Why are people like this?
I know these people exist in every gaming community and they probably aren't as numerous as the good people, but sometimes the DBD community just feels like a crowd of people out to be jerks and inconvenience other people.
Yesterday I was just going through the Winter tomes and getting challenges done and I get to the one where I need to take a hit while hiding in a snowman. Simple enough.
First game, I get a doctor. From the beginning of the match, I try to hop in snowmen and get him to hit me. He shocks me out of the snowmen. I even went as far as to hop straight of the hook, injured, and run into a snowman and he refused to hit me, to the point where he literally missed THREE back to back shocks because I was able to get close enough where it wouldn't hit me. Needless to say, I didn't get the challenge done.
Second game, I get a Deathslinger (fml, right?). This one shoots me out of the snowmen with the harpoon twice and idk if that counts or not so I ended up blocking him in shack while he was trying to chase someone else. He FINALLY m1'd me because he hadn't reloaded yet but goddamn, I don't get it.
You want me dead. I'm literally handing you a free hit so there's no downside to you hitting me. It's a literal win-win but people in this community would rather go out of their way and miss 3 shocks just to stop someone from getting a silly challenge done.
Now before anyone comes out with the "omg, entitled survivor main thinks the killer needs to cater to his challenge and blah blah", I don't think they HAVE to. My question is: What would that Doctor have lost by just hitting me?

What do survivors lose by being the 4th mori from a tombstone myers? The consensus in that topic was a lot of people not caring about others. That type of attitude is in the entire community regardless of side.
That said, they might not have even known that was a challenge, btw. I don't think its worth getting worked up over, especially since the commitment required is pretty low. You got it in the end as well, so at least its over with :)

Try getting the tombstone myers achievement.

I cannot tell because is that one person in particular. Maybe he didn't know about the snowman challenge? Maybe wanted to max the madness? Maybe he was actively trying to avoid helping with it?
Who knows what's on his mind. The only killers that didn't hit me on snowmen are the friendly ones xD
Anyway, don't think too much about it since many players' actions are not Ill intended...some are but that's just humans.
I'm glad you were able to get it during the slinger match :)

Oh I agree. Getting that Tombstones Myers achievement was an absolute pain in the ass and one of the most frustrating DBD experiences I've had. This wasn't meant to be a Survivor vs Killer post, but a question of why the playerbase in general chooses to go out of their way to inconvenience others

I did. It sucked. Why do people always take one experience and do the "oh well if you think that's bad... this is worse" XD ok i guess but what does that have to do with this

I mostly mentioned it because he needs to spend 8k worth of addons to even attempt it, when challenges generally have little to no investment requirement. It just feels like its not worth being upset over when the community's attitude is something that has been around for ages, and likely won't change as long as it is both allowed and encouraged. This just isn't a game that encourages sportsmanship sadly, even though there are plenty within it who still try.

You’re misinterpreting lol. I’m agreeing with you, not downsizing your vent.

That's fair. and because it happened yesterday, I'm not really bothered by it so much. It just became fresh in my mind because my friend is working through her winter challenges now

Well if you ever see me in game as a killer, I would gladly help you! I've been playing killer lately, just to do challenges and if I don't have to kill survivors, I just mess around and give them chase points, etc. It's been pretty fun and stressless to play with survivors who think I'm going to kill them but I don't.

My bad. Sometimes reading things online comes across as a detraction rather than an add on

I understand how it may have come off, I apologize. I was just adding in! The myers achievement was absolutely mind numbing. I got down to the last person many many times and they would just sit in locker. I would pull them and take them corner map, they’d wiggle and just run right back into locker. Good times…

Because internet, and the fact that this game is virtually unmoderated unless you're using slurs, and the devs have an...interesting concept of toxicity.
For instance, last night we had a really obnoxious game against a Ghostface who hard camped from the first down and basically just accumulated slugs, letting them bleed out.
The really annoying thing - 3 people had brought flans and 1 had brought streamers. The sort of game where I, as killer, would probably go 'okay, let's try to make sure that everyone gets some BP once I control the game'.
People don't enjoy this sort of thing and I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of incoming players ran right into the wall of general nastiness this community often represents, and just quit.

Ugh we had a game last night like that. We all brought streamers, trying to capitalize on blood rush and the survivor bonus. Killer brought a survivor pudding. He continued to facecamp and slug. Needless to say we did not get to capitalize and the messages were similar to your SC above. :,)

The "community" is its own worst enemy a lot of the time. Compared to other games I play, DBD offers so many ways to basically ruin other players experience. I blame the devs for forcing this competition mindset.

It's more that PvP games tend to bring out the worst in people, so you need to have moderation in place to discourage toxicity, while also potentially rewarding good behavior.
I remember League of Legends being notoriously horrible for a long time, but within 6 months after the Tribunal was formed, it was night and day.
Fostering a good community means that you need to fumigate your game to get rid of the butts. Because one butt can stink up games for hundreds of people.

I think the higher MMR you go, the less fun it will be. People care too much about wins and victories that they get to the sweatfest and don't care about others experiences anymore. I stay on the lower MMR to get challenges done and get the best experience. A lot of survivors eventually figure out what I'm doing and play along.

Maybe Doctor thought the snowman blocked a hit like last year.

I literally just 4k'd with TS Myers back to back right now.
0 -
✨ low mmr ✨
You will not get 4 mori’s with TS myers in mid -higher mmr.
I tanked my myers MMR and got it first game.

Funny how "low mmr" is always the cope out for everything.
0 -
No, he's right.
At higher MMR, people will know what you're doing and will actively take steps to prevent you from getting that achievement.
0 -
If that's what you want to believe.
0 -
There was literally just a topic about it where people argued both for and against spitefully denying it as the 4th survivor.
At low MMRs people are less likely to understand exactly what is happening, as well as the counter to prevent it. The higher you go, the more likely they are to have that game knowledge to deny it.

Doctor probably saw a survivor not running and thought, oh, free madness tier up. Either that or he was trying to the Rite of Mind Shock daily.

Nice bait, but okay.
No, that challenge is a bit of a meme for some reason.

This kind of behaviour is what finally broke the camel's back for me when I returned for the anniversary from my 6/7 month break.
5 anniversary cakes, i take it slow to medium like always.... Boom, game over after 1 hook, much hook denial and roughly 5 minutes.
And I am there in after-game chat Just "Why?".
No answer and I was finally done with DBD.

You encountered a Deathslinger? I don't believe you.

I see quite a few actually. Still outnumbered by Huntresses, but definitely outnumbering Tricksters.
Yeah, I'm generally pretty chill, but people in this game have a knack of irritating me. It's just foul sometimes, the way folks act.
