Dead by Daylight HAS to go F2P at this rate.

With all these predatory changes that have been made to monetization in the game, it’s starting to look less like a $20 game and more like a free game that you have to spend $20 on just to play.

Skins that have been in the shop for OVER A YEAR suddenly becoming timed exclusives for no reason, even with 99% of the community being against it. I mean you literally went back ON YOUR OWN WORDS saying that exclusives would no longer be a thing, and yet here you are making more. What a ######### disgrace.

Are you developing Dead by Daylight, or a $20 Fortnite?

I hope not. Fall Guys changing into a F2P was so bad for customers that got it full price.

I mean its been in gamepass for like 4 years at this point, so it already kinda is.

I really hope it doesn't go Free 2 Play. At least not without like a separate game mode that only the paid people can access. Like making a perkless, base killer (Trapper, Billy, Nurse, Huntress etc), peer to peer (so dedicated servers aren't wasted on the F2P peeps), non licensed maps mode that free people can play. And then having the current game be a mode behind the paywall of the full game. That way people can experience the game for free but I don't have to worry about an influx of cheaters to my normal play. If this game goes full free to play without the best anti cheat on planet EARTH I stop playing. EAC is FAR from that btw.

Sure lets make the game even worse by allowing people to create an unlimited number of throwaway accounts with which to cheat with.

If cheating wasn’t as a big a thing as it is, then sure.

    Not now, though.

Dude, chill it's a skin. You like it buy it, don't like it don't buy it. You genuinely have something deeper going on to react like this.

I expect it will go F2P, but I agree that the pricing and model already feels F2P.

Who's forcing you to buy a skin? What is that mentality?

How many times I have to say... If you don't like the skin, it doesn't matter if it's limited or not, you're not going to buy it anyway.

If you do like it, you have the WHOLE MONTH to buy it. What is the problem?

If the problem is that you have to wait till the season come up... Well... Excuse me, it's just a skin. It's not affecting your gameplay, just keep enjoying the game till you have a chance to buy it.

I bet you guys it's the first time you're seeing limited (seasonal) outfits... That is no other way.

God forbid bHVR turns a profit on this game, right?

Not all countries can afford to buy a seasonal/time-limited skin

I don't get that they are preying on a vulnerable demographic that has no impulse control. If you have bad Impulse control like I do and you see that you start to have a problem with a certain game or something like this you need to either hold it together or just don't play it. You know why I stopped with genshin because I am a sucker for gatcha and when I saw I was putting more and more money into it I quit. Is it easy to do it and does it need training? Sure it does but that's a thing you need to do for yourself and you can't just put that burden onto other people and say stop doing business cause I can't control myself.

Maybe bhvr just needs to try another method of getting money or the share holders will cancel the game would not be the first time something like this happens.

The main thing I don't get with this is you guys don't Tage on a bar selling beer when recovering alcoholics exist. You say dude don't go there. If a new bar opens in your street you can't just say no leave me alone you either live with it or go

The Mummy skin for Dwight and the skin for Jane that were during Halloween were temporary, also 5 New Year's skins will end their existence in early January.

The 20$ buy-in helps curb bots and means that any bots created (or alt accounts for hacks), fund DBD instead of only being a persistent drain.

Could the buy-in be lowered at some point? Maybe.

Yeah, the game consistently being in the top percentile of played games on Steam charts/viewable console metrics regardless of whatever controversy is afflicting it at any given time really highlights the necessity for the game to go F2P.

For some countries (where there are sanctions) it is doubly bad if you do not buy now, then just wait for the next appearance in the store.

It's incredibly scummy and predatory, yeah. As someone with ADHD, these tactics target people like me and other individuals with gambling addictions and impulse issues. It makes me regret buying the rift pass for this season at all. I wanted to get the second RE chapter but now I hesitate wondering if this is going to further incentivize BHVR to pull stunts like this.

Also, hoping the game doesn't go F2P to avoid cheaters isn't a good reason to keep it at 20 bucks. The base price doesn't deter cheaters from getting new accounts -- they can easily buy new ones for a handful of dollars at most, or just get a new free one themselves. And "it's just cosmetic" is ALWAYS the trojan horse companies use to start shoving more and more aggressive monetization tactics into their games.

Cosmetics matter in a game as repetitive and simple as DBD. People want customization. Otherwise BHVR wouldn't be pouring so many resources into creating so many of them every month.

I was gonna say...this is starting to sound like FFXIV lol. They do far worse, they have a very expensive sub if you aren't legacy (If you get all the retainers) and have an online shop. if you miss an in-game event, you have to wait one year to be able to purchase them on the Mog Station. Then they have Mog Station (Their online store) exclusive items...and people buy it. People spend $40.00 for a mount, which isn't faster and doesn't do anything different, it's just a skin.

Game companies do this because they can get away with it. People spend the money and they know it, so they take advantage of that.

I've got quite a lot of things in DBD, the last thing I am waiting for is if they EVER put in Clarie's other outfits in-game, or Jill's RE5 outfit, omg I would kill for that. Other than that, I don't really play anyone but Lisa and Claire, so not much to buy, but I am not liking this FOMO stuff. I don't give into it, if I want something, I buy it, if not, I don't. It's that simple. I bought a lot of the sweaters when I started in August because I liked them, if they weren't there and I had to wait, then I guess I'd just wait when they pull this stuff. Bleh.
