He's really not very good. He's not the worst either and has some fun add ons but good teams can stomp him. I find a lot of low MMR Wraiths have an unfun playstyle.though, where they proxycamp/rush back to the hook and tunnel one person out one by one. New survivors then don't know how to deal with this. That is definitely not every wraith but I'm certain it does happen a bite more often because he's a free character, easier to pick up than the other basegame killers and a lot of newer players don't know tunneling is "frowned upon".
I remember there was once a YouTube video where a comp team went against TrueTalent and Dowsey playing Wraith (so experienced killer players) and the killers had tough time . Maybe that would be a good video to show them. That and hoping your friend goes against a god Blight or Nurse sooner rather than later. 😂

nahh wraith is not op. he's a very good fundamentals killer, though, so i think by mastering the basics of mindgames and navigating courses, he can seem like such!

Wraith stomps new players because it's hard to track him once u get mid / high skill players he struggles a lot ,,Hit and run which was one of his strongest playstyle is kinda dead because of circle so he gotta win a regular m1 killer

I wouldn't say OP. Annoying for sure with the iri add-on that silences his bell, but generally I believe it is his power that can throw people off. He's got great mobility cloaked and can really sneak up close on people that aren't paying attention. I know I've had some bad encounters staying up against a few Wraiths; there's also a decent few I have encountered who tend to slug for the 4k, even in the early game.
If you're giving tips to pass along to help them counter Wraith, I would recommend to use Flashbang in their if you didn't mention it! It's quicker on getting Lightburn stuns vs flashlights if he wants something to fight back with.

That i see the day Wraith gets called OP.
*sheds a tear*
No, Wraith is anything but OP.

I mean... I've once had a team call Trapper OP. We were on a corn map. "But we can't see your traps in the grass." I'm not gonna lie, I actually took a screenshot of this because it felt like such a rare and special occasion. 😂

No, he has strong add-ons but at the end of the day he’s a M1 killer.

He is not OP but he is ridiculously easy to use, have strong addons and doing well against a group of average soloQs result in a 4k a lot of times causing the feeling of being very strong. I usually play Solo Q and he is one of the killers in which I have the highest percentaje of loses when playing against him.

Awwww, how precious and innocent <3

Nah, any killer that is m1 can't be op. The only killer's that are actually op are nurse when she is running a strong build and blight when he is running a strong build plus a couple of his op add-ons which is really only 2 or 3. Though tbf alch ring is pretty fair when put up against strong survivor's running strong stuff, there is a reason the blight in otz's video on that huge win streak was running c33 and green speed.
Side note, there are a lot of killer's that only leave one option for counterplay.

Not op, just annoying depending on the map. Also very boring to play for me so I dont really care for him tbh

I think the reason people complain about wraith is that he is extremely punishing to new players and people who can't run chase to well.
He is effective and can pressure gens well with his movement speed while cloaked. But when he uncloaks all you gotta do is be near a pallet or vault and you can get distance on him to run a proper chase. A wraith will struggle against a team who really know what they're doing.
1 -
I wouldn't say he is OP, but I do think he needs to not have collision when cloaked. The amount of Wraits that body block you as you try to move past them then get a hit in is annoying. Especially if the likes of starstruck or Noed is active too.
0 -
Well if you run into a invisible wraith don't try to squeeze by him just turn around and try to a different loop better then getting hit
2 -
He need a power cooldown after a succesfull hit. Because people just cheese cloak speed and you have to be near safe pallet or tile to actually counter him.

The bing bong man has a few weaknesses. He’s certainly a naughty thing though. Skilled wraiths can be troubling but you’ll figure it out.

If someone says "x killer is OP" just respond with "x survivor is OP too" . Thats about the same logic. I cant help a dime playing nurse or land shots with Deathslinger, but when im playing freddy noone is safe. And if it is Gideon map its alredy a win. Because gideon has so many pallets? no ofc not. But because i know that map as if it was my home. (which also means i dont need aura perks i know where survivors are all the time, which too means alredy BIG advantage) I could walk it in my sleep and with fake pallets paired it becomes hell for survivors, WHILE im playing my main killer on top of that too.
Ofc generally some killers have better mechanics than others, but practice is all it takes to get good with one, so yeah. "OP" is over generalized.

Wraith is not op
1 -
Nowhere near. Even before his nerf, nowhere near. He's supposed to be a stealth killer but he really isn't. You cannot hit a survivor without uncloaking. That means they can vault a window, or run away as you're slowed down from uncloaking, and you can't really do anything. Try running Wraith with purple Windstorm and purple Swift Hunt, and then running him without those add-ons. You'll see what I mean. I can't play him without those add-ons because it is absolutely insufferable vs good survivors. The only people who complain about Wraith are the inexperienced, full stop.

Nah. He will always crush weaker/newer survivors but he’s not OP by any means
1 -
Remember when he had his lunge?
Suddenly he was OP, even according to the devs calling him a wee bit OP 🤷🏼♂️
Sure in the right hands he can be deadly, but there weren't many good wraith players when i was still playing.
So i never understood the complaints him being OP, i find it more about a refusal to understand and learn how to counter him.
2 -
Easy peasy, never used windstorm when i was still playing and never had the urge to use it.
Most of the times i was able to win my matches with him, even faced a comp squad and got 6 hooks 1 kill.
That was even before he was given his lunge buff.
But as i said in a previous reply to someone, he can be deadly in the right hands but that happens very rarely.
So still far from being OP, in fact he never was actually OP.
Like you said it is due to inexperience or people who refuse to learn to ay against him

If your friend gets good at this game, get to high MMR he will lose the respect for Wraith. This killer is only feared by new players and low MMR players. Good survivors fear Nurse, Blight and Spirit.
1 -
Nah, wraith isn't OP. With his silent bell add-on he can get free hits on some places in indoor maps, but he is very weak in chase and struggles to counter strong loops effectively.
Cloaking and following a survivor during chase to block a pallet/window or just to catch up is incredibly effective against newer and lesser experienced players though, and a lot of wraiths do it, so maybe that's why your friend thinks wraith is OP?

as a lot of people said he is a noob stomper, i disliked him too when i was newer, and was playing him as killer as well. so your friend should be fine with him once they get more experienced, they should actually be able to loop him rather than holding w into nothing or hiding, since hiding won't really work if they don't know where he is

I think wraith is bit underrated he is pretty decent. Im actually like 20 wins streak with him trying to reach iri 1 grade but it is difficult as double pips are basically removed (last kill does not count in emblems and stats). I have to win another 10 in a row to reach iri 1 as im iri 3. I have rarely tunneled in this streak as it's not optimal for pipping and I have beat survivors even in eyric of crows and garden of pain maps. But I do tunnel when it's neccesary and know my hooks. But most games I have 6-8 hooked before finishing anyone off.
1 -
No, he dosen't suck anymore but he's nowhere close to op
1 -
Wraith is a noob stomper, but drops off precipitously against better players.
I may be wrong, but I recall Tru3talent once made the case that Wraith was low key super strong, but got stomped by tournament players while testing that theory.

Far from OP
0 -
You’re alright and I have to disagree with your friend. Wraith like you said and everyone else, Wraith is pretty balanced. I say he’s pretty good to loop around with and whatnot. So yeah he’s not overpowered.
1 -
I agree but honestly I respect Spirit way less than 2019, she's still strong but she can be beaten way more consistently than Nurse and Blight. Nurse and Blight without addons are a threat, without Blossom or MDR I don't really feel that same level of threat with Spirit anymore after the rework
1 -
He can seem OP because he's a solo queue stomper. Silent bell + 4 slowdowns will win you most games. On the flip side, a good SWF love facing Wraith.

Wraith is very far from OP.
0 -
wee bit op*
0 -
That's a part of what makes him decent. That's like saying a Myers is annoying because pops tier 3 when he's directly behind you. Thats how you have to play the character to get the most value of their power.
1 -
As I said. I think he sits in mid-tier, comfortably. He's not one of the very good killers but also not terrible. His kit is not super stealthy but he has more movement ability than other stealth killers.
He does have some great add ons, especially with his double iridescent he basically has a fifth perk - pre rework Tinkerer.
This also makes him reliable and he is in my opinion one of the slightly less map dependent killers. Interestingly enough I also wanted to get Grade I this month. I often let people go normally so I don't pip consistently enough in Iri ranks. I played most of it on the Dredge. I enjoy him and I'm comfortable with his kit but I don't think it's a secret that he struggles a lot in certain maps. I eventually got to a point where every game was sweaty and I just wanted to get it done I switched to Wraith because I was less hurt by RNG than I am with a killer like Dredge. He's not really my favourite killer to play in terms of fun but he is reliable.
Having said that I also noticed that against good teams he does need good gen slowdown - 2-3 perks as he simply does not end chases quite as quickly as others. Also I found that most teams will start spotting some of his better add ons (silent bell, bone clapper) by having a spotter around the gen as we get 2-3 gens left. This is of course if you insist on not tunneling, I don't usually hook the same person twice in a row until we have one gen left - when I do then I genuinely forgot. 😂 This means there's usually four people left to do one gen although most of them are on death hook. Wraith is not as well equipped to deal with that as other killers are.
Good luck with your endeavour, I do think you can do it on Wraith. ☺️ His sweatiest build, I find, is Call of Brine, Overcharge, Eruption, Oppression with double Iri. I totally did use that for the last two games. Just needed to get it over with. Brought Party streamers to say sorry though. 😂🙈
