A Solution

So. After some deliberation between friends, playing other games, judging the Knight before he is even released, and then a few drinks.

A solution has been theorized. Pulled straight from the Rocket League competitive rules even.

Make it where if one survivor DCs, all others are able to leave the match with no penalty.

Think of how well this works in the way DBD is played: one person DCs because they get downed within the first minute, so now it is a 3V1 for the remaining survivors. That isn't much of a match, and really shouldn't be treated as such. Pull what Rocket League does and simply make it where the remaining survivors are able to leave without penalty. It allows the remaining survivors to move onto their next match, the killer to do the same so they can experience an ACTUAL match, and keeps the brunt of the penalty onto the one who initially pulls the plug, so that only those who are continually leaving matches are the ones who actually suffer while all others involved have an out without a penalty just by association.

Say what you will, but for Rocket League this system works perfectly, as only those who actively hurt their teammates get punished. Why should the remaining players have to suffer in the match due to the actions of one?
