its again camping

So I had pretty bad game against pyramid head. Down survivor-> hook-> and stand there with with M2 ready. dread lock so we cant rush gens. In the end 1 escape with hatch.

Than I looked at his steam profile. Over 150 pages of -rep blabla bla. Why people play like this?

Simple answer, they want to win, and with how strong surv can get, if you want to win, you need to play very tryhard. And because of this, and the loose mmr, casuals get caught up in the cross-fire.

Why would you face camp as a pH??

    That's just really basic.

  • You can camp with every killer. In my opinion, healthy survivors should not get grabbed so killers are not rewarded for literally facecamping. I am replying to this just after another depressing match. It was legion and after first chase wich was pretty short he just standed infront of hook.

2 survivors went for save after 40 sec. Unfortunatly he was able to grab one and the second one went down during unhook.

To wrap it quickly, grabbed survivor DCed and downed survivor immidiatly killed himself on hook. Only me and 1st downed survivor left.

I went down, was hooked and legion proceed by staring at me on hook from very close range.

WHY WHY WHY? 4 gens left and he proceed to facecamp me. In the end we ended up with 3k-8k points. Managed to do 1 and half gen. Killer had 25k points.

I think its extremly unhealthy mechanic grabbing healthy survivors during unhooking animation. Killers should just take the trade 1 for 1 if he wants to camp.

Camping has never been less rewarding than it is now.

That said - when I first started out, I was a camper. Because it's a tactic that makes sense and yields results.

Not everyone knows that it goes against the game's 'etiquette' and with how toxic people in this game can be, it generally just comes over as 'I lost' salt.

That said, with baseline BT and speed, you should be able to out-trade a PH. The only campers that are nearly impossible to counter are Bubba and maybe Ghosty.

EDIT - Yes, hook grabs are dumb and need to be removed. But that's another discussion.

    Also - this.

I swear, if I had a dollar for every group that has someone instantly DC/suicide on the first down and then call me sweaty postgame, I'd be able to afford takeout this week.

I'm glad that isn't the case because then there would be no defense to stop a unhooking, especially if it's a Hook Rush tactic. I have gotten a few hook grabs from greedy Survivors that wanted to unhook while I was chasing them.

Also that would give a major advantage to Survivors at end game where the only option left for Killers is to camp the Survivor they hooked.

It is playing to win, as winning is about kills. If you can get 3+ kills, it's a win, and if that strat gives those kills, the killer wins. Most killers do these things for the win, based on what I've seen. Very respectful, in end game, and all that, as long as survs are respectful.

    Is it?

I know people can overexagurate about camping but i wouldn't say it's less rewarding then ever

In the past gens took 10 seconds less and you did 't have passive slowdown like deadlock

Can you explain why it's less rewarding now?

In the past, you could instantly knock down the unhooked person unless they had BT, as well as killing the rescuer. Now, if the rescuer plays it right, they can trade - and you've got perks like OTR and Solidarity that make it even harder.

There are some exceptions (Bubba...) but yeah.

I don't think that makes it less rewarding, it just makes it slightly harder to pull off. It's more rewarding than its ever been due to the aforementioned passive gen slowdown and the increased gen time, basically nerfing the one and only counter.

  • Camped again on first hook by billy. What a fun game.

Gens haven't slowed down too much, especially when you factor in stuff like PTS, Hyperfocus etc. The answer to camping is a bit different now at least, in that you can trade effectively.

Unless it's a Bubba, but that's another topic.

The answer to camping used to be 'just leave the person to die, while you slam gens'. The answer now is more like 'slam gens, and when the person is getting close to death run in, unhook and replace them'.

It's still not perfect, but - as BHVR themselves have said - it's very hard to 'fix' in a way that doesn't break the rest of the game.

Hook grabs are supposed to be dangerous. You dont think Myers could grab a healthy survivor and hold on to them? You are vulnerable just like when you are at a gen…..why don’t they just have a mode for survivors in that all they have to do is run around doing a fashion show and gens at their leisure with no killer at all?

  • Its mechanics which promotes camping for killers which cannot instadown like Bubba. For some people its unimaginable to go into map after hooking survivor.

I have no problem with camping when gens are done, but this should not be possible when gens are not finished.

Grabbing healthy survivor from gens is not problem at all. Interupting unhooking by hitting them is fine also.

The worst thing is when killer grabs you and immidiatly drops you so he can continue camp hook and slug at once.
