What if SWFs had to play in first person?
I had the idea at work today and I was wondering what some thoughts on this change would be. I don't firmly believe that it needs to be added, but I haven't seen the idea suggested before and I was just wondering what your guys thoughts were on it
Should it be added I think it should only apply to trios and four man squads. I say trios and up because I don't think duos is too bad, as well as the high likely chance a duo could be one player just showing a friend the game.
Survivors in SWFs could get a lean mechanic like ghost face to replace third person peaking around corners
To compensate for not being able to see the killer behind you in chase, your screen could light up red and get brighter as the killer approaches behind you

Oh boy killers are going to love this. Can't look behind you, so now Dead Hard is useless, and all range killers will have a field day.
Nope

Hard no.

The only thing that needs to be done about SWFs is they should show who is grouped with who in the lobby.
That's it.
No one should be mechanically punished for playing with their friends.
6 -
Shown in the pre-game lobby, heck no they'd be dodged into oblivion and no SWF would ever ever ever get a match again. Shown post-game sure I have no problem with that.

What if instead of punishing people for playing with their friends, we give solo queue better info and communication tools so it's less miserable for them?
2 -
I don't think punishing people for playing with friends is something that is needed, though it would be funny to add a feature to go into first person as survivor on April Fools so I can get jumpscared by a Ghostface or Myers and have a heart attack.

What is everyone's sudden obsession with making Survivor be in First Person?
0 -
But this is a punishment already. If the killer knows who is grouped up they can just tunnel them out for an easy game.
0 -
We already tunnel people out, how does this change that in any way?
3 -
So why do you need it then?

Because knowing that we are facing a far more heavily communicative squad SLIGHTLY eases the pain of the fact that those players are going to have such a huge advantage over those who are not in a SWF.
SWFs escape 15% higher than than other Survivors, and that's not because they believe in the heart of the cards.

Give solo-Q's voice comms, then balance Killers around SWF levels of cmmunication.
Game fixed.
Though the devs flat out refuse to admit voice comms break their game. And Survivors desperately pretend SWFs don't have an advantage, so that SWF stays the top of the food chain power-wise.

This game would burn if they added Voice Coms, and in most cases it isn't even viable since the game operates in a lot of different regions. Not all European speak the same language so they're already not getting benefits from voice coms.
Not to mention the toxicity this game already has, nearly every player would opt out of voice coms just because they don't want to be yelled at during the match by toxic people.
But knowing they're SWF doesn't help you at all, this doesn't help you prevent body blocking, hook sabo, actually team play in general. All this does is give you a reason to dodge the lobby because you don't want to deal with the bully squad.

Not to mention the toxicity this game already has, nearly every player would opt out of voice coms just because they don't want to be yelled at during the match by toxic people.Still, if they added it, then they could balance around it. And then Killers would be dangerous again. It would be people's choice to gimp themselves and not use it.
As it stands, they have to balance around solo-Q, which makes Killers weaker, and keeps SWFs the top of the food chain.

I think this is simply why they are adding HUD Icons and hopefully it will be more informative and bring soloQ survivors close to SWF so killers can be more balanced around SWF. I don't think Voice Coms is the way to go, though.

Why do you feel that SWFs should be allowed to have such a huge advantage over killers and other survivors AND be allowed to hide this from people?
0 -
Can we see the killer too so I know how much effort to put in?
0 -
Won't you know that within the first minute of the game?
1 -
Yeah probably but knowing in the lobby would be a lot better haha
0 -
Maybe a little? I guess it depends. I'm sure people wouldn't bring a medkit if they saw a Plague. I guess it would depend on what sorts of perks/items get nullified by a particular killer.
0 -
O God yeah, no medic kit vs plague. Got a trapper better bring a map, o wrath hello flashlight... The list goes on yeah it would definitely help my game haha
1 -
Right. Because you totally don't bring flashlights against any other killers!
0 -
NOPE
Unless you want to play with strangers who scream 99% of the time, eat food, play loud music in background, say ######### the whole time and more
And i don't even play as survivor but it would be the worst idea ever made
2 -
I never understand this thing really
On steam, you'll know who's going to be the killer during the loading screen because of the tooltip you'll see
"Face the mastermind" ""face the trapper", the same killer receive during the loading time so..even before the game has begun you'll know who's is the killer. Isn't like that for every other platform ?
0 -
Only for the first like 3 times facing the killer then it just stops telling you.. I get it, I don't killers much but I imagine ghostface needs to have a little time in the beginning where he isn't instantly hit

Well like I said the screen would glow red brighter and brighter as the killer approached. Maybe it could flash once they make a swing, or grunting could be more audible. I also would say the utility of a single perk shouldn’t weigh in on the decision, as over utilized as it is
As for ranged I’m not completely sure on that either, Huntress currently has a wind up sound already, and being able to walk backwards would be still possible. It sounds like to be spine chill would finally have a good utility again for SWFs

This is what will be done next update, but I think that it is very raw because it passively gives information to all survivors. It helps solo players, but also gives an advantage to groups.
