DDOSing Is Still An Issue
So I was just playing a match of Pyramid Head and faced some toxic players (in the sense that they were really aggressive outside of the game). In the middle of the match, I ended up getting DDOSed by the players because ingame I killed one of their friends and they didnt like that.
DDOSing is still very much an issue in DBD due to server vulnerabilities that can be exploited, VPNing helps, but some people do not have access to VPNs based on the platforms they play on so I feel like "just use a VPN" is not a fair argument. This is an issue that has not been fixed and has been swept under the rug several times.
DDOSing, or Distributed Denial of Service attacks involved sending a large amount of information to a person's router, which slows down the router while it sorts out the information. And this goes beyond routers since it can affect multiple different devices as well (including but not limited to servers).
DDOSing is also consider a crime in several different countries since it is treated as "intentionally harming the computer or network properties of another individual". However the people that can DDOS also have the ability to DOX individuals (leaking private information regarding an individual) which is also a crime in several other countries. These server vulnerabilities can also lead to further malicious actions such as SWATing (which like the others, is also a crime in several other countries).
BHVR, please fix these issues, your players should not be a risk because of your incompetence.

Thank god someone is talking about this, I kept getting accidentally gaslight by my friends for weeks that my internet was at fault, but it always happened right before someone died, eventually I screen shared a few games and they realized that I was definitely getting booted.

I had an extremely salty survivor tell me to "Enjoy never playing DBD again" last night. I had zero clue what he was talking about and just assumed he was your average salty loser. I have been DCed from every single match since then. I'm monitoring my network and seeing the actual traffic and DDos happening in real time. The fact that this is STILL an issue that bhvr tried to sweep under the rug and did nothing about should be illegal.

I think it's a problem on consoles, XBox specifically due to something something recently played...I forget. Haven't really heard much about it on PC or PlayStation.
Still, it's something you'll need to talk to your ISP about. I had an experience with a DDOSer in Starcraft 2, and my ISP set me up with a higher bandwidth, a dynamic IP and an apology. This was in Japan, so YMMV.

i thought that was long fixed!
damn that would explain so much of the lag spikes last week or the 10 killer that disconnected on one day.
