Devs, How many dc's before ban?

Simple question. How many disconnects need to happen in order for a ban to be handed out? If bans are even handed out.

Banns are handed out if you pass a certain DC rate that is ridiculously high.

In fact you can DC as much as you want as long as you still play some games normally

It's a ridiculously high amount of DCs (like 40% of your games I think). Honestly, devs need to put the hammer down on this stuff. Games like TF2 have a VERY strict DC penalty. I once DCed from a comp game and got banned for a month! I'm not saying penalties that strict are needed, but maybe lower that 40% down a bit to like 15%. If you DC for legitimate reasons, then that's fine, but when it's a repeated ragequit DC, then it should be punished accordingly.

TL;DR: You need to DC a lot before you have a risk of being banned.

Whatever that number is, It should be toned down by a lot.

@Peanits In your next meeting ask if you can share? Ask if it can be lowered?

I'm surprised such a hot topic still hasn't been cracked down on super hard. DC bans should be thrown out like candy on Halloween.

    Probably very high.

It's crazy how relaxed the Devs are with stuff like this. Just look at Deranking...

As has been discussed before theres so much BS in the game that its not surprising people d/c.

Perhaps that should be worked on first.

Alright boys as I said in my other post right now, 25 dc's and nothing. The devs don't care at all about throwing.

As I understand it if you are dc'ing over a certain percentage in relation to games you play through, then its a ban.

Indeed, and bans come in waves to prevent people from figuring out exactly what triggers them (and thus how to get around them).

What @Orion said is right. We are not communicating our threshold because it leads to abuse. And we are doing bans in waves because that's what the system allows us to do at the moment. We all wish that the punishment was more strict for disconnecting but that's what we are able to do right now because of how our system registers disconnects. Hopefully we will get a better system when we migrate the game on Dedicated Servers.

If I may, I'd advise you to keep banning in waves, regardless. You don't want people to know exactly what triggers the bans.

Just wanna add a tiny note. Other than buying all the DLC-s, I don't really spend real money on stuff, like cosmetics. The only exception was when word of a ban wave against DC-ing people came out, that's when I get the kimono outfit for Spirit.

I'll continue with this policy, and I wanna encourage others to do the same. Forget about toxicity, tweaks to game balance, trash talk, racism, whatever. DC-s are so much worse.

Any plans to address the issues of why players are disconnecting? It's worse right now than when Freddy got released. Every other game someone disconnects or suicides on the hook. Isn't banning just a palliative?

I have one weird situation in mind: What if someone played 3 matches in a whole month and he DCed (on purposes) 2 times. His percentage would be over 50% and he will get banned aswell?
Compared to a streamer who plays probably 1000 matches per month and DCs probably 300 times it sounds like an unfair system for me.

@HavelmomDaS1 @The_Crusader Our numbers have a buffer for that kind of situation. And will also be adjusted depending on the number of games you play in a definite timeframe.

If you got a system for administrating bans, then you can tweak the numbers of that system to be stricter because something needs to happen NOW. The DC rate is through the roof!

Does closing the program just as the lobby ends count as a disconnect?

Because if some toxic player tries to pull a fast one and do a last second lobby change then I'm gone. I know exactly what people like that will be like in the game.

Locking survivors loadouts earlier would solve that yet its still not in the game.

@Sinner As you know we are working on Dedicated Servers and lots of changes regarding game balance. We are hoping that upcoming changes will help some of the issue we are currently facing with Disconnects. Harsher punishment for leavers is also considered but we will not change our system before we migrate on Dedicated Servers. Rewards for players with good behavior would also be something we would like to see but it is currently in the backlog.

Thanks for answering, hopefully the game balance changes you are working on will stop the survivors from disconnecting. <3

Do you guys permanent ban eventually for disconnects? Or does it cap at 1 week and perma is saved for more serious rules like cheating?

I mean technically yes, but purposely deranking to face newer and less skilled killers/survivors isn't which is another reason for the huge amount of DCs.

@Bbbrian2013 You can consult our rules here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/19450/game-rules-and-report-system#latest
Yes, at the end of the escalation, a player can be permanently banned from the game for disconnecting too often.

    I think it goes like:
    1 DC= 1 day
    2 DCs= 1 week
    3 DC's =1 month
There's no reset for this system at all, so if you DC once and then DC again 1 year from then, you still get the full week punishment. This is just for competitive tho, but it's still a strict punishment system nonetheless.

It is probably 60%. Which is insanely high.

If you're disconnecting more than 1/2 of the games then you don't need to play.

    I personally would love a 33% rate.

I might have connection issues like 1/15 games or so myself.

All I want is a quitter bonus for solo survivors if another player disconnects. It's unfair that we get boned due to someone else.

I'm guessing the issue here is that they've said before there system doesn't recognize swf or solo so they can't do that, and swf would abuse it.

Its really something I would like when we get the dedicated servers though. Sounds like a lot will be changing then.

@The_Crusader It will, in time. At first we will be concentrating on the migration of the game itself. Additional features and backlog items might come at a later date.

LMAO I actually got banned, well boys I know what I did was morally grey but it did prove one thing... Apparently the devs only ban you if you tell them what you did directly. Also we figured out what they do with their time at work instead of ya know... actually fixing/balancing their game... Shoutout to the hundreds of other players who have dc'd more than me and haven't been banned. I will admit though it was kinda deserved and is pretty funny. But they kinda in a way proved my point by banning me. @not_Queen You should ban people for dcing more often and maybe the community wouldn't be as toxic LUL

Not really it was simply sent to the team to check and you were obviously over the percentage, as Not_Queen said it is done in waves so if someone hits the percentage of DC's when that happens they will get banned.

To be fair what choice did you give them? you purposefully DC'd and made a thread about it to try and prove a point, a point the devs have stated and written down in the rules, you did prove the point in the end I suppose but you also left them no choice but to make an example of you as something like this can esculate quickly, if you were not banned you were saying to forum readers "look at me I DC'd this amount of times, its ok to DC" well they showed its not.
