I'm surprised with the gen kicking meta dragons grip is not meta
I don't think I have seen this perk on like forever. With a lot of gen kicking perks you think dragons grip a perk that has a pretty decent effect would be use more

same reason potential energy isn't meta despite the fact we're in a 3 gen meta.

Because when at 3 gens and trying to control that area, and only that area you wouldn't need this.
When playing a killer I feel like I don't usually need more tools to control the above. Every now and then, it would have helped mostly, because the survivors were working around Eruption via safe tiles near the gens and I didn't have time to get good value other regression tools.
If I'm going to personally work with exposed, I'm just going with star struck, it gives value against a wide variety of play styles all match, survivors help you use it by crowding the hook early on for fun, and late game because the play area gets constrained.
Note that I only tried it out for like 5 matches and it was with Eruption. In those cases they always ran early, leaving me with too long a chase at a time I couldn't afford to commit to it.

Dragons grip's cool down is too long.

Dragon’s Grip is mostly hindered by its super long cooldown. If nobody gets exposed during the 30 seconds it’s active on the gen, it becomes unusable for another 80 seconds (which starts AFTER the 30 seconds) meaning at worst you have to wait almost 2 minutes between activations.
Imo, it should just be that the 80 seconds starts when the gen is kicked, regardless of whether someone gets exposed or not.

Oof that's bad. I understand the reason for the downside as exposed is pretty strong effect but still. They played it too safe

player are not running gen kick perks to get exposed. they're running gen kick perks for regression. exposed not rewarding. dragon grip is terrible perk. the perk would need to have like 0 cooldown for any killer player to consider it as serious gameplay option.

dragon grip has a big cooldown, exposed effect is too short, survivor isn't revealed long enough. it's also easily played around. you just wait til the killer isn't literally right next to the gen before tapping it.

Thats because that requires chasing after being activated. And most killers dont want to leave their precious 3 gens. Because if they do, their family won't be free if they dont get their 4k.

The reason dragon's grip isn't meta is because it sucks. An 80 second cooldown whether or not it actually triggers successfully? Yeah, it's just not worth using most of the time.

45 seconds would be way better. So would no cooldown if it's never procced. Same goes for ANY perk that has to be procced. Blast Mine not set off? Then you get it right back like you used to.

Because that perk would be mean that you actually have to comit to a chase to actually have value.
Also because Dragon's grip is just really bad.

But honestly what perks would one take off to get Dragon's Grip
Eruption- Perk does to much to let it go
Call Of Brine- Has good Gen regression for 60 seconds
Overcharge- Has better Synergy with Dragon's Grip
Nowhere To Hide- Aura reading apon kicking a Gen kinda goes against Dragon's Grip (but it's Aura Reading so it's more of a toss up)

As an idea the perk kinda makes sense. You would think : hey this sounds great.
1) The timer is way too long.
2) Voice coms completely negate the perk
3) Other perks do a better job of protecting Generators either by direct regression/prevention like DMS+Pain Res or just Eruption and fast chases.
What would be needed to make this perk viable:
3) Make it work like Eruption so that you can kick multiple gens and touching one triggers the effect. Anyone touching one of the regressing generators before the 80 second timer ended would trigger exposed.
4) Let killers get synergy with perks so that if you use Oppression - which also has a crazy cooldown then you can kick multiple gens to apply Dragons Grip. You have to wait a long time for both cooldowns to line up.
5) Anything less than both of these combined effects makes the perk a big "nope" as there are just better things to use.
6) Alternatively it could make the entire team be exposed if someone touches the generator. That would make the very very popular - but survivors would hate it and call it oppressive for the same reason they hate MM getting 99% on one player and then tapping the power when hes touching you so that he can kill you with a tombstone.

Whispers is funny because you never see it anymore, whereas when I started it was really common all the time, even among streamers like Otz.
I think it really goes to demonstrate the power creep this game has had with perks. Overcharge was bad back then, and COB, pain res, undying, eruption, etc. just didn't exist. So what you had was ruin and pop, maybe corrupt, which left more room for utility like whispers.

Dragon's grip cooldown is way too long. The cooldown is effectively 110 seconds because it seems to only start after the application window of 30 seconds ends. The perk is just not worth it, it's a bad perk.

you could give this perk 0 cooldown and activation window of 30 second for every gen kicked and I am not sure if the perk would get used because strong gen regression perk is so over-prioritized in the killer meta that nobody is consider any other type of killer perk currently. I think only other perks you see are nowhere to hide/bbq(info perks) and stbfl/bamboozle(chase perks). Other than that, The meta is pretty cemented into 2-3 gen defence perks. The 3 perks that I see most are Pain res, Eruption, Cob. The lesser ones you see are Jolt, deadlock and OC. Assuming they weaken top 3, you can already see next 3 to take their place.
killer have no perks slots to waste on meme perks like dragon grip.
