BHVR should make Amazon Prime released content exclusive to subscribers
Today when I logged in I saw that BHVR had decided to release a skin for Haddie (Online Interview Get-up) to the store and I was disappointed with their choice. When you're paying monthly for content I do believe that you should get some privileges such as exclusive content because the subscribers are paying every month without knowing what content they're gonna get. This is different from the store where people can choose if they want to pay for a certain skin or not. I also think that it's kind of cheap for them to release recolored skins for Amazon Prime subscribers. I do get that they can't pour all their resources into making new skins every month but at least make these skins exclusive to the subscribers.
I'd like to hear your opinions on it as well.

I mean makes sense.

I could care less I get the benefits of prime and free cosmetics and not everything should be exclusive

I disagree. I think BHVR assuming that individuals are solely getting amazon prime/prime gaming for DbD content (that they may or may not like/use) would be naive. Additionally, locking prime gaming rewards behind exclusivity encourages a gambling style/FOMO manipulation of the players. Maybe "predatory" is a better term to describe that business model. Either way, its unhealthy.
Instead, it seems to be more of a collaboration between Amazon & BHVR. A collaboration where players with an active Amazon Prime/Prime Gaming membership (whether b/c of DbD or literally any other reason) can get access to exclusive cosmetics and in-game rewards that may or may not come to the in-game store eventually.
Additionally, just because cosmetics from Prime Gaming reward can and have come to the in-game store. The Devs have never guaranteed that ALL Prime Gaming cosmetics will come to the in-game store. And even if they do, there is no set timeline.
Personally, I think them pushing Hadie's Prime Gaming cosmetic was more due to the community calling BS on the lack of cosmetics she was getting compared to other recently released survivors.
Personally, my issue(s) with Prime Gaming DbD rewards are the following:
- lack of consistency (ex: 1st was 2x artist skins; 2nd was 1x blight outfit [while these are different, I am okay with this due to amount of detail in single blight outfit]; but then we've gotten a single charm; we've gotten a weapon cosmetic; and rift fragments)
- Giving cosmetics to characters who DON'T need them (looking at you Feng). Seriously, they already release Feng cosmetics left and right, why was it necessary to give her a Prime Gaming outfit? Within 2 months Feng received 2x full rift outfits, 1x NEW Lunar New Year (when she already has another one), and a Prime Gaming outfit for that month. I am sorry but that is TOO FREAKING MUCH.
Overall, I appreciate the bonus rewards for simply having Prime Gaming (thru amazon prime), however I still have complaints of my own. That being said, at the end of the day, none of it is why I am paying for Amazon Prime. The Prime Gaming rewards may as well be the mint you receive when leaving a restaurant.
Great Discussion Topic Though. I empathize with your sentiment, even if I disagree.

I think the devs have stated once that the only exclusive cosmetics will be old legacy skins.

Ehm since when has Amazon prime subscription become DBD only?
It gives a ton of other rewards and does not entitle you to exclusive skins in DBD that have to be withheld from the public?
I would call anyone forking out 10-15 dollar/Euro/whatever per month for prime, exclusively for some stupid DBD skins or charms, something that might get me banned here.

Although I kind of get what you mean with "predatory" I think it's just a normal exchange of money and product. I pay BHVR to give me access to exclusive content. It's like every EA game. If they were to encourage players to join Prime Gaming then it would also just be a way for them to increase their revenue and I personally don't think there's anything predatory with that. My issue mostly stems from getting a cosmetic that you think is exclusive to you and other Prime subscribers and then later seeing it being added to the in-game store. It feels kind of like betrayal (can't find a better word for it lol). Originally I did start paying for Prime Gaming because of the DBD rewards but now I get stuff for other games as well. Personally, I don't feel like paying 10 €/$ for just a small restaurant mint. Now I do 100% agree with your personal issues, especially the Feng one.

I feel a lot of players could do with remembering that they are not paying for DBD rewards, they are paying for Amazon Prime and one of the many benefits from the Prime Gaming subset of benefits is DBD content.
They're not paying customers to DBD, they're paying customers to Amazon.
With that in mind, and also remembering that most Prime Gaming rewards are aggressively mediocre, I don't think there's any reason to insist on exclusivity. It's just a little freebie on top of your main purchase, I don't see an issue with other people maybe getting it too later on down the line.

Prime rewards should be something you can use code for, so no cosmetics already in game. Once codes are redeemed if they were for a cosmetic the cosmetic should then be available in the shop, exclusives are lame and cosmetics should be available for everyone. I say this as someone with Amazon Prime and already own the prime cosmetics, I want others who missed out for whatever reason to have the opportunity to get the cosmetics.

In that case they should never rerelease any rift cosmetics bc you didnt buy the associated rift

I don't know how it works but surely, if all subscribers are paying Amazon, then Amazon is also paying BHVR to release Prime Gaming content. Otherwise, why would they do it? Now, personally, I don't use any other Amazon service other than Prime Gaming which is why I don't just see it as a bonus.
I do 100% agree with this. I feel like rift cosmetics should be available during the associated rift and then never again. I think it's cheap of BHVR to rerelease old rift skins instead of making new ones. I do get that there are some people who want old rift skins but I believe that you can't have everything you want and if you weren't there to get it then so be it.

As someone who has prime everyone should get access to the content at some point. I hate FOMO and exclusives and it’s the reason Haddie was abandoned for over a year
Nobody wanted to play her because all her cosmetics were time limited

well said. I appreciate the decision from bhvr to release it in the shop after a while.

I didn't buy that outfit. Others that want it now, they have to pay for it. It doesn't matter to me if they have it. There is a guy in another forum post angry about Rift skins being released in the store... Why should he grind to get them all when they'll just be put in the store in a year. Like... cause you get them essentially free instead of having to pay for them later?

These are fighting words on these forums, people HATE FOMO and sounds like you want more FOMO? No, we have enough FOMO in this game already.
