Is there any reason to be optimistic about the future of DbD?

Ha! They introduced time constraints on ugly sweaters and it broke twice: Ada's sweater was available way before intended, and then all 3 new sweaters were overpriced for a bit too.

So clearly, breaking things do not really matter, as long as they can make money.

Lootboxes will surely come. Until we serverly express our disapproval.

Nope the game has a history of poor balance changes, if any, and the gameplay has remained largely the same over the years resulting in very stagnant metas, even with large updates changing multiple perks the overall experience is still the same. They can't even manage to make the cosmetics that interesting and seem hell bent on reintroducing reskins over and over again, overall a dying game in my eyes.

Im somewhat optimistic since this year has been pretty good for DBD but the Knight launch was ######### awful because BHVR cannot make a slightly complicated killer and dead hard is still the best survivor perk in the game. The devs said they didnt like that it was used as a third health state and then literally ######### made it a third health state. Its now in every game I play again

The fact that this is a asym game... that's enough for me

Lootboxes have fallen out of vogue in 2022, it's now season pass stuff for the most part - which DbD has had for a while.

I see it a lot, but I'm okay with it now - you can play around it a lot easier, and it requires a bit of foresight and timing to use correctly, otherwise it does nothing.

Keep in mind that this perk basically dictated the meta for years, and people are just comfortable using it as opposed to SB, Lithe, BL etc.

I definitely see it a lot less than I once did. And that's fine. The goal wasn't to make it terrible, it was to reign it in. Yes, I wish killer perk nerfs were handled more like this, but it is what it is (predicting Eruption is nerfed to Thana levels of uselessness by the end of January).

Well, sure. The game is still played the same because it has a fairly rigid set of goals for both sides. That's like saying 'man, the Starcraft 2 meta has remained the same since 2010 because it's still just building a base and units while trying to destroy the other side's base'. Or 'League of Legend's meta has been the same forever because it's still just 'kill enemy heroes and destroy towers'.

The meta, in terms of which perks are used to achieve these goals has changed tremendously. What else do you expect them to change?

I'd say the skins are more creative than ever. Artist, Dredge and Hag all got really fun, crazy stuff in the last few events.

It's been six years and this game is still standing so yes. I am optimistic about it. Until the devs shut down the servers (which is unlikely anytime soon considering DBD is their most profitable game).

All that begins must end at some point.

That being said I see myself having fun with DBD for the foreseeable future as I find little reason not to.

Pessimistic? Optimistic? This ain't political for me. I don't really think about DBD that much.

Nope. Been playing since 2019, long enough to see the contagious toxicity plague the whole player base. It only has gotten worse, no better. I remember having nice conversations after matches with the opponent(s), frequent farming matches, funny moments, ect. But not anymore. Unicorn events these days

I disagree with both sentences in the last paragraph.

I think there's too much legal uncertainty around lootboxes for the devs to seriously consider it.

I also think that if the devs were going to implement lootboxes anyway, they will regardless of the veracity of our disapproval.
