How I'd make a chase meta

I'd like to see a meta where the game is more focused around chases, but the issue is always how do you balance it without make one side just fall over.

I'd propose making perks where you take protection hits meta. What this would do would turn those 30 seconds where a survivors leaves their gen to take a hit then heal, the inherent slowdown for killers. Survivors who are bad at timing their protection hits and leave their gen early, give the killer more slowdown.

Protection hit meta would also make tunnelling harder since, you're already taking protection hits for tunnellers, why not add a couple perks to make you stronger.

Killers could get perks like: When a survivors takes a protection hit, all gens with 24 metres are blocked for 15 seconds.

Survivors could get perks like: When you take a protection hit for a survivor the killers aura is revealed to all survivors for 6 seconds. While injured, if another survivor take a hit with 16m of you gain 3% haste for 10 seconds.

There was a perks like that. They gave bloodpoints for each side of the barricade. Yet they removed that bloodpoint bonus so now people are not using it anymore. BBQ forced killers to chase and patrolling because more chases, more patrolling was more chases and more hits and every hook multiplied your bloodpoints so you didn´t have a feeling of being robbed by survivors when they finished gen in silly amount of time. Same with perk for survivors. It was changed and now noone is taking it. I was taking it most of the time, because it forced me to play differently. Unhooking, totems, protection hits and more. VARIETY of possible ways how to play and it was rewarded. I rememeber how many times I played with BBQ or We´re gonna live forever. People were forced to play by fun way for both sides. They removed it and made the game boring again. M+ at gen till the end. Boring as hell.

WGLF promoted rushing the hook and farming the person. It was the most "efficient" way to get stacks.

People were forced to play by fun way for both sides.

No, they weren't. As killer you didn't have to change your playstyle at all. As survivor you needed to rescue more and fight with other survivors for stacks or alternatively throw the game with protection hits.

Also, There is a protection hit oriented perk atm. It's called Mettle of Man. It isn't good but hey, it's there.

I was using it and tons of players across the ranks. Amount of camping and tunneling dropped massively. And yes. Did you what happend on high levels? It was exactly how I described. Give killer or survivor reward for doing something more than just boring M1ing the gen and solution will come easily. Shame i can´t have stats of devs how used it was at the certain point till nerf. But whaever. You have to give rewards for doing things like chasing. Mettle of Man was average even at the release. When they remove it I remember how camping and tunneling rised again. I´m playing from the beggining and I can see those tremendous differences between times when BBQ and We´re gonna live forever was a thing. Yet as you can see someone don´t want to reward players for fun playstyle. Instead of it devs are rewarding for tunneling and camping. which can give you a hint what they actually care about. They don´t care if there something wrong as long as it fit to hteir stats what are holy for them.
