why are backfill lobbies still a thing?
why are we punished with teams way above or below our skill level? i will gladly wait 5 to 10 minutes for a match with equally skilled players instead of being fed to a p50 to p100 swf group already queued up.
i am already annoyed that my mmr doesnt deteriorate after having 4 teams back to back yesterday night i played legion, and wraith and got absolutely schooled with bully squad tactics.
How is that fun for any player trying to get better that doesnt lobby dodge?

It's the lobby dodging combined with preferring shorter queue times over fair-ish matches.

Just keep dodging until you have an empty lobby.

Just keep grinding at it. Once you have the tactics down, bully squads are pretty easy to take apart. They make risky plays and you can punish them for it, especially if they try to do bodyblocking plays. Just slug em and get multiple downs and make sure you face walls to avoid those flashlights, or run lightborn. And while they are bullying you they aren't doing gens. I usually 4k bully squads fairly easily now.
My main issue is when I get a 4 man SWF who gen rush and are individually very good at juicing time out of chases. Those games are much harder. Gotta try and force 3 gen early on and abuse those regression perks.

You might be happy to wait 10 minutes, but the majority aren't.
This was tested last year. The system we have is the one the playerbase preferred in a blind trial.

They played around with the SBMM last year for like a week, where every day they set different parameters and then got feedback from the players. The most accurate day in terms of matchmaking was also the longest queue times iirc, with some people apparently waiting for like up to an hour for a match. The general consensus from the playerbase was that the longer wait times were most definitely *not* preferable just to get the most accurate matchmaking.

The thing is, a large chunk of that playerbase doesn't play anymore. With many of the vets gone, how awful matchmaking is now as a result of post perk overhaul exodus, plus no events going on to bring people in even temporarily, another round of testing/polling needs to be done.
Previously I'd have voted for quicker lobby times, now I'd wait 10+ minutes in a heartbeat to get something close to a balanced match.
In the prior testing they ran a different setup each day, which is very limiting for both sample size and giving players a solid sense of the differences. They should take the top four setups players voted for the last time and run each for one week over the course of a month, then have players rank them one through four. The two least voted for options get dropped, and a new vote is held for the top two (so anyone that voted for one of the two dropped options can at least vote for the lesser of two evils that are left to them).

You think you would, but you wouldn't.
Higher accurate matches actually made the game more sweaty. When you literally 'meet your match' you have to sweat to stand a chance. That was one of the major complaints when they trialled it. Longer waits, for sweatier matches.
A wider range of matches (within reason) is better for the game, because it generates more variety in playstyles.
You don't want to wait 10 minutes for a game when every game is a sweatfest. Waiting 3 minutes for a game when only every other game is a sweatfest is much better, in both aspects. Less sweaty games in general, and less waiting around for those games.

what i am saying is there should be an option just like it is an option to either include cross play or not include it in the menu
1 -
The more options like this you include, the worse matchmaking ends up being for everyone. Having an option for crossplay is already an option too many.
If 50% of the playerbase have this ticked off, and 50% don't, that's two halves of the playerbase that won't be matched with each other, and everyone's matchmaking times just doubled.
2 -
but in theory it would affect me correct? others who dont click on option will have their quick fix games intact and i would just be waiting for a more even match
1 -
It would reduce the number of potential players for everyone who is in the queue.
For those who have the "3 minutes max" options, you're making their matches even worse than they already are, and potentially failing to even find any match within those 3 minutes depending on how many are online and currently queuing for a game.
For those in the "close match with no time limit" option, well instead of 10 minutes you're waiting 20, even 30m+, because it's not a linear scale.
And then you'd get your match after 30 minutes of waiting, and it'd be a super sweaty match that you didn't enjoy at all, and then you'd come back to the forums to complain about matchmaking.
