Exit Gates

When did it become a thing to not fully open the exit gates? I thought that was the whole point of being a survivor to get all the generators done then OPEN the gate to exit? The other thing I have noticed is once the exit gate is opened even if all survivors are reunited and together no one escapes they play around and tease the killer possibly getting hit or taken down, why not just escape/exit like your supposed to do?

The reason to 99 the gates is solid.

Survivors waiting at the gate though, 9 times out of 10 in my experience, is purely to antagonize the killer. Most of the time I move in to hit/push them out and they run out before I can get the hit anyway. I have sat in the middle of the map with all the survivors at the gate and they will sit there and waste the two minutes or whatever it is and walk out at the last second just to antagonize. I guess some survivors need you to hold their hand out the gates...

99ing gates started when EGC was introduced in 2019. You must be new here. I don't 99 gates unless someone just went down, then I wait for the hook and then pop the gate. People who 99 gates and run away to cleanse a totem while their teammate runs to the shut gate with the killer on their heels are the worse.

The concept of delaying the entities sacrificing everyone or denying blood warden is noble but mostly what I see is that the killer ends up with 5-6 more hooks (from trades) because no one will leave and they end up with a kill anyway. The same kill everyone 99'd the gate for.

Thanks guys I was just confused as to why when I play killer they just don't escape one girl didn't leave and had waited to long and was killed by the entity from the ground because she was too busy bouncing up and down to get me to come get her. As a survivor it does suck when I am running from the killer and the gate is almost open but not quite and I can't escape. I have been playing DBD for awhile and this is the first time I have really encountered this a lot lately it's like more and more players are doing it.

I had no idea that was a thing in the game. Playing as killer if all gens are fixed and I have not hooked many players, or if they appear to be new to the game I more often than not let them escape. There has been times whereby players at the gate have beckoned me over, I stayed away but now having read your post I am wondering if they were wanting me to hit them as a return favour. Glad you posted that I will see next time.

I was not aware of this. Having played killer a few times if I have only hooked a couple of players and all the gens are fixed, or if they all appear to be new I more often that not allow them to escape. That said at the exit gate I have quite often seen players beckoning me to approach them, I have backed away but now wondering if they were trying to return the favour by letting me hit them once. I will see next game.
