Killer Matches are shorter then 5 min

I dont know whats going, but 9 out of 10 matches are done in 5 min when i play killer. Yes, its against swf mostly and there is a hardtunnel cause there is just no time enough to get the map across do anything else really. Somethimes it feels like i just cannot catch up even with bloodlust.

The information from an swf is just insane. I feel like its getting worse.

I have almost 3k hours, i have no words. Should i really only play nurse to compete???

Yeah a lack of decent slow down perks will get you crushed by any competent team. Hexes most of the time against those swfs and anyone over 100k hours will know where the totems are and break them which sucks because as killer you can't just relight it 1000x. Honestly if you have no hooks with 1 1/2 to 2 gens done it's time to hard tunnel to even have a chance. Swfs make it to were you kind of have to play gritty and use their altruism against them. On a whole other note i just started up the next gen witcher 3, and I'm loving it, i forgot how absolutely stunning and immersive the world is. Anyways i wish the best in the fog. If you don't mind me asking what all killers do you have?

I'm too lazy to list the the perks but the killers I have are

Trapper, Wraith, Hillbilly, Nurse, Huntress, Daddy Myers, Hag, Doctor, Bubbi Boi, Freddy, Clown, Spirit, Legion, Vommy Mommy, Ghostie Boi, Demopuppy, Mr Cowboy, Pyramid Head, Blight, Trickster.

I did buy some perks from the shop: Plaything and Pain Resonance.

I really just play as Trapper or Doctor, but I waste too much time with survivors just trying to catch up to them. They're always running long before I get to their gen and by the time I catch up to them a gen is gone. I know I should run Corrupt Intervention, but even when I do, by the time I finish setting my traps with Trapper, and down one person, three gens are gone and the traps I set are disarmed.

I'm tempted to just buy an anti-loop killer at this point or suffer playing Nurse until I get used to the headache nausea inducing fatigue.

Same. But I will say that when I see survivors struggling I do ease up. I’ll deliberately avoid those I’ve two-hooked and go for other survivors and maybe farm a bit. Idk. I just feel bad for them & I know what it’s like to struggle with a solo queue team. Now if they rush me I’m pissed and probably going to slug.

It's definitely not 9/10 matches - but there is definitely a trend towards hard genrush style SWFs with Hyperfocus, Fogwise, Stakeout etc. and those are the ones where, if they are decent, you'll struggle to kill them fast enough no matter what you try.

Fortunately it's not common outside of comp/comp wannabes.

How can this be on me if im commpletely helpless on the situation

  • C3Tooth
    C3Tooth Member Posts: 8,266

Because the game is balanced for 5 Gens done everymatch.

The difference between 1 Gen remaining match is 1 escape through hatch; and 0 Gen remaining match is 4 escape through gates.

There must be something that 2 Survivors escape dont require 5 Gens done. And add some more side objectives.

think there may be a lot of subtle speed hackers right now anyway. been using "all seeing" wraith so i know exactly when work on a generator starts and its progress and just had a game where at no point in the game could i actually get across the map to a generator before it was completed. complete nonsense.

If this is happening consistently then eventually your MMR *should* pull you back and put you up against opponents more your level. The devs have said the SBMM works by putting you against opponents that your strategies should work against at least 50% of the time.

Hard tunnelling against an SWF is risky since they can just pre drop pallets and do gens super quick. I’d recommend just going for hooks and getting more points that way tbh

But I understand the frustration of quick matches. Best you can do is run perks like deadlock or corrupt to stop gens going too quickly with no activation requirements on the killer end

  • Nazzzak
    Nazzzak Member Posts: 5,656

I do agree with this. At low-mid MMR, tunnelling out a weak player can be very effective and win you games easily, especially as you're likely to encounter mostly solo/uncoordinated teams. In mid-high MMR though, you're more likely to go up against swfs/coordinated teams who know how to loop and waste a killer's time. Tunnelling can still pay off but it likely wont be as easy and won't be as efficient.

The only Hex-Perk worth running is Haunted Ground. They will find them anyway, here u get value if they destroy it. However, if they smell it, you have wasted a slot (but tbh you already do this by playing Hex-Perks). If u use a Hex-Build, u need Pentimento from The Artist. If you dont have this perk yet, do not run Hex-Builds. Then run standard-things like Brutal Strengh, Enduring, Noed and things like Spys from the shadow to be in a chase all the time and dont waste time for searching.

To be fair, if both the killer and the survivors are decent, and those survivors set up a situation like this with the right perks, items and offerings you can do gens at a speed that even if the killer is getting downs at an acceptable rate, the gens are going to vanish.

Hell, Ayrun and his chums were doing a 'let's speedrun DbD' stream, didn't even build it too nuttily and they finished gens and escaped so fast that they started getting bored.

What do you expect survivors are gonna do? If you hardtunnel, the genrush is behind the corner, and if you tunnel the wrong person it's a gg.

  • Krazzik
    Krazzik Member Posts: 2,475

Some games do get pretty crazy. I've had games where I'm finding and downing survivors quickly, but the gens still fly because the survivors focus on gens and unhook efficiently. It's a big reason why people don't bother with chase perks, because against good survivors you just don't create enough pressure solely from hooks. When survs prioritise gens, even without genrush builds, you NEED gen slowdown.

I have plenty of shards (close to 170K), is the Poopy Head Bird Lady (forgive me, I hate the sounds she makes) worth the purchase? Is she difficult to play as?

Who else is worth purchasing for their perks? And as far as anti-loop killers, who is easy to pick up?

  • Xxjwaynexx
    Xxjwaynexx Member Posts: 334

Ok so technically speaking you have some anti loop killers already nurse, huntress, hag, blight, spirit, doctor just to name a few. As far as being looped and speed of gens that'll vary from match to match. If you perfect 1 m1 killer then you perfect them all as far as looping goes. I usually run stbfl, spirit fury, enduring, and something like jolt/pain res/overcharge/ etc. This is my get better at base anti loop build. Sounds like your chases are taking too long honestly. Gen pressure=map awareness you gotta note everything that goes on during chases what gens were being worked on, what surv were where, and when to end chase altogether. I'm a nurse main mostly so gen pressure is easy for the most part. You also need to record some of your games just if you can and just watch and note things you could've done better. I never run corrupt intervention, i now it helps some but everytime i ran it with hag or ghost they would just hide it out. Last pick a killer that feels naturally good to use, like their kit just flows naturally for you and master anti looping and mind games with them. Your gonna have matches that you get absolutely cooked in, as any cracked swf team has the potential to stomp any killer. Do listen to the negative comments either, you don't sound like a bad player to me just need to apply more pressure and aquire more map awareness. Wish you the best and don't give up.

Dont care about Artist. Care about her Perks Pain Resonance and Pentimento. These two perks are the reason to purchase her. Cenobite for example costs real money, but he has a really nice Triple-Set with Gift of Pain, Plaything and Deadlock.

I agree, I’ve been killing all 4 survivors in under 5 minutes most games on most killers. Wait, did you mean survivors finishing gens and being out in 5 minutes?

  • Canas
    Canas Member Posts: 1,021

Getting the first hook is by far the hardest part of the match since there are so many friggin pallets available to survivors. I usually have to munch through half of them before I actually get to down someone, at that point at least 3 gens are already done. And you can't even call this tunneling since I haven't downed ANYONE prior to that. Switching targets doesn't make a difference, they will all abuse and chain these loops/pallets perfectly together. No exception.

For the OP and anyone saying they're frustrated I second, third and if possible, fourth never let people gaslight you into thinking you are bad. It's unfortunately a huge tendency in video games for people to say anyone who is new or having an issue to say 'they're bad' when everybody makes mistakes and has issues at times. Even the best players at anything in the world can still improve so always self reflect but don't pay attention to people who try to put you down.

I think some of it is power creep. There are more tools to bust 3 gens now and you don't have a lot of the perks to keep up. For Trapper, I run CI and Deadlock and, depending on RNG, sometimes I still can't get all my traps placed before the survivors bust my planned kill zone and the match is a wash.

As an example, no Sadako so no Call of Brine for the notification, no Nemesis so no LP for a strong early game to disrupt survivors and no Knight so no Nowhere to Hide to catch any survivors stealthing by the gen.

Doctor and Trapper are both low mobility and, honestly, they're outclassed by the newer Killers. Doctor's whole shtick seems to be designed for when DbD was hide and seek and fares poorly in chase and, with Trapper, quite often my match is determined by what CI blocks. I've beaten groups on Artist that I don't think I would have gotten more than 2 or 3 hooks on as Doctor. The delta between the strongest and weakest Killers is pretty significant.

If you're open to trying newer Killers and don't want a licensed one I would try out Dredge. Artist is better but you don't like the bird sounds and the Knight, while I find fun, is still very macro strategy oriented and is weaker than Artist. If you teleport a lot as Dredge you might find the much better map mobility to be a huge relief. You'll also want to maximize your time in Nightfall. If you're going to try a licensed Killer Wesker is both strong and fun (and, if you're indifferent to whether it's a licensed Killer or not, Wesker is stronger than Dredge).

    Anyway, I hope that helps.

Yeah those games are the fastest as there is always risk that it backfires even if you get one survivor out quickly. If it takes 3 minutes that's about 4 gens done and they have started to work with 5th one. Even if you get fast down with bubba in less than 20s in match and get him basement and camp till he is death at least 3 gens get done and they start working on last gen as well. However if you change playstyle and start to defend gens it's still possible to comeback as 3vs1 is pretty easy to snowball.

Yes, its against swf mostly and there is a hardtunnel cause there is just no time

There lies the problem i think. I know people talk about tunneling being easy mode but that's only when you outclass the survivor you are tunneling.

Chasing a survivor that knows what it's doing for 4 minutes and it really shouldn't be a surprise all gens get done. Doesn't even have to be swf, a decent solo team would walk away with such a match too.

What most likely happened is that you started hardtunneling, mmr looks to make your strategy work 50% of the time so now you face survivors who know how to deal with it and you feel like hardtunneling is the only option.

Tunneling is overal the best strategy but in a game like this everything depends on the situation. Tunneling at the wrong time and against the wrong person is the best way to throw a match

My suggestion would be to forget about kills for a while. Look to play "fair" for a bit and focus on hooking each survivor atleast once. This is not the best way to win, but it is the best way to get better.

Later when the survivors you face become more managable, try choosing one survivor to ignore and focus on the other 3. You'll eventually learn when tunneling is the right call.

Thank you for the advice! I don't let people gaslight me into thinking I am bad. It's just true. I don't think I am terrible, but My attention span is terrible, so keeping track of everything is very difficult for me.

Thanks for the suggestions, I think I may splurge and get Dredge. I'll probably get Poopy Bird Lady for her perks. I really enjoy Devour, especially how, if well hidden, it sends them all into a Panic, so with Pentimento, it would be fine if it got cleansed earlier. I just wish Devs cared enough to hide the totems better. The Knights map is terrible for hexes since they're all out in the open and most maps have them spawn right across gens.

I heard lots of good things about Whiskers, especially about how much fun he is. I'll probably get him eventually, but I'm cheap so I'm waiting for a sale. Hopefully the next killer they release is decent.

You guys seem to forget if you leave the hook and chase someone of a gen, because its an SWF they communicate that they are beeing chased and they can now freely finish of the gens the chased guy was working on. Thats the main problem.

The excessive amount of information swf has without a sideeffect is truly problematic. And now BHVR will give solo player likewise information. Bonkers!!!

There is a video out there that has a generator done in 35 seconds, with the toolbox.

Being honest its not really plausible that all generators will get done in 35 seconds each, concurrent or not. There isn't a lot to be done about this, it is simply how the developers decided the game should be set up. I mean if the survivors want to do this, this is what they can learn to do.

I don't want to have an autism style argument over seconds, but just as a guesstimation, I think a few killers can't cross some maps in 35 seconds.

The game is still fun though, its just not what a sane person would call balanced.

This current meta has made me actually hate in real life all survivor mains. The game is ######### broken and it's stupid. I play only the highest tier killers now (i didn't really play them before because i don't even like them) and the best meta gen perks.

Even so there is never a fair game. Every match is one of the three same thigns

    1) i win so easy its boring and i let someone go if they weren't a toxic team. bored and go play another game.

    2) i lose so bad I want to throw my controller. the games where you get a tourney swf bullying, frankly those players are going to be why this game ends. the math makes it so that at those scenarios you can't win. Ive just started going afk in those situations. ######### im at a point the first time someone teabags me to intentionally be rude i just dc or go afk. I don't even care anymore if I can win, I'm sick of the survivors in this game being toxic scumbags and it not being handled. makes the game unfun.

    3) if its not bad matchmaking / balance making it feel impossible for one side or the other, it's just boring. the current meta is the most boring ######### tier meta ive ever played in this game. The only changes that I expect are an eruption change that will just lead to a tunnel and camp only meta. So when that happens survivors please remember its your fault for complaining about eruption so much, and eruption happened because of your previous complaints

lastly, pretty much stopped caring about winning. game has no balance anyway so skill doesn't matter at a certain point. the wrong rng, right perk combo, etc there are going to be unwinnable matches on both sides period occasionally and that makes trying to play fair or improve almost pointless after a certain point. return on investment of playtime eventually runs out.
