Now don't get me wrong. SoloQ is still a mess and the killrate should be still way above 60%. But that is mainly because of the Eruption meta and the fact that SoloQ lacks communication. But I already see soloQ survivors being more coordinated and actually being efficient on gens despite no gen perks. And it just shows me: If neither sides run any gen perks and survivors manage to coordinate well (or just being gen jockeys) this game massively favors survivors. Eruption and the other gen kicking perks with 3-gens are the sole reason why killers are still dominating. But it shows a huge problem: With the Eruption meta being so oppressive people are simply running gen progression perks and powerful toolboxes and I see it every match. The gens are flying even if I perform well. Survivors are simply sticking to gens and since I never run gen kicking perks (because kicking gens over and over again is boring) they often finish all gens and get atleast a 2 man out despite my performance. And it will get more apparent in the future just how powerful survivors are once soloQ survivors will get even more communication methods and the gen kicking meta gets nerfed. Hopefully this will show BHVR that most killers are in desperate need for a buff (except the strongest killers they can very well keep up even without gen kicking perks but top tier killers are obviously not representing the entire roster). It should be obvious that the most oppressive perks should not be needed to have a chance of winning matches where survivor are simply sticking to gens as if they put glue on their hands.

Survivors should be able to coordinate as a team, that's the most efficient way to play. Prior to this update though, solo queue rarely enabled any sort of efficient coordination. It never really felt like a 4v1 team game, most of the time it was more like 1v1. So it was a needed change, at the very least it makes team mates accountable to each other. There are 3 roles in this game - solo, swf, and killer. "Survivor sided" is not my experience at all. Swf-sided? yes. There's a reason so many requests come through here from killers wanting the option to be able to block going against swfs. Solos undoubtedly make up the majority of the killrates.
I'll also add that this gen kicking meta really only took off a couple months ago. The game certainly didnt favour me prior to its popularity, and i never use gen perks or bring toolboxes. This isn't some long term meta that has been carrying killers for a long time, so I'm honestly not sure I agree that it's the sole reason killers are doing well killrate wise. The only way I can see the gen kicking meta even being addressed is if BHVRs stats show the current 60% killrates have increased along with the meta usage. If there's a correlation then I have no doubt they'll address it, much like if killrates fall under 60% with the introduction of the survivor icons they'll make necessary changes.

Well the gen kicking meta certainly is the current reason why killers are so oppressive right now. Without them they either need to play like absolute sweatlords or they will get alteast 2-3 outed in most matches even if they are skilled players. My point is that whenever I play killer almost every match feels like the survivors players coordinated after the mid chapter. Before that I could usually tell the difference between soloQ and SWF matches (though there were exceptions ofc). The gen speed feels like it has massively ramped up which has to do with survivors now knowing when they have to go for saves or which survivor is in chase etc. SoloQ is still not strong and I still win matches. But there are signs that soloQ might not be as weak anymore as it used to be. And if BHVR keeps implementing more tools to communicate to bring soloQ more on par with a SWF then it will become clear that killers are being carried by their gen kicking perks. Without them survivors are undoubtedly stronger (I see this by myself: playing as Billy, chases are short and I find survivors quick due to BBQ and they still power through gens like crazy). The good thing about Ruin and Pop was that they rewarded skillful play. If you good at applying map pressure Ruin helped you to slow down gens by a lot. Pop rewarded you for going for as many hooks as possible. Both got gutted and you see them in almost no matches since the alternatives are much better. We need strong gen perks that incentivize fair and skillful gameplay and not the obnoxious gen kicking perks that only incentivize camping 3-gens
