Guess this is going to become a recurring theme
Can't say I'm surprised after the winter event unfortunately.

Here we go again. Lmao

Guys it's not FOMO of course Winter cosmetics are only available during Winter
Guys it's not FOMO of course Lunar New Year cosmetics are only available during Lunar New Year <----- We are here
Guys its not FOMO of course Spring cosmetics are only available during Spring
Just another example of this absolutely gross business practice
41 -
Interesting. 2/2 already on limiting the time on cosmetics that have been available for years.
18 -
It's Greed.
Greed is massively strong.
That's all it is.
26 -
They need to stop but how do we reach the monetisation team to give our feedback?
4 -
Yeah ok. Waterfront massacre is 100% becoming time limited. Guess I better prepare myself for haddie's only purple rarity skin leaving the store.
14 -
If I could sell a Christmas outfit in June that's more money for me. Who knows if someone who wanted Krampus will still be playing when these limited cosmetics return.
18 -
speak with your wallet, dont buy anything behavior puts into the store.
any criticism will fall on deaf ears if people still buy stuff in game.
11 -
I’m sure they are quite aware. The only feedback they likely care about is dollar signs. Short term profit at the expense of community good will. An interesting choice given the games inaccessibility to new players.
4 -
Greedy corporations will be greedy, no surprise there. Mandy will defend BHVR because she gets paid to, the other mods will ignore it, and regardless I'm not buying more DBD skins. But yeah, until they remove time limiteds I might just move to another game that like. Doesn't hate its customers.
3 -
The worst part is, because of the promised process of making all skins eventually Iridescent Shards, ALL new skins started releasing in Auric Cells only. Meaning these FOMO skins will never be Iridescent Shards.
18 -
Because of course they would. At this point I should just give BHVR my bank account info and SSN so they can just reach into my wallet and scam me every time they drop the new "Mid Skin Collection" that's going to be removed in 0.125 milliseconds.
2 -
Ding ding ding ding!
Finally, someone spotted it.
8 -
Exactly. Which is just the icing on the cake as to why it's a greedy business practice.
Putting Shard prices on all non-licensed cosmetics is nice and all but not if cosmetics aren't in the store long enough to obtain those Shard prices in the first place.
11 -
Not wasting my money with these
2 -
Oh, it's better. Even if they're in the store long enough, because they're limited only, they don't count. Otherwise all the Christmas stuff would've turned over to shards right at the end.
5 -
Well seeing as they are doing it again it’s here to stay. Luckily I don’t like most of the cosmetics for LNY anyway
1 -
If those skins (that were already in the store once) don't have a Iri Shard price the next year's release, that will be problematic.
2 -
Even if those seasonal cosmetics come back next year with Iri Shards prices, it is still problematic imho. They should not be removed from the store, period.
4 -
Its simple, don’t buy it.
dont buy any Seasonal cosmetics. Only buy the others but ignore the seasonal so they see the sales drop.
4 -
We'll see how they use that loophole.
4 weeks wait to purchase something with shards instead of Money is something that a lot of people can usually wait for (nor should it be too long to begin with if you do actually want players to spend a currency that represents their time investment in a game).
Limited Time cosmetics is their loophole that can be used to bypass that "customer loophole" while conveniently taking advantage of FOMO.
But we'll see if its use is to intentionally permanently prevent things from being sold for Shards or if it's secondary purpose is to extend the period in which they're not sold for Shards too.

And still, you are here supporting bhvr and wasting your life on dbd
1 -
This was always the endgame. BHVR was always pretty greedy with ish like this
2 -
I don't know you. I'm only here like once a month
2 -
I only got 2 because I always liked the Feng one plus Ada got her Re 4 fit
0 -
ironic, that you’re here on the forums… talking about somebody wasting their life on DBD. 😂
4 -
And here I was just talking to m friend about how they'd probably do this after the Winter stuff. I ######### called it
0 -
I’ve only bought Jane’s since I buy all her skins anyway
We can do all the protests and angry posts but fact is this method makes more money and is now used by most live service video games. It’s highly unlikely it will change since the forums are a minuscule part of the community
4 -
can't wait for spring 2023! they did it once, they'll do it again! no stopping the FOMO train!
0 -
Same with that Jane cause Jane main ironically. I knew they'd do this so I'm pretty much counting down the days when this tactic is finally brought up constantly like the nerfs to DH and Nurse. It's simply a matter of time
0 -
Irony is just another form entertainment atp. People say the weirdest stuff and make themselves look foolish

Personally, I greatly disapprove of these strategies. - But I guess the best thing I can do is to simply not buy it. So I won't be buying any limited skins for aurics. --- Then again, we all know these "time limited specials" are not aimed at people who can comfortably say that and follow through (which is also my main issue, communication aside, with the strategy). But ye, we can say what we want here but as long as there's no legal framework to protect vulnerable groups from these strategies they're here to stay. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
6 -
not that surprising tbh
the game is literally pay 2 win
2 -
Honestly same. I bought Feng's and Adas. I like the outfits so ima buy em. The little voices on this forum aren't going to make a difference so whatever. If you wanna have your personal code and protest it thats fine but berating other people because you don't like it is stupid.
1 -
Wow... Its crazy how they know that people caught on a while ago yet they continue to gradually amp up the FOMO anyway. Its not crazy as in a surprise, just that its still sad to see play out in real time. I respect the art team and do like certain cosmetics they've released in this past year, but I'm not buying any of that with $
4 -
I thought it was established already that it was a recurring thing
1 -
Who cares? No seriously why does anyone care? So many people act like they are being robbed by limited time cosmetics. If fomo is actually effecting anybody they need to grow up already.
5 -
You are not obligated to buy, I suppose.
Anyway, it's a virtual cosmestic, you better spend your money with real things, if I may give an advice.
0 -
Like I said when this got revealed for the Winter Event, this doesn't surprise me.
I doubt it's the Devs, this has corporate greed written all over it. Important distinction.
2 -
If it didn't work they wouldn't be doing it.
0 -
The best part was that they stated that all skins would become buyable with Iridescent Shards after 4 weeks, and when the christmas skins happened to stay up for 4 weeks and three days it was like "yeah, well, of course thats not applying to those..."
Business is business, but taking away stuff that has been available for ever and putting it behind a FOMO wall feels just bad. Same with barely introducing any new skins that aren't FOMO. If it was a healty mix and some skins just were more exclusive, fine, I think that no one would care. But right now its just frustrating and definitely not fun or incentivising me to throw any money at them.
5 -
Getting rid of permanently-missable cosmetics only to replace them with potentially-missable ones that you only miss if you don't fork up the dough for it. Predatory and scummy. SMH
1 -
When I saw the new RE skins fell under the 'LNY collection' I was worried they were gonna pull this BS with them as well.
Thankfully that's not the case, but I get the feeling that's because of Capcom, not BHVR easing off on this 'practice'.
It really shouldn't frustrate me but it does. Why is this a thing now? Does the game somehow not make enough money charging £8+ for a single outfit? Really makes you feel like BHVR are just trying to get as much money out of you as they can now through FOMO rather than improving the game. DBD is feeling more like a storefront with a game attached rather than the other way round and that's very worrying.
3 -
Why do you think BHVR would care enough to implement this practice 5+ years after the game has released?
Because it's effective. Especially on people with poor impulse control that will be drawn to buying outfits specifically because they are only available for a limited time. It's predatory and does absolutely nothing to benefit the game other than make the devs even more money. The problem is much more difficult than just telling those people to 'grow up'. There's a reason why it works so well and has continued since Halloween last year.
2 -
Stop with fomo. Put yourselves in playerbase's shoes. Not cool. You do a lot of interesting things, but survivors non licensed skins and fomo aren't among them.
1 -
They never promised all skins to be later shards on their first post about it. Some skins lately have managed to go through the process, others havent. Its up to u what you want to do whether to spend or dont.
0 -
Nothing has ever made me want to buy a cosmetic less. It's such bullshit to make old cosmetics into timed cosmetics. I'll stick with the rift and that's it.
1 -
Yes, because at restaurants the waitress cooks your food and the chef refills your coffee. Artists, quality control, the janitor who cleans the bathroom. Everyone at BHVR is interchangable and can totally do every job in the company.

me that don't give a ######### about skins be like:

Which brings me back to people need to learn how to control themselves.
