SADAKO has literally 0 power
with a buff like the wraith getting speed when she appear and a invisibility when manifested i mean when she chase some survivor she keep flickering but with more time so surv will don't know what side she'll come from to get him , 1s or 2s invi

Tell that to all the people who play her and all the survivors from her killrate
People like to pretend she's bad because they treat this game like esports and lost to a couple of SWFs with her - but the truth is, she's fun to play and very good against most casuals (which is a majority of the survivor playerbase)
24 -
No way.
Have you watched the movie?

But... she is bad? Played 'normally', Condemned won't even come into it because the only way it builds up is that slow†. Her stealth is amongst the worst of all stealth killers, because she still has a lullaby to announce her presence and is intermittently visible even before she very slowly manifests.
Her primary ability is some minor ability to mindgame loops a little more (which doesn't even entirely make up for the manifestation), and arguably the worst teleport power of everyone in the game that has one, because the targets always point away from generators and can be entirely disabled (and will stay off for up to 100s if she dares touch it). Although she's able to chain them unlike Freddy, but the per-spot cooldown is worse than his overall cooldown, so...
For the overwhelming majority of her gameplay, she's a barebones M1 Killer that's expected to do hit and run but can have all her map pressure turned off.
† Someone basically needs to run from TV to TV without ever addressing it and having Sadako teleport to all of them. Otherwise, if the cooldown cycles and player locations sync up wrong, you get it taking 12+ minutes to possibly come into it, by which point the game is almost definitely over.

She has literally the highest killrate across all MMRs. And every time I come up againstbone they are mad good, stealth killer with teleportation. And a very small profile, plus flickering in and out causes survs to make a lot of mistakes in chase.
3 -
And Nurse has basically the lowest. Looking at killrates in isolation is meaningless without looking at why that might be.

Watch: https://www.twitch.tv/onepumpwillie if you want to get goop at playing Sadako.
Hes so excellent at it.
0 -
She's still better than Freddy.
2 -
Sadako's only source of power is a condemned play style that the devs themselves in a live said int something she's supposed to force as a way of getting kills. It's a passive slowdown to look out for. It's the same philosophy of afk Pig which got nerfed for a reason.
2 -
freddy exist.

I'd be happy to see her buffed if Iri Tape was removed, that add-on is insane reward for literally 0 risk
0 -
I mean wraith is just as bad against good survivors... I mean he was nerfed alot for some reason.
Shes not the worst but shes definitely a killer where alot feels it should just be basekit and not addons.
Shes just a weak killer like alot of the roster and I cant imagine any buffs happening as every killer gets nerfed even if they werent that strong (freddy, wraith, billy, slinger etc.)
0 -
Honestly, the thing should be basekit. I dunno, remove the TVs automatically coming on? If your entire thing is teleporting near to people and doing hit and run, it shouldn't come with a 100s timer even if people don't bother turning the bloody things off.
4 -
she is bad though. killrates dont mean #########, nurse has the lowest but does that make her bad?
1 -
don't forget trapper!
considering how most trapper games go it is very easy to do so
0 -
Yeah but Knight and Twins are bugged to have LITERALLY no power while Trapper has a power, it's just horseshit.
0 -
I wouldn't take killrate too seriously.
You can't look at her kit while comparing to the other killers and say she is fine and decently strong lol.
0 -
I have to strongly disagree, the only thing stopping Sadako being the second most infuriating killer to play against is the fact that Iri Tape isn't basekit. If anything I'd be happy for them to just reduce the cooldown of each TV to like 60 seconds instead.
2 -
Then she'd need something to do in chase, because "I can get into chases in an area but after that I'm just an M1 killer who has the worst vision over loops of everyone" is not a functional powerset.

I may not be a good survivor but I rarely escape Sadako and most games end up being a 4K. I have never played her as killer but to me she seems really strong. I have never watched vids on how to counter Sadako so maybe that could help me.
1 -
hold w
Oh, and if you get one tape, you can go around turning off as many TVs as you like to build up condemned, then deposit your tape to reduce it. Creating a deadzone where she can't teleport in chase or even get over is entirely possible (and thus her reliance on the iri tape offering)
0 -
Sadako isnt that bad, but I think two of her addons should be Basekit:
Old Newspaper (brown) and the Watch (Yellow). On top of it, Condemn is building up while u are near a TV and u have to interact to lower it (Passive Increase like Virus-Infection).
0 -
She already does, her flickering in and out of appearance when manifesting is more effective than you might think on quite a lot of loops, it isn't like Spirit's passive phase where she glitches around for a split second. She will disappear for enough time for the survivor to become unsure of which direction you're actually going.
2 -
Right, definitely not the fact that people only play her with her condemned slugging playstyle
0 -
Preach! Lol
0 -
This overly-simplistic argument hardly indicates why she's stronger than people claim she is, as they definitely don't "only" do this. Obviously it exists, but I personally have never faced this Sadako for example, and I'm sure others haven't either.
I'm not pretending she's the best, or even top 3, but again - most people who play this game aren't in the "top 1% mmr" that apparently everyone on this forum is, which in turns make her stronger to most casuals who play.
2 -
Iri Tape doesn't even fix that issue though. It turns on the last 4 TVs that were teleported to- any turned off by survivors don't (or shouldn't, anyway) turn back on.
3 -
Oh yeah, forgot it was just the ones you teleported to. Does help her a little if she teleports around before someone goes around deactivating half her power set for the next minute, though.
0 -
That is a very incorrect opinion.
Sadako doesn't have an overwhelming ability, like Nurse, but she has her power and is damn well capable of holding her own against Survivor teams.
All it takes are a few matches to learn.
1 -
I play as her a lot, and don't use the condemned style (I play her straight up hit and run/jumpscare) and I do pretty damned well...to a point.
She is an absolute noob slayer for sure, but to succeed with her against better players, you have to lean into the condemned style, which isn't much fun, really.
In spite of her kill rate, I think she needs a fair bit of help.
That said, I have 4-5 killers squarely below her on my tier list, maybe 6-7.

onepumpwillies is sadako main that recently discovered that iri-tape is so strong that you can use her TV only and not slug at all but still condemn survivors more reliably with bloody finger nails with iri tape. Its interesting because I used to use bloody finger nails+ring drawing because I would run out of iri tapes to play her. so in truth, you can actually play her without slugging.
I found it to be unrewarding because I felt like I was killing survivors using in-animate objects(TV exclusively) where the hits meant nothing and condemn stacks meant everything. Its my pet-peeve with playing Michael Myer's tombstone and head-pop pig. I dislike how other two killers have so little agency on how well they play and how much agency is put into staring at survivors & automatic instant kill system of jigsaw boxes. I like the act of hunting for my power to be super effective through my smart play instead of letting the power do everything for me automatically. Sadako is closest thing to earning an over-time mori in the game.
the dev balance off kill-rates. sadako in all-mmr chart has 63% kill-rate which is among top 3 killers in the game. in top 5% mmr chart, she was in top 9 killers(61%). dev do balance exclusively off kill-rate, hence why sadako is not getting any changes.
She has timed flickering at loops. Its just not very good at base-kit. I somewhat showcase a image when she was released about this strength. Otz made a video about where he talks about Reiko's watch. If you use Reiko's watch+News paper add-on, you can time your flicker in a loop and just as flicker ends, you can briefly extend it by manifesting(de-cloaking) to get one long string of invisibility. Its pretty gimmick anti-loop because her invisibility has directional ringing which tells you which way sadako went but less attentive survivors(lesser skilled) will get confused. Otz made video about Reiko's watch but I cannot find it for some reason. She does have potential chase power, but as usual, her base-kit balance is not very good.
0 -
The flickering is also a complete pain to keep track of when playing. You have... hands to look at. Hands. That's all you have to go on, at the edge of your screen, in a chase.

^ this.
Sadako is not even bad. Whenever I play her, I have a good result AND have a lot of fun playing her. And in general, every Killer can win against the majority of Survivors.
1 -
"All it takes are a few matches to learn."
This is the important part IMO.
I always have a good time when playing Sadako and decent results. And I think it is totally fine that her power is more on the simple side, not every Killer needs an overcomplicated Power.
Obviously, it cannot be expected that she is as strong as Blight or Wesker, who are both more complicated to play, but I think this is fine for a power which is easy to pick up.
1 -
its part of her skill-cap. Its just at base-kit, the duration of invis for both periodic invisibility and the manifest invisibility is non-existent. As a result, the skill-cap for her ability barely exists without add-on's. It is little bit like spirit phase-walk without the spirit phase-walk speed. Once again, Lots of potential for interesting survivor gameplay. All wasted though as always.
0 -
There are good and bad ways to introduce skill caps.
A bad way is 'the only cue we put in for you to use this thing in mind-games is some subtle visuals in your peripheral vision'. Using this flickering is good.

Ah, it is good to see you, old friend.
I am happy to know that we are in agreement, once again.
1 -
But kill rates at high mmr is just 2% lower than on overall mmr. What do you think why that is?
0 -
because dbd doesn't actually have the most granular MMR ever, and bizarre things like the condemned build are effective, but they're also not the way the Killer is actually designed to be played so it's really a matter of time (maybe a long time, but a matter of time).
0 -
I actually had it switched around in my memory, her kill rate in high mmr is a little bit lower, but not much. However, a killer with a 60%+ kill rate in high mmr hardly seems unviable to me.
0 -
majority of the player base is casual?
in what world exactly?
and every weak killer is "fun" to play against because they can't do anything about your broken perks or addons
0 -
Yes, the majority of players is very casual. If you want to treat DBD like an e-sports, you can do so. Or find a game which is actually more capable of being played like an e-sports game.
Furthermore, fun or unfun is not determined by the strength. Cant believe people still think that "weak killer = fun" and "strong killer = unfun" is true. LIke, playing against Wesker is fun. Playing against Freddy is now. So Wesker is weak and Freddy is strong?
1 -
In the real world where most people don’t play for 3-6+ hours a day.
And I said “fun to play”, not “fun to play AGAINST”, but something tells me a person who calls survivor perks and addons “broken” in a sweeping generalized statement wouldn’t be swayed by that difference anyway.
1 -
oh im sorry
adrenaline is balanced
CoH is balanced, brand new parts are balanced, no no all of the most used survivor perks are extremely balanced and killer should just get gid
you know 2 Coh in one map and you got no time to remove them, SKILL ISSUE
dead hard near the pallet has no counter play, skill issue
clearly nothing is broken or out of the ordinary
something tells me you never touched a low tier killer before
0 -
is that why the majority of people dc against wesker, nurse or even huntress, while they bully myers or pig players?
clearly strength has nothing to do with it
0 -
🤦♀️ That's all y'all can say. "The kill rate." Knowing full well that half those kills came from bad survivors, DCs, and that one niche build that needs a pink add-on to work.
2 -
The "I'm crawling out of the TV" animation is so slow, and faces you to a wall half the time, to where the speed boost barely breaks even. Same with Wraith. Good luck getting any hits out of it.
1 -
You mean people don't actually go against SWFs with a combined 30k hours every match? The delusional portion of the DBD killer community totally had me fooled!
0 -
Faced maybe 1 box afk Pig when it was still a thing. I knew exactly what to do against it because I'm actually in the community and know stuff as I talk about balance, and because it's similar gameplay to a tunneling Pig. Tunneling Pig, you do all the gens, all leave so the last guy with the head trap on gets hatch. Afk box Pig, you 99 the gens, do 5 pretty much one after the other, and then same as before. Hatch allows the head trapped person to escape. If it's Deadlock + the add-on that takes time off each time a gen is done, or 2 people had the same box she's afk at, oh well. But it wasn't like "omg, this is so game breaking, more than Nurse!"
