They continue to nerf killers regardless of feedback provided by players

This is honestly a kick to the sack for many killer players.

Most of these perks are now completely invalid, and will lead to lesser perk variety.

This is a bug fix considered by BHVR.

The choices that they're making is beyond ridiculous at this point.

    I might just quit playing killer this week. it’s feeling more and more like a stupid and a pointless waste of time. Only time I do killer now is if I want to farm some bloodpoints to put in a survivor. New killer I’ll get with shards if I get her and I don’t even think it’s worth that

    If I'm reading this right, any scream outside of a 19 meter radius from the killer is instead turned into a Loud Noise notification. Conversely, any scream within a 19 meter radius now uses positional audio.

    Presumably, the various perks, powers and add-ons were handling this differently from one another.

    If my reading is correct, I doubt these perks will work any different than they used to.

    They made the audio 3D and positional, which probably means having to deal with, of all things, sound occlusion.

    And from the look of it, it's not a loud noise outside of 19m, it's a loud noise within 19m if you get the scream. No notification outside of 19m.

    If it's meant to be a notification at a distance, they really screwed up on wording this one.

    I heard MYC no longer gives the visual cue, but honestly I can’t remember if it ever even had one

    I think that in the next hotfix everything will be fixed, it is unthinkable that perks become unusable because of ridiculous mechanics.

    It was not even mentioned in the 'known issues' so I doubt it is a bug at this point

    That's not how I'm reading it.

    "When a survivor screams to reveal their location, the scream will be a 3d scream (instead of a 2d/mapwide scream), with a 19m max range, and a loud noise sfx is triggered."

    It says '-and- a loud noise' -after- the range was declared. If the loud noise also had a 19 meter range, wouldn't it have said 'a 3d scream and a loud noise sfx with a range of 19m'?

    You'd think, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was out of order.

    Although it seems the answer is 'both of these things', because most scream perks are working as described, except Make Your Choice, which is comically useless.

    And I still have no idea what could possibly have prompted this change.

    So I just wanna give my take on the situation

    Some scream perks like Face the Darkness and Infectious Fright caused survivors to scream but also revealed their location with a bubble - The screams were, as the patch notes put it "3-D" screams that fell off at a certain distance - however some perks such as Make your Choice, Dragons, Iron Maiden etc simply made the survivor scream with a "2-D" audio which meant you could always hear it no matter where you were

    This is what they mean by "consistancy" - they want all screams to work the same. It does weaken Make your choice and Dragon's grip quite significantly however. Hopefully they make these perks reveal auras or something as compensation.

    Pig, 115% & 24m TR ----> 115% & 32m TR

    Legion, 110% & 24m TR ----> 115% & 32m TR

    Deathslinger, 110% & 24m TR -----> 110% & 32m TR

    Myers, 115% & 24m TR; Wesker, 115% & 40m TR;

    Blight, 115% & 32m TR, Nurse, 92% & 32m TR

    Some of the TR´s are pretty wack and i wonder when they´ll standardize Myer´s 24m TR to be 32m like it was done on Pig.

    TL : DR, there is nothing that makes sense unless you can read their minds.

    Hey now, if you could read their minds you would probably be declared clinically insane within the hour from being bombarded by these crazy ideas.

    This is what they "do"... there is a whole filter between that and what they "think"

    I have nightmares about the later daily.

    Apparently, it's not even consistent across perks. The scream is silent outside 19m, but certain perks get the notification and others don't.

    All the killers acting outraged in this thread as if they were using any of these perks and not bringing some combo of Overcharge, Call of Brine, Lethal Pursuer, BBQ, Pain Resonance, Dead Man's Switch, Pop, Floods of Rage, Pentimento, Plaything, Nowhere to Hide, No Way Out, Save the Best, Devour Hope, Brutal Strength, Eruption, Deadlock, Surge and Discordance. This is ALL I HAVE BEEN FACING FOR OVER HALF A YEAR. EVERY. SINGLE. MATCH.

    We survivors have been complaining about this oppressive "gen kick" meta for 8 MONTHS and they only just nerfed a single one of those perks.

    I mean come on, they even went and buffed Knight when it should be outstandingly clear he either needs a nerf or complete power rework just because a few whiny killers didn't get a 4k one time and claimed he's weak. Same thing happened with Ghostface and Legion, two killers that were strong as they were made even stronger and more obnoxious.

    If a completely inconsequential update like this makes you quit than good riddance because it's due to killers like you all that dbd has been in the worst state it's ever been in (for survivors anyway).

    Myer's terror radius changes based on his Evil Within tier.

    Tier 1 it's '0' (Undetectable)

    Tier 2 it's 16m, to help him be able to stalk survivors from somewhat close range, while giving survivors warning he is near.

    Tier 3 it's 32m because he is dangerous and stronger.

    Yes nerf everything that isn’t a gen kicking perk

    The real problem isn't if you get a notification or not, the problem is that now if you are outside of that 19m range you won't hear what survivor is affected by the perk.

    I didn't used those kind of perks precisely because if you are far away it was difficult to know what survivor you should go after even hearing the scream if two of the same survivor were in the match. Now, it's impossible. What they should have done is left the 2D sound when you are outside of the 19m range and everything would be "fine", but then it won't be an indirect buff to survivors of course.

    "They only nerfed one of those perks" Yeah, they nerfed the single one perk that was central in a kick gen build and was the best and one of the few advantages a killer would have compared to survivors. And they nerfed it without addressing the gen rushing meta of survivors or touching any survivor meta perk. And they "buffed" the Knight because his power was easily avoidable in long distances which was the original purpose of it (You see the green orb going one way? Run to the other. Problem solved.).

    Now, we have a killer with a power designed to be so counterable that it is ridiculous, a nerf to the killer meta changing the perk that was allowing many killers to at least have a chance at the end of the match (more so after the Status HUD update made almost every game feel like you are going against a full SWF) without touching survivor meta to compensate, and a "fix" to something that wasn't broken and is in reality another indirect buff to survivors, as now many perks are almost useless if you are 19m away of the survivor affected by it.

    So no, killer "like us" are not who is making DbD worst for everyone, it's BHVR listening to people like you who is doing it. And if they keep going that way, I can only see two things happening: Many more killers would tunnel and camp in every game as it is the only way to get a win because the disadvantage they are in, or simply stop playing the game.

    "Good riddance", right? I would love to see if you would say the same when the queues get half an hour long because no killer want to feel like they playing just to be the fun of entitled survivors that only want to tbag at the exit gates.

    "This is ALL I HAVE BEEN FACING FOR OVER HALF A YEAR. EVERY. SINGLE. MATCH."

    And when a bunch of killer perks outside of the meta get nerfed to the point of uselessness like this, that just means you're going to see even more of those meta perks you hate so much, because killers don't have anything else to choose anymore. Honestly, you should be just as upset as the killers are.

    The bug fix around Leverage is not actually in the game - Leverage still applies to self healing (you can test for yourself in the live game) and there's no immediate plans to change that.

    I kind of agree with this... I basically had to relearn how to play against Spirit, and it is possible, just insanely difficult compared to before (keep in mind I have a hearing impairment).

    And unironically addons like Furin are made significantly worse since Furin isnt bugged and works normally (and somehow fixes the directional phasing too... which does in fact mean that Spirit's normal phase audio is bugged. Which btw is the only way I found out that it is bugged and not intended).

  • Caiman
    Caiman Member Posts: 2,960

    That's good, a small bit of relief. I still think it's weak and needs buffs because it's too many limitations on a weak effect, but at least that little detail isn't a problem.

  • Caiman
    Caiman Member Posts: 2,960

    The wiki still says Leverage doesn't apply to self-healing. Whoever are the maintainers should be contacted about that before too many more people get the wrong idea.

    Wait, so does that mean that it affecting self healing is a low priority bug, or was it merely a patch notes mistake? I'm so confused...
