Ghostface is the most unfun killer to go against in the game
His reveal mechanic is so wonky and frustrating. You're mid chase with him as a survivor, you're staring dead at his soul, and the game refuses to expose. 5 seconds later, you're fully exposed. Worse yet, he's leaning around a corner with his entire body dangling off, you're hiding behind cover trying to reveal him, you get exposed, he doesn't get revealed. There is nothing engaging about going up against this killer. A Ghostface that knows how to abuse the reveal mechanic can mark you midchase and there is nothing you can do about it. I really wish BHVR would just rework him or remove him from the game entirely, nothing of value would be lost.

Fun is subjective but I get it, I find GF very annoying to face but I can tolerate him.
It just annoys me that I can see him clearly, I can even stop and turn to face him and he can still expose me. I also hate that he can expose me from further away than I can reveal him and the entire reveal thing seems so inconsistent.
For me unfun is Trickster, Pinhead or Legion (I would say Twins but thankfully never see them) but I do understand why people hate GF and his janky reveal mechanic

Don't worry. If you play AS Ghost Face you will get revealed behind walls.

Both playing (recently) as and (often) against ghostface. Yes the reveal mechanics is just so stupid. Sometimes I reveal him without even knowing he's there when looking at the exact opposite direction he is in. Other times I look directly into his soul and nothing happens. So inconsistent

It takes a precise angle to reveal the Ghosty boy.
This is in no way a problem.
Moreover ghosty has no map control.
Like all M1 killers, it must tunnel, slug, and take 1 small NOED/Startruck to maximize its power.
Finally if you play Ghosty boy you will understand that he is not as strong as you think, but as always most of the people who complain about a killer never play him.

Try playing him... you'll notice how easy it is to reveal him. I get revealed through walls and other stuff nowdays. They made it so easy to reveal him its impossible to stay stealthed.
He is literally one of the weakest killers out there and i rarely see him. Now due to the tome i see them more often but escaping against them is pretty simple unless they are thousand hour GF mainers.

play him yourself and then tell me revealing him is too hard.

it's not about how hard it is. I agree it's easy. The problem is, that the game is so damn inconsistent.

I imagine that the mechanism of discovery for ghostface shrouds is very difficult to reconcile.
I agree that it is a bit difficult to understand the logic behind his reveal. It would be frustrating if we were discovering him on the screen but could not neutralize the shroud.
But it goes without saying that making discovery too easy also makes him unplayable. It should not be obvious just because he was caught on the edge of a survivor's wide TPS camera, when in fact he was not recognized. Here is the difficult question.
As someone else said, I think part of the reason is that his physical is a standard M1 killer... I don't think hiding to avoid activating the detection mechanism is abuse.
However, I can lean on your sentiment that it is not attractive to confront.
Just so you know, this discussion is in the Feedback category.
It might be helpful for you to discuss what kind of rework he could undergo to make it more attractive to both parties. If you have a good exchange of ideas, why not propose that rework to BHVR?

It's an "asymmetrical" game

so powers should work assymetrically? one time it works too unfairly against killer and 2nd time unfairly against survivor?
What I meaned by inconsistent is, that sometimes I don't have him on screen or I have in on an edge so I don't really see him & yet I reveal him. Other times he takes up 80% of my screen and I look directly at him & yet I can't reveal him. That is not cool. (But I don't care that much, because the game has much bigger problems then this)

Another "pls ghostface is op pls nerf" when he is a stealth killer, and said kind of killer are not a huge deal. I mean, why don't you just leave or fully break the line of sight if he is stalking you? Man, complaining about nurse is something I can get to understand to a certain extent, but this is kinda pointless.

If you end up minimizing your own discussion topic, what is the point of creating this discussion in the first place ?
Otherwise the killers who pose real problems are only Nurse and Bubba.

Please tell me where OP says that they want ghostface nerfed???

My god, hahahaha. Got mixed up between posts srry.

I play him quite a bit, I never get revealed by the person I'm chasing if I don't want to be. It's as easy as hiding behind a small prop, and peeking in and out of cover to get some stalk in. Either the person leaves and I can 99 them, or they stay in the tile and I have them fully exposed within ~10 seconds. The only time I'll get revealed midchase is when someone else is doing it from behind me or so. The mechanics pertaining to the killer are wonky as hell, and can be very punishing to deal with. I think there should be some penalty to the killer beyond simply having to wait out the cooldown for his power. If you're the one to reveal him, your stalk meter should reset entirely. Getting 99'd midchase, revealing him, then getting exposed fully when he pops his power in your face and downs you instantly doesn't create for very engaging gameplay.
Asymmetrical doesn't excuse inconsistency or improper functionality of a killer's power. All it means is both sides play differently. It doesn't excuse any flaw in design. It would be like excusing gens sometimes not showing visual progress to a killer, or giving audio cues, because asymmetrical gameplay. It's a non-argument.

I know he can be revealed while leaning, but I think most of the time to get the prompt to lean, both of your feet have to be behind the corner, meaning the character model is completely behind the corner (I assume that his "capsule" stays behind the wall, and when he leans the capsule stays put and only his model moves). So unless he's angled when leaning, like 20-45 degrees to the wall he's leaning from you won't be able to reveal him.

You shouldn't rely on revealing him though. Most of the time I get downs via GF because survivors keep standing still right in front of me trying to reveal me, or even succeeding in revealing me, and I get free hits on them. I've had entire games where I snowball without successfully exposing a single survivor, because survivors either get cocky or end up messing around trying to reveal me.
If survivors would just play against ghostie like any other M1 killer and run away and play the loops, they'd have nothing to worry about.
My worst games as Ghostface are when survivors loop me for the entire duration of the Exposed, which is more than possible with no mobility or anti-loop power at all.
You're better off getting Exposed and looping, than standing there and giving me a free hit and injuring you.

being exposed and injured is the same thing for me (yes I don't use DH). The difference is, that I can see your red stain. In chases this is super important and useful. You have no idea how often it helps me - especially in shack because red light goes over the wall - so by looking at the shape of it you can even know when the killer moonwalks.

I'll trade you all your Bubbas for my Blights. Deal?

Ghostface is one of my FAVORITE killers to play as. I get revealed easy at times

My daily life with GhostFace :
When I play AGAINST him : I can follow him for 10s WITHOUT revealing him 🤣🤣 OR if I don't want to revealing him, all I have to do is look at the half a quarter of the beginning of the fraction on the end of its smallest strip to instantly reveal him 😂😂
When I play AS : as soon as I put a toe out of a hiding place, I get revealed by the 4 survivors, the 4 other survivors of the previous lobby, the killer of the previous lobby, their parents, mine, and my cat 🤣🤣🤣

That about sums it up for me too 😂

Not wrong dude. GF is poorly designed killer and Im always on edge to dc against him

His wonky reveal is terrible. I was hoping they'd fix it when they worked on him but it actually feels way worse/inconsistent than it did before.

I hate MM even more tbh
