A Better Change For Eruption
I thought a suggestion I read from @Forza was great. If Eruption is going to be removed from the gen regression category (which, realistically, at 6% of current progress that's too low to even make a difference) then have Eruption blind and/or stun survivors within a 5 or 10 metre radius from the gen and apply Blindness for thirty to sixty seconds sort of like a reverse Blast Mine and Residual Manifest effect for Killers. You don't even need any gen regression with this take and it fits the theme of Eruption better than aura reading.
While Blindness is an underpowered status effect just seeing BP notifications (preferably with a boom and loud noise notification) accomplishes the same as intended for the aura reading effect (gens being worked on) and gives a dopamine hit without unintentionally giving a huge boost to slugging playstyles which aura reading does.
As well, similar perks such as Blast Mine (and Head On) are run not because they're very effective but because they're fun. Nobody runs either of those survivor perks to increase their survivability but rather to have fun which is the primary goal of any entertainment. The change proposed by BHVR is neither very effective nor fun except for Artist and slugging playstyles and the change listed above would still see the perk run for funszies while addressing all the current legitimate complaints about Eruption.

Honestly, Eruption should just take away the inability to do anything for most of the cooldown. If either that was taken or the cooldown was, I Don't know, Doubled? Then it wouldn't be nearly as bad.
But BHVR prefers to either make things so overpowered that it's not funny, or nerf something so hard it's never used again.
And I mean hey, what was it before it was buffed? Incapacitated for 16 seconds? Maybe find a middle ground if it was previously too weak to be used? At least don't make it worse than it was before it was buffed for the love of christ.

Yeah, it was almost never taken pre 6.1 due to being a weak choice and the proposed version is worse than the pre 6.1 version. If the perk is going to be ruined, though, at least make it a fun perk.

I'm not sure if release Eruption was necessarily weak though, honestly.
I think what made it surge in usage was more traditional regression options like Ruin and Pop being nerfed, and synergistic perks like Overcharge being buffed. Nowhere to Hide being added was icing on the cake.
It's pretty often the case that something in a game is good, but is simply not taken because other options are better.

It wasn't weak. But there were other options that just didn't require kicking gens. But you could lockdown 3 gens no problem. Of course, with different builds than currently. I did do it, but quickly got bored of it. It was an example of a perk not being controversial simply because it was never used due to alternative options.
But it's kinda moot. History tells us devs are going through with these changes and they'll do some small number tweaks if deemed necessary.

That's more or less my point. The bare minimum it should be is what it was pre-buff, when people rarely used it.
As is, it's going to be worthless for all but like, one or two killers, and even then they have better options.

Yeah, my issue with the change is that we don't need more worthless perks. If it's going to be virtually worthless for gen regression and gives an aura reading that mostly only benefits hard core slugging make it a fun rework instead. If you're not going for a 4 person slug I'd argue the change above gives more utility than the change proposed by BHVR and is fun as well for the 'how do you like those flashbang effects now!' feeling.
Fun and meme perks obviously have their place in DbD so if Eruption is going to be nerfed to oblivion make it a fun perk instead.

I feel like they just turned Eruption into a worse version of Jolt. You have to kick the generator, it has a cooldown, and it's regression is way lower. The only plus side is map wide and the aura, but is that really worth it for most killers?
