Why do killers expect me to play against such build?

There is one big misconception that shows up in every balance discussion: "But I'm playing solo queue 😥"
There is no solo queue!
As long as SWF and solos are in the same queue, solo players will be at a disadvantage. This game simply cannot be balanced for both at the same time.

Most of yall are just taking this too seriously its just a game chill out. If you're only focused on losing winning and meta builds youre not allowing yourself to just have fun playing a game. Its not that deep. Maybe Im just not the type of person to understand how people work but I dont know ######### bout the meta and just play the perks that are most fun for me to play, cause thats why ure playing a game in the first place.

This.

I would change things about it, but saying Eruption is carrying these killers is just not true. Eruption does nothing unless he is constantly downing people while also dropping pressure to constantly kick every gen. A bad killer is getting very little value from Eruption.
2 -
Except Eruption is a perk that only works against people not on comms, if you suspect you're up against a SWF why would you ever bring it over more reliable gen defense like CI/Lethal/Pain Resonance/DMS/Deadlock/etc. when you're only getting 9 seconds of regression from Eruption?

GOP is a lot stronger than people give it credit for.
0 -
-"if a Demo ran CoB and Nowhere to Hide, but paired it with something like Blood Echo and Gift of Pain. Would you class that as a meta build?"
STBFL is meta on Demo and Nemesis for an extremely good reason : you can play the game with full stacks almost without penalty. That would be way worse than just STBFL and 3 gen defense perks (or even a random DH and the whistle to protect it).
GOP sucks. If you could stack Thana, and 6 stacks of Dying Light and GoP on a survivor then yea that would be a crazy penalty. But it just doesn't work.
Likewise Blood Echo just has too much not going for it to really be a strong perk.

Sigh... Survivor-only mains
Running in a duo with multiple meta perks across your teams.. Showed up empty handed... Too lazy or cheap to run at least a Brown item in both matches AND picked Midwich of all maps...
If teammates are hard-sandbagging/griefing or a bug/laggy Killer/cheater is ruining the quality of the match then okay, but you just sound entitled
0 -
And it is still the strongesst perk in the game by a mile...
1 -
Cause base Gen regression is 1/4th of progression
Cause loops can be ran and connected
Cause Both Survivors and Killers are smart...

GOP is excellent slowdown and synergizes better with PR than DMS at higher levels where people get off gens on instinct. It acts as pure slowdown; whether they heal up, or they commit to gens.
0 -
It does nothing if they are healing quickly and body blocking - a favorite tactic of coordinated SWF teams.
1 -
If they are healing, that's when it specifically does something.
0 -
-"Upon being healed, the Survivor suffers from a 10/13/16% Action Speed penalty to Healing and Repairing until they are injured again."
You put Gop on them and they heal. Then they force you to hit them in a chase and don't go down. The same friend that healed them before with +90% heal speed then heal them again. Now there is no penalty.
All the while the 4th player has been slamming gens. The other two now come to blast a gen with 3 people using prove while you are still chasing the other guy.
1 -
"they force you to hit them in a chase and don't go down"
If they're giving you a free injure, you should probably take the free down as well. That's 100% a skill issue on your part for not getting value from the perk.

Not in the eyes of many
Also thanks for answering the question

Im well aware STBFL is a good perk, but Im just giving an example since according to the person Im replying to, OP simply running 2 strong perks (one of them GREATLY overrated imo, being Prove Thyself) is enough to make it a meta build
0 -
"lots of bad people at the game don't think X perk is good, therefore it isn't
Many people also think Distortion and Deliverance are B-tier perks. "Many" are stupid, and an appeal to popularity doesn't constitute an argument. GOP hard counters Prove Thyself, as well as acting as a very strong slowdown. Either survivors risk playing injured for normal gen repair speed (and risk getting tunneled), or heal up and heal AND repair very slow. Not to mention the fact it is a Scourge Hook pairs very well with another strong SH perk, Pain Res.
If I have to explain to you why a strong perk is strong, and you have to defend it with "but all these people told me it's not good", you're probably not as good at the game as you think you are.

Why do survivors expect me to play against their bullshit builds?
1 -
Prove is far from a "greatly" overrated perk. It's the single most powerful 3-gen breaker in the game, outside of a quad BNP. There's a reason why every comp team brings one PTS.
1 -
$100/mo? I retired too early. The most I ever won was some bizarre crypto after we placed top 4 in a 64 team tourney.
0 -
I cant believe this post came from you considering you think GoP is good.
-"Many people also think Distortion and Deliverance are B-tier perks."
Smart people don't think Deliverance is bad as it is super meta in comp. Deliverance is somewhat bad in solo queue and less than 3/4 man teams due to the very real meta of first person hooked = tunneled to death.
Distortion is "ok". It's useful in a SWF to know that the killer is running lethal or I'm all ears. But lots of killers can detect you without auras and then you wasted a perk slot. This is fine if you have a team build with 16 perks but that sucks if you are solo.
If you couldn't use voice coms in a SWF then distortion would be garbage.
1 -
For the record, since you seem to value the opinions of "reputed" players over everyone else, Hens, one of the best survivors/killers in the game, considers GOP to be a very strong perk.
0 -
I mean to be fair the Blight's build (Eruption, Call of Brine, Overcharge & Nowhere to Hide,) is pretty OP. I've been against a Wesker who ran a similar build who also sent us to a small map with an offering. He was on top of us before we could even move to figure out where the Gens were, let alone move or touch them.
So I can understand your frustrations OP.

The gen/aura stacking needs to be put to a stop really. People complain about survivors and their so called 2nd chance perks. Yet seem to forget THEY'RE EXHAUSTION PERKS. 40s cooldown how often can jolt/pain res/eruption trigger call of brine again? Oh yea that's right every single time they're in range. Oh look at that you downed a survivor Jolt hits, Oh look you hooked the survivor now that gen you kicked gets hit with eruption and pain res so that's 20% progress gone and oh look incapacitated so call of brine gets to take away another 40% progress on your gen.
Aura perks lets get a huntress/dredge/trickster and abuse lockers so we can constantly see where everyone is since there's always a locker within 10m of a gen lmfao Throw on lethal and I'll have your auras constantly. Before anyone mentions distortion counter doesn't help when you only get 3 tokens that can be gone within a minute.
2 -
How do you lose all your distortion tokens in a minute against anything but a scratched mirror Myers? Darkness Revealed has a pretty hefty cooldown btw.
0 -
Call of brine doesn't work with other perks. When you kick a gen cob activates. If you have proof of it not working like that then it would be a bug.
"The generator regresses at 200% of the normal regression and you see its aura in yellow"
You run away from gen to counter jolt.
Aura builds are not an issue

Didn't say anything about being a survivor main. I play both sides about the same amount. Killer is currently 2 pips behind survivor but even still I've had more losses as survivor than I have as killer. Some killers are so broken once you learn their mechanics getting a 4k is pretty easy without the current meta stacking or hook camping.
Average survival rate went down from 47% to 39% but people say the game isn't at all killer sided and survivors are just acting all entitled.

BBQ, bitter murmur, nurses, Nowhere to hide, Floods of rage. All have no cooldown. This doesn't include the aura reading addons that are available either.
0 -
If GoP is amazing then then why do I not see more people using that perk in regular games? It gets very niche play in tournaments.
If you play optimally as a non Blight/Nurse you are likely hard tunneling so the perk is pointless.
0 -
You play against killers running 5x aura perks eating your tokens back to back without you being able to recover them? Can't say I've ever experienced that before.
If the universe is so big, why won't it fight me? We can sit here all night and ask pointless questions.
0 -
All those also have a requirement to even activate thats why they have no cool down.
BBQ you have to hook a survivor and if they are within a certain range you can't see them anyway.
Bitter Murmur a Gen has to be completed and you only see them for 5 secs if they are within 15m of the Gen and then 10 secs after last Gen is done.
Nurses they have to be healing within a 30m range of you.
No Where to Hide requires the Killer to kick a Gen and for 5 secs all survivors auras within 15m range are revealed
Floods of Rage requires a Scourge Hook which we all know can be messed up with RNG. But the Killer has to hook the Survivor on a Scourge Hook and basically works as a reverse BBQ. For 5 secs all survivors auras but the one unhooked are revealed.
So again those activation requirements are why they have no coolndowns....either thier range is limited or a few hoops have to be jumped through

I mean I'm not saying its a bad perk, its pretty decent. Its just there are other perks out there that are much more consistent and better than GoP. Gotta remember, we're talking meta builds here.
Prove Thyself is a good 3 gen breaker yes, but that's pretty much it. Don't get me wrong it can definitely mean the difference between a gen being finished or not. But if you really think about it, it doesn't save that much time. Since most of the time you aren't going to be staying on a gen for long if a killer is hard patrolling a 3 gen, the difference between having Prove Thyself and not isn't that much. Say 2 people get on a gen and are able to to repair uninterrupted for 10 seconds, the difference between having Prove Thyself and not is 3%. Hell repairing a gen from 0% to 100% is a difference of roughly 7 seconds.
As for why its being used in tournaments, is because perk stacking isn't allowed and its still a decent perk at the end of the day. You also have perks which are normally pretty obscure that are quite common (at least used to be when I actually followed it a bit) such as Wake Up or Second Wind.

-"I mean I'm not saying its a bad perk, its pretty decent. Its just there are other perks out there that are much more consistent and better than GoP."
That's basically the problem. If a perk is just "OK" but there are much better reliable perks that save more time every game then use those instead.
Most people might not agree but Bamboozle is a great perk on the right killers. You can basically force pallets much faster and that saves a lot of time. Many survivors don't know how to run tiles if you play the Bam card. And the ones that do know how to play against it are forced to play in a sub optimal manner.
Many of the "unfair" maps are made much more tolerable with BAM. Haddonfield is a night and day difference for example if you use it. But then there are maps like the game where it is almost worthless.
2 -
i can tell the same about SWF teams ya know? It's not funny when you are aganist people who bring meta perks and broken stuff, add also map offerings paired with oak offerings to increase the distance between hooks and you'll have an extremely unfun match where you'll barely did some hooks if you are lucky...
2 -
Examining gen progress in a vacuum isn't realistic. It's also why Built to Last with a fat toolbox and Hyperfocus will never be as weak as most of this forum wants you to believe because "b-b-but you have to hide in a locker for OVER TEN SECONDS!! THAT'S SLOWDOWN". No, it's not. Any gen progress can be reverted, especially so if killer has perks like Pop, Pain Res, Eruption, COB, etc. A gen that's at 100% cannot be touched. Prove helps shave precious gen time off, and even makes 3-manning a gen a viable strategy instead of a complete waste of time. And GoP is meta when used in conjunction with PR.
2 -
Lol get good. Eruption isn't a problem, maybe it needs some works on, but you can't blame a killer for bringing eruption when you're using prove thyself.
2 -
Maybe they expect you to play against such builds because you readied up to play a game, and MMR matched you against each other?
If your matches are too hard, lose more games.
