I think the devs laugh about Dead Hard posts
They've kept this broken perk for 6 years and even after reworking it they made it even stronger when used near pallets and against certain killer powers. They'll never bury this perk for good, i think they read our posts about it daily and have a laugh saying "hey look, another dead hard post lol. Quality entertainment, let's keep it untouched for another 6 years"
P.S In all seriousness though, why would you want to destroy a perk that's literally a majority of your player base's favourite thing? Would be a dumb business move.

I laugh too.
21 -
Nah, the devs just don't play killer so they couldn't care less how miserable this perk is to play against. That's why Eruption got dumpstered and not DH
33 -
Yeah. Remember you crying rivers about Eruption too.
26 -
Dude, I sympathize about your hate for DH, but Eruption was WAY more busted than DH ever was. Those two perks are way apart from being comparable to each other
30 -
Omg the victimization is so strong here
9 -
This is exactly why they won’t make it any weaker. They know if they do, a lot of players will leave. Content creators will quit playing because they won’t have their hilarious killer outplays by pressing the E button. DH is the survivor fun button - why would BHVR take the fun button away?
8 -
Didn’t some guy say he wanted to see more DH discussion posts? That probably means DH is currently not on the radar to get changed anytime soon. Which is ridiculous.
6 -
Nah, they’re practically the exact same. They both screw you over just for the playing the game which is why they’re both incredibly unfun to go against.

Have you seen some of them? I'd laugh if I were them too.
8 -
Yes. Someone from BHVR encouraged us to talk about DH more. After all the discussions we've had so far, we still haven't gotten a clear answer on whether or not dead nerf will get a real heavy nerf, and instead we just get encouraged to talk about it more.
Meanwhile, we can't even get BHVR to admit whether or not they made Nurse's new chase music purposely super loud, and purposely full of thud noises, to purposely nerf her ability to hear survivors through walls.
6 -
Well, Peanits asked for more DH discussions, so that's what he gets. Anything for our friends at BHVR.
I'm just waiting for someone to turn that into a meme, honestly.
4 -
Oh, I rarely complain. Because unlike you, I can accept that I am not really good at DBD and dont really need to bring the game down to a Level where I win most of my games.
And well... Eruption was objectively unhealthy. One single proc on a Survivor was basically adding half a Gen (again, to make it clear - ONE proc on ONE Survivor equals HALF a Gen...). Let alone that being able to do NOTHING for quite a big amount of time is just not good.
14 -
Is there an arbitrary number of complaints dead hard needs to get, before it gets nerfed? Can we get some sort of progress bar, so we know how many more complaints we need to do?????
29 -
I reckon another 200 threads and eventually the devs will grow tired of it.
By the way, thanks for that picture. It made my day.

The devs buffed killers in 6.1 to be faster, break pallets faster and they nerfed surv perks like ds and self care into the ground. They took away the locker flashlight saves. They nerfed flashlight turn on speeds because of "epilepsy" but everyone knows it was really because killers got tilted at clicking. They tried to nerf eruption but couldn't even stick that one out completely. My guy. The devs ARE killer mains. Eruption is literally impossible to wait out because it depends on someone else's actions most of the time out of view. Dh is just between the killer and the survivor. If the killer doesn't wait it out for a literal split second, and yes, its literally a split second because 1 second was too long for killers in the ptb, thats on them. Just like missing your dh is on the survivor. You guys wanted the dh nerf, you got it with 6.1. Why are you STILL complaining that its OP.
10 -
Lets clog up the whole forums with nothing but killers crying non stop about DH.
Oh wait.......
😏
4 -
I don't think he meant to spam the Forums.
Make a mega-thread.
1 -
Dude, Eruption’s dead as balls now. What are you talking about?
1 -
I sure hope they do, because I know I am
1 -
He did? When did he say that?
1 -
Eh, not really. It's definitely way worse but I wouldn't call it dead.
I suspect we'll see CoB, Eruption, PGTW and Lethal maybe. Maybe Overcharge or Nowhere to Hide slots in there too.
10% regression is still significant and the aura-reading is very nice.
2 -
Peantis.
In the Eruption VS Deadhard thread.
"...That said, I cannot confirm whether or not Dead Hard will be changed, but by no means are we ignoring the discussions about it. Keep 'em coming. ..."
I didn't think he meant in fight form.
5 -
Yeah no...Eruption at least rewarded the killer for playing well and getting consistent downs while also managing to go out of their way and damage gens to keep the pressure applied. DH is just a free 3rd health state at every pallet and against killers like Huntress, Pig, Trickster, Wesker, Twins, Pyramid Head, Knight, and Nemesis. You can say they're on even playing field which I wouldn't exactly get behind but its more agreeable than "Eruption was way more busted than DH ever was." When DH removes any and all pressure you apply by injuring survivors.
9 -
Yeah aura reading when you don't need it :P It's a dead perk. You never going to see it outside a rare huntress (most huntresses don't like kicking gens) and slugging nurses or blights. Only way you going to make the information that it gives you any useful is to slug on a high mobility killer. Just admit it you got what you wanted... eruption was taken out back and shot in the head just like thana, ruin and pop.
3 -
I’ll make sure to run dead hard every single match because of all the dead hard posts.

I don't agree with all the people saying dh is op still, it's not. It's just unhealthy game design, not game balance to have every killer need to bait it out every chase. It was funny after 6.1.0 to watch survivors dab after I bait it out and then hit them but now it's just more tedious than anything else. Some people complain because they don't think when they swing and some just don't have the patience to wait it out. But it is definitively bad perk design.
Excluding maps that make a blight flick for a hit often, that's typically map rng not any particular map. Sprint burst is way better vs blight than dh, but I am just tired of seeing it every game. People also bring up the skillful argument all too often, but it's not that insanely skillful. Just like I don't think alch/ring iri tag blight is ok just because it takes lots of skill and experience to make good.
2 -
People use Surge.
People will use Eruption.
1 -
I agree. It was so broken that for the first 4 years it didn't even work.
1 -
and i'll make sure to tunnel whoever bring that perk at 5gen remaining
3 -
Anyone else waiting in anticipation for the sprint burst hate mob a month after dead hard is killed?
2 -
Eruption has never 'rewarded the killer for playing well', it simply rewards you for playing the game.
There might be an argument for 'playing well' if Eruption expired on a timer, so you were forced to earn a down within so many seconds of the gen kick. At least then you would have to close out chases relatively quickly.
But as it is, Eruption is infinite duration, so you can play like a complete potato and get both hits on a survivor only with the help of bloodlust 3 and it still procs.
You don't even have to pick a specific survivor (like obsession perks) or down them in proximity to the gen. You can just follow whatever moves in front of you and eat pallets until eventually you win the chase by brute force. You *can* win by mind games and skill, but the perk works whether you win by skill or by bloodlust training wheels.
This isn't a perk that rewards 'playing well' or any kind of strategy.
2 -
So holding a 3 gen as knight for 1 hour is good gameplay?
2 -
It's basicly jolt but with no limited radius and auras of the survivors are shown for TEN seconds. Even BBQ and lethal doesn't go that long and those are entire perks dedicated to aura reading. So lethal pursuer plus eruption will be 12 seconds of knowing where the survivors are that were on a gen effected. There's also the fact that it was supposed to be nerfed that the gens only lose 10% of the current progress but they reversed that back to be 10% of total. Eruption has gen regression, aura reading and no cool down. But sure, eruption is totally dead now. I'm sure we won't see anyone using it anymore.
2 -
Peanits? No he literally said that DH wasn't on the radar when planning changes for this update, because it wasn't yet a contentious issue. People were still in the "Wait and find out, maybe it's fine, people are really bad at using it right now" stage and a lot of players overreacted and abandoned the perk meaning useage rates plummeted. This was in stark contrast to Eruption, which was incredibly easy to use, bullied solo queue substantially more than SWF, slotted well into the other meta slowdown perks (unlike before when RuinDying was meta), and was seeing high useage rates within days of 6.1.0 dropping. Update changes get planned out months in advance, and Eruption was slated to be changed next patch instead, but was brought forward because they overestimated how much bandwidth it would use.
As time has gone on, DH has risen in useage and complaint level because people realised maybe they overreacted when saying the perk was absolutely dumpstered, and subsequently it's returning back to the meta with a vengeance. That's why Eruption was changed so quickly (for BHVR standards- it has been nearly 8 months) and why DH isn't yet in line for another change this update.
2 -
After next update, anyone who brings anything but DH will be tunneled into oblivion because of Blood Rush.
And anyone who brings DH will be tunneled because of DH.
And those who don't bring exhaustion will be tunneled because no exhaustion.
Perfect coverage.

Now do DH and pressing E!

All these complaints are just pissing in the wind if the actual data doesn't support it.
Perks get changed when they significantly affect the kill rates.
If DH isn't actually winning survivors any more games, then it's not going to be a priority.
This doesn't discount the issues of whether or not it is 'fun' though.
Frankly, while the perk still has issues, a lot of these complaints are whack, and that doesn't help. If you can't rely on the data to back it up, then you have to make fair arguments, not hyperbole.
The perk is objectively better than it used to be. Now it doesn't give free distance, it doesn't whiff killer powers, and it causes deepwound, which has the compound effect of being prevented by deepwound, so the killer has a way to play around it. It's so much better than it used to be.
That doesn't negate the issue that it fundamentally changes how a killer approaches survivors, is a similar but lesser way to how survivors had to 'not repair gens' to avoid eruption, but that doesn't mean a ton of issues haven't been fixed with this new version.
1 -
Why would I use Eruption for aura reading?
Its like an inverse No Where to Hide, with extra conditions, and a mechanic that allows the only challenging opponents in the game to easily avoid it, if they bother.
The only way I can think to use this would be if I was downing someone around the gen, and kicking it. Literally the opposing team would have to be demanding I fight them, right there. Not that some survivors don't do this, but its never desirable game play.
Its regression is something, but it requires kicking the generators, and unlike No Where to Hide, I won't be kicking them to start a chase, I'll be doing it for a maybe chase later.
I don't see how in a world of 10 minute games, I can use this.
Maybe it'll work out for some close 3 gen camping thing.

25% shorter speedboost, non lunge M1 attacks ignore it. Fixed. Now to wait 6 weeks for midchapter and have them not touch DH in any meaningful way.
1 -
Try that, I’ll make you lose the match 😁
3 -
one dead hard proc can extend chases by up to 30-40 seconds in some situations. that is like additional extra chase for killer. 30-40 second across 3 other survivors is a lot of gen progression. Of course the team has to be gen efficient and the dead hard user needs to time the perk well and avoid getting hit immediately but the rewards are clearly there. with eruption, they weaken reward drastically to weaken the perk. I am not entirely sure how they would weaken DH because the perk does technically do what it is suppose to do. tank hits.
Maybe weaken the reward by having less distance? they did that for decisive strike where stun was changed 5->3 and now the perk is less common. perhaps they might do that for DH.

Blood rush head on meta here we come! Double stun
3 -
omg i know exactly what im doing now

I pull off so many sick ambush attack mind games near loops, only for the survivor to Dead Hard it as soon as the hit lands. If i choose to miss on purpose to "bait it out" they get away while i recover from the missed attack anyways. So a survivor can literally wait at the loop, and as soon as the pig gets close, press E. There's another uncounterable scenario for delusional survivor mains that say "just wait it out".
7 -
Just bait it out mid ambush.

Pig deserves a massive buff, shes so fun to play against (jigsaw box mechanic)

This post is really cruel, bHVR takes this seriously, even tho you may or may not agree with their solutions. Sure they may have a chuckle at work, that's what everyone does. But you go on find the problems and solve them. Its terrible of you to give the idea that bHVR just laugh at our suggestions. There are people here who pour their thoughts, heart and soul into comments and they deserve to be taken seriously, read, analysed and Yes. sensible changes do come along. That's the process and obviously this post is just meant to be demoralizing to people who do gave gripes with Dead Hard. I don't think we should demotivate people to pour their hearts out about this game. Sure it gets analyzed but its still welcome.

Dead Hard stole my bank account and job. I tried to bait it out but that just made it take a mortgage out on my house. :(

You could use parental guidance too if you want to throw them off so you can set up the second locker
