meaning to rank 1 other than who you get paired up with. Depipping down a rank always feels awful and more frustrating than just losing a pip. With safety at least you get to stay at your earned rank 1 with the pips you earned at rank 1 and not have to hop back between rank 1 and 2. Rank 1 should always have safety pips and there was no reason to remove them.

    I agree that rank 1 should have more meaning than just plowing through the rank but right now it doesn't. If rank 1 had a reward for achieving it each season I could see removing the extra pips as being justifiable but as it stands right now all it is is a title. If its only going to be a title, it should have extra pips. If there was a reward for achieving rank 1 at the end of the season (even something small like iridescent shards) I could understand wanting to make the ranking system more competitive. But as it is right now the ranking system isn't competitive for a survivor and I don't think it should be treated as such unless changes to the ranking structure in general were implemented. I'm not against the idea of making Rank 1 mean something. Hell, I'm all for it. Its just that it doesn't mean anything right now so please, let me keep my measly title without jumping through hoops.
