Too Many Items and Add-ons Messing Up MMR
I've played a lot of killer and survivor lately, so I understand the point of view of this on both sides. However, when I play killer, I often see way too many strong items. And because of that, I bring Franklin's Demise now when multiple people are bringing toolboxes or med kits.
And when I use Franklin's, the survivors generally turn very disorganized and maybe finish one gen because they're too used to strong items. When I check the Steam account after the game, they're often only in the hundreds while I have over 2,800 currently, showing that many survivors (as well as killers) reach a higher MMR than they should be at because of items, add-ons, and perks.
These need to be better balanced; the Syringe, Brand New Part, and multiple killer add-ons should be nerfed and changed, among others. There should be nothing relating to gen progression and regression in my opinion, as that often unfairly affects the other side that is more toned down.

I think items should be free but only have 1 version of them, the weakest one. So the furthest gap would be a Brown medkit and a Brown medkit with 16 charge + Styptic.
Currently you cant balance the game between a survivor has no item and the other has a Ranger, 16 charge + styptic

This is a good idea. Turning the consumable items into "survivor abilities" and tweak the remaining addons to adjust the lost potential strength to a new acceptable level. But i dont know which current item combination should be the new base level.
Because then survivors always have an item equipped which can be taken into consideration for balance.
As for the killer side, turn addons into mini perks that dont affect stats like charge time, range etc. Because those stat-stick most often are the bestr choice, which results in them gwetting complained about even if all other addons suck. Lost power during this teansition of addons obviously should be added to basekit to some degree ( somwhere between yellow and yellow+green statboosts lol).
Personally I think some addons like the myers mirror and other gamechangers ( 1 blink 110% nurse etc) should become alternate abilities too.

Honestly, I'm not much for the Styptic either. At least the Syringe and BNP need to be balanced/removed, though, IMO.

The only survivor item I’ve had a problem with is medkits with addons. It’s pretty gross how fast they can heal after breaking los with the killer with a strong medkit. I also think running a pink key with blood amber is corny.. Brand new parts are cheesy I guess..
Killers have alot of unfun boring addons to go against as survivor but these just stick out badly,
Blight: Compound 33, Compound 21, Alc ring
Spirit: Mother daughter ring
Clown: Pinky finger
Trapper: Iridescent stone
Huntress: Camping hooks with Iri head
Hag: Rusty shackles
Myers: Tombstone piece

This is the best post I've seen on these forums in quite a while.
This is one of the biggest issues in the game and it isn't talked about as much as it should be. Instead, half this forum is posters who never play the other side crying because they have been conditioned to think they should win every game (while always bringing the best (OP)) stuff in the game. Whether it is all the killer users who have been HARD carried by Eruption lately, or 4-man SWF's bringing 4 good medkits or toolboxes, the potential for one side to bring absolutely overwhelming items/addons and be at a huge advantage because of that is a big issue.
One idea I have is for only one item to be allowed in a lobby. If someone has a medkit, sorry - pick another item. 4 medkits at the start of the game makes it way too advantageous. Or 4 toolboxes. Or a Blight bringing his best addons/a stealth killer bringing an indoor map and Eruption/COB.

Thanks for the indirect complement and I entirely agree. I didn't mention it, but perks too. Multiple times killers literally won against me specifically because of perks like Eruption. I think Prove Thyself gives a stronger buff to survivors than they realize, too.
And nice idea! That'd make it much more fair. That is, after they get rid of add-ons like the Syringe, Brand New Part, Tombstone Piece, and Alchemist's Ring. And I can't wait for perks like Eruption to be nerfed; I hope the next meta shake-up also includes Prove Thyself.
