Friendly Reminder For Everyone...
Remember to show good sportsmanship in DBD. If you win or lose, try and remain positive and communication fluently in Post-Game Chat or Console Chat Groups. If you have nothing good to say, just say "GG" or "GGWP" and move on.
Always remember, that even if someone played a way you didnt like, rather it be the Killer or Survivors, that they are only human. People go through stuff and struggle sometimes, being overly aggressive and sending threats or hate speech is not only against TOS but does have an impact upon people; so use that impact to be positive and meaningful.
With someone with anxiety issues, seeing Post-Game Chat blow up with positivity from everyone is one of the best experiences in DBD; it can help, a lot. Just remember that.
(This post isnt directed at a particular side of DBD, since toxic people exist in all areas of the game.)

I feel like I keep having to post this but it keeps just being perfect sooooo....
Something a lot of people need reminding often. Would I like it if everybody played "Sportingly" and nobody did anything jerkish? Of course. But not everybody is going to play that way and there's no reason to get yourself all worked up over it. It's only game, why you hafta be mad?
Also as I feel like I VERY clearly demonstrated in a previous thread about mental health, there are times when I need this reminder just as much as anyone else.

Preach !
There's nothing nicer than a good healthy endgame chat. Having experienced much toxicity in the game, most people are wary of saying nice things in endgame chat by fear of getting "ggez" or insulted in return.
But I've taken to often complimenting my opponents or checking up on them after rough games and the response is overwhelmingly positive. When shown kindness, most players relax and will be positive as well. For some people, it goes a very long way.
I've been encouraged so many times by teams who won by a landslide against me, once I showed them I was admirative of their skill rather than salty over my loss. People being jerks in endgame chat sounds quite foreign to me, and that lets me queue up again with no stress or resentment carried over.
There's literally no downside to not being a sore loser/winner.

Someone else noticed, that as killer you only get a gg when you lose? Feels almost like a git gud instead of good game.
1 -
Nope, definitely got plenty of ggs as killer when i won.
and when I lose I rarely get ggs, I am happy when they are not trying to rub it in or talk me down then..

Lucky you.

Itβs not really that much better to get toxic chat after a loss than after a win though.. π€·ββοΈ
1 -
Itβs the sore winners that get to me from time to time.
βezβ has gained a more ironic connotation over time, but itβs still unnecessary to spam the chatbox with it.

If we would move one country to his own servers and not longer let them play with the rest of the EU, 90% of my games would be a lot nicer.

It's probably because most survivors instantly leave when they are dead.

Funny enough, I now send GGs to my fellow Xbox players....but only when I lose (as long as they weren't jerks or whatnot about it) PRECISELY for this reason. I'm always worried they're going to take it the wrong way if I were to send it when I beat them.
1 -
But from the last 2 survivors?
0 -
I also always send a gg. Most of the time it gets a positive reaction. But sometimes people feel attacked by it.
2 -
It makes sense. A couple nights ago, killers left our lobby four times. Finally one accepted (I was playing SoloQ) and they took him to Dead Dawg. He got a lot of hooks, but no kills. After he chased me out, I spectated and saw they were tbagging and BMingβ¦I felt bad and sent a GG.
The more I thought about it the more I worried the killer took it as me mocking them, but I was being genuineβ¦they were the only killer who accepted the match and I hate seeing BMing.
2 -
If we won by the skin of our teeth I might too, though I try to do more than just a GG if I won (like compliment them on something they did during the match or whatnot). Just to give it a little extra emphasis that I'm not trying to mock them or whatever.

Also people saying gg unconditionally is even more annoying. Just played a match on game as dredge with no gen perks and they had 3 bnps. I couldn't do anything because of the amount of pallets, so all we did all game was press space, yet they all still say gg. How is that fun

I usually farm my hatemail on my steam profile. I like to browse through them from time to time to remind myself that all this tunneling and camping was worth it.

When its a really close match, then i usually give a gg wp. A deserved one. For a great game.
1 -
Toxic players ruin everything. Even the mood to continue playing "nice" or "fair" or simply play at all.
2 -
This could just be me, but I always put "GGWP everyone <3" if I win or lose as Survivor and Killer, and I normally get GGs back. A majority of DBD players are on a variety of different platforms, so the main reason why you dont see Post-Game Chat activity is because of that.

YES! I do this as well. I also do this to try and throw some positivity in there amongst all the salt they must get. I mostly play survivor and even I had to turn my messages off because of toxicity.

I completely agree that DbD needs substantially better moderation, but FF is the other extreme - I got a warning for politely asking a player in our group to please stop pulling mobs for me (I was the tank) as it was slowing things down to a crawl (literally 'hey mate, please stop pulling for me'), and a 24 hour ban at a later date for using fireworks after we won a very tough PvP match...which I didn't even consider to be in the least bit gloaty or BM.

Oh ill remain positive. Doesnt mean i wont criticize your playstyle and say gg afterwards then move on.

For a while, it was trendy for people to call a SWAT team on someone they were playing against in CoD in an attempt to get them killed irl.
Dead by Daylight is sunshine and rainbow land lmfao

This ! I'd love if the thumbs up feature actually rewarded players with good manners.
I often meet players who are very sweet or very good sports, and I still leave a thumbsup but knowing it will not do anything is disheartening.

After my killer matches i usually send a ggwp in a psn message, rarely do i get one first.
Even if they dior escape in the match they also rarely send something back.
0 -
Some nice conversations after the match have become rare. Everybody just seems to leave to queue up for the next match.

League of Legends says hi
0 -
this games bad - the devs are pretty spoilt and just cbf making the experience nice for all partys
0 -
Yup exactly, even on playstation no one has a nice conversation about the match.
It's either nothing back, ggwp or salt because they lost.
I've been back from a 1,5 year break since last week and in all that time i got 1 message from a survivor who i scare as scratch mirror Myers, but that's about it.
0 -
Nope, i had plenty games with survivors writing gg after they lost.

I play on anonymous mode most of the time but when I take it off.....
Hundreds of -rep on the profile, I almost feel obligated to play toxic when it is public. I have my reputation to uphold!
I must be in the minority because I think teabagging / hitting on hook / etc etc is funny. I think a well timed dead hard is more tilting than any sort of BM in this game
1 -
Personally i play games like Minecraft, World of Tanks, and Ultrakill when i'm taking breaks from DBD, but hey, you do you
0 -
Very well said.
Always treat others like you want to be treated. That alone would help a lot imo.
0 -
Tbf dead hard now actually does take skill this time to time it perfectly instead of the old distance and iframes one.
But looking at those reps, you definitely have a reputation to uphold π
These days people complain about everything in this game.
I even have survivors DC against my scratch mirror Myers π€·πΌββοΈπ
