How yall feeling about dbd giving feng yet again abother outfit when shes getting 3 more int the near future? Guess they are giving feng the netease treatment when its all about her and not the others. Gotta make money somehow tho

I think the number of outfits a character has should be based on a ratio of how many people play that character. It is just a utilitarian consideration.

Feng makes sense since it’s a Chinese based event though so she’s a pretty safe choice
Vittorio on the other hand is just getting them to try to cash in on his simps. He’s literally got more store outfits than Haddie post release since she has got none

To be fair Haddie is incredibly unpopular and Vittorio is at least -slightly- popular with certain people so it's no suprise.

This is the one event where you can't really complain about Feng Min getting a skin.
Complain about Huntress not getting a new bunny mask. They keep giving her other animal heads while they know well enough she will always be a bunny in her heart

I feel like Mikaela and Felix have been getting more attention than Feng has had until now. Mikaela was getting something every update since her release.

I think it's unreasonable to complain about this. They are just doing the most logicial thing to get the most money, feng min is the most popular character, therefore her cosmetics will interest the most people which will mean they will make the most sales.
Making regular cosmetics for a character like adam makes no sense, adam is very unpopular, in fact they'd probably lose out on money making cosmetics for these kinds of characters.
I just think it's very unrealistic to expect bhvr to make even amount of cosmetics for all 64 characters and counting

Lunar calendar was original from China, 15th date of every month of Lunar calendar will always be full moon (some infos if you're interest).
Technically, every Lunar new year event, Feng should get a new Chinese zodiac animal outfit?
Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Mongolia, Thais, Singapore, Malaysia also celebrate Lunar new year

I find it funny how Vittorio getting another skin is because of simps, but Feng receiving a new skimpy cosmetic isn't also because of simps. Also she already received a Chinese/lunar new year skins before so, technically this could be just because they want to use Feng's popularity to sell another time limited cosmetic.
Haddie not receiving anything new 8 months after her release is tragic however. No amount of "she's just not popular" excuses the fact they didn't even try with her. Your supposed to give a survivor some cosmetics after release and THEN abandon them, not abandon them after they release.

I can understand people complaining about their character not getting some love, but I don't understand people complaining about a character getting a skin.

Because BHVR only budgets for a certain amount of cosmetics per year. One character getting most of the cosmetics means other characters aren't getting cosmetics.
For easy example let's pretend there are only 12 characters in DBD for easy math example. BHVR budgets for 12 skins total but instead of giving each character 1 cosmetic they instead focus on 1 character, in this case Feng. They decide to give her 6 cosmetics leaving only 6 cosmetics in the budget to be split amongst the others which means atleast 6 characters are getting 0 cosmetics.

Now I'm not saying that a lunar new year Yun-Jin Lee skin would slay, or that this is a new perfect opportunity to give Adam Francis some more cosmetics, but I'm just saying BHVR could've dropped 1/2 popular characters (incl. Feng Min) + 1/2 non popular characters in the collection like Adam and Yun-Jin to help bolster their cosmetic roster but yet again the higher ups fumble the bag because they're apparently desparate to milk every last penny from this game recently.
Like, they did this with Scarlet Swarm- we got a cosmetic for a popular character (Susie from Legion) and an unpopular character (Jeff). Moonrise gave us popular characters (Feng Min + Huntress) and a not so popular character (Ace). Gilded Stampede came right as Wraith was popular due to recent buffs, so we can call him the popular one + Slinger the unpopular one.

Feng has a fan base that will buy new cosmetics. It's been this way for years. So if they want to make all the improvements that everybody so often demands plus pay server fees, wages etc to support a game from 2016 that people like... Why not?
I get confused when the community gets mad about cosmetic distribution being unfair. Well I'd definitely put my cosmetics team on whomever based on statistics too. If only 3% of people use a character, then only 20% of those total people ever buy cosmetics it's definitely not the smartest business decision to make that character a whole Gucci line ya know.
Plus for the people that get behind saying is somehow biased against characters is ridiculous. They ARE fictional characters that are only diverse enough to claim that in the first place BECAUSE there isn't cultural bias in their team. If there was an inherent bias then that character wouldn't have been made.
It's smart business based on sales. But it keeps this aging game funded to stay relevant and running.

This is why its hard to trust them with coming up with cosmetics for less used characters that need some. They rely on feng and play it safe everytime

For everyone saying 'but she's chinese' or 'cause she's popular':
It's lunar new year. The chinese celebration version is the most popular in the west, but it's still the LUNAR new year, celebrated in China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam and Mongolia.
While we don't have survivors from Vietnam or Mongolia, we do have Yui, Yoichi (albeit he's licensed) and Jake.
Also Feng is getting at least TWO outfits at once for the event (counting the prime one). And if leaks are to be trusted she's a secondary character in the next tome, that's 3 outfits regardless if two are recolours.
I'd say Feng can go the entire year of the rabbit without any new cosmetics after this.

Is Feng popular because she gets so many great skins, or does she get so many great skins because she's popular? Which came first, the chicken or the egg?
Meanwhile, nobody plays Haddie... why? Cause most of her outfits are boring. Like BHVR needs to take a risk and give Haddie some really good outfits, I know for one I would buy them and maybe start playing her more.

This likely is the fault of the community though. I remember when Haddie was first announced, the amount of negative comments towards her appearance was mindboggling. I don't think I saw a positive thing said about her. The devs would have seen all that too - and probably the lacklustre sales as a result - and now she's not worth their time. Hopefully her Christmas sweater sales were decent, because that will probably determine whether she gets anything else soon

Well it's the business Modell in many online service games.
League of Legends for example, the poster girl characters ahri and lux have a plethora of skins each, the mascot champ teemo has 10+ skins.
Meanwhile other characters that are less popular but sometimes even metapicks in the pro league get nothing and sit on 1 or 2 skins for YEARS.
Popularity sells, that's all there is to it. Nothing about equality or fairness, only money.

I was a Haddie main for awhile, but I got tired of looking at her hair glitch on her Masquerade outfit. I still play her from time to time, but... really they need to fix that damn hair glitch.

At the same time the reason nobody plays Haddie is because she got no skins at launch and receives none because she isn’t played anymore. It’s a vicious cycle for the less popular characters
