It's really hard to enjoy the winter event

I haven't been able to play a whole lot, and with only a few days left of the event I wanted to have some fun, chill matches. What a surprise that it was anything but.

Trying to have a fun time with the snowmen is practically impossible when every killer and survivor wants to go full on sweat with the worst gen rush and generator regression builds possible.

First match of the night it was a camping bubba, and the second match was a gen regression nurse that was so damn good that I couldn't fathom why she was rocking COB/eruption/Jolt. Then I switch to Killer where I faced a four-man SWF in my first match that were all rocking prove thyself and hyperfocus. Then just as things started going well in the second match, people started to DC.

I swear, this sweaty, privileged, and sometimes toxic attitudes that gamers have going makes me glad that bots are an option now. I really hope BHVR creates some other game modes, because all DBD is these days is one big sweaty, boring experience.

I getcha man, it's why I find it hard to enjoy this game at all sometimes. When everyone gets offended over something little in game, they go off and play the nastiest way possible because they felt a little hurt by someone crouching up an down or a killer is near a hook a second longer than they wanted. Eh oh well, just hope everyone can learn to be a bit less angry with each other.

Yeah I'm certainly not expecting people to go easy on me, as I'm sure they wouldn't expect me to take it easy on them, but it's hard to enjoy this game when so many matches play out this way. It sucks too because this game can be a lot of fun sometimes, but when you experience a toxic sweaty match, it can really make it hard to keep playing.

Needless to say after those first two matches on both sides I was reluctant to keep going, so I loaded the bots back up. Yeah I can't experience the event there, but I had more fun there than I did out of any of the four live matches I played tonight.

Might I recommend The Long Dark? There's plenty of snow and I've only been tbagged by a wolf once. That's how I'm spending the rest of the event lol

It's funny you say that because I decided to give it one more go. I decided to play one more survivor match, and we were versing Pinhead. The first guy that got hooked clearly didn't want to be the first, so this entitled cry baby killed himself on hook. Pinhead then proceeded to kill me before we even had a single generator done. He then took pity on the last two remaining survivors since not a single generator had been done and farmed with them.

Needless to say I'm done. I'll keep doing what I've been doing, and that's stick with the bots, because live matches are an absolute mess.

It's new years weekend, and lots of people have time off and like to play with their friends. Lots of swf teams = sweaty killers = sweaty survivors, etc. Every time there's a major holiday I go into games with zero expectations.

Seriously, it's hard sometimes to see where the event spirit's gone.

Yesterday I was playing with a couple of friends against a Doctor. He commited to my friend who's decent at looping for 3 whole gens before deciding to switch, then got looped by the solo in our lobby for the 2 last gens, barely got one hit in.

I'm fond of Doctors, I like going against them, and I felt bad for him as he'd had such a bad game, so I did what I often do when it's a rough 0k for the killer, and offered him a sacrifice. I opened a door so that the team could go, and then walked over to the nearest hook and stayed crouched to show him I was giving him a kill if he wanted.

Guy took it (which in itself is kinda rare, generally killers I go against appreciate the offer but decline) and then proceeded to hit me on hook continuously as though I didn't just offered to trade my 7k escape bonus so that he'd have some sacrifice points.

Needless to say, my friends got me off the hook and we all left.

    "full on sweat"

Then play against bots and hope they add killer bots also. You can't expect to play against softies in a player vs players game.

Honestly, if you wanted to have fun with the event, you should have signed in the first week it dropped. By now, for most players, the snowmen have become uninteresting, so it's back to regular DBD.

I always hate how some people start out a discussion like "i get on just to try and have fun" in the context of a multiplayer game. One at that that has a more competitive side to it as in people like to win.

Like sure you bought the multiplayer game and are entitled to play it but are not entitled to a fun time. If the gamers are sweaty then try a different time preferably not on the weekends. Like I don't know its like buying a dark souls game knowing its a souls game but complaining that "its too hard".

Snowmen were just a cosmetic this year, no point to even interact with them except for the points you can get from escaping in one

Yup, minus the poor game design/balancing, DBD is just like Dark Souls.

The first couple days people memed around a little with the snowmen but now it's only really if it's a friendly killer/farming game already.

Cant tell if this is a joke or not or a "gotcha" statement but I made the comparison of knowing how something can and will play out but still complaining about it in the end which yes people did complain about elden ring being too hard when it was NOTORIOUSLY KNOWN that a souls game would never be easy.

Feels bad man! I got super lucky the weekend before Christmas and was able to meme around with survivors after I got sent to GoJ while playing as Legion three times in a row, thankfully they quickly figured out that I wasn't all that stressed about getting 4K's when I'd drop chases quickly and jump into a snowman to finish off chases.

So yeah, I don't know why people are just being sweaty. Could just be that your MMR is still too high from the last time you queued up or could be the time of day you're trying to play?
