What Could I Have Done Better?

I do not normally make posts like these since I feel like they fuel the "Us VS Them" mindset within the community, but I have a genuine question here regarding what I could have done better.

Let me set the scene. It is Suffocation Pit and I am playing Ghostface (running SH: Floods of Rage, Lethal Pursuer, Jolt, Shadowborn), I am struggling to get downs and track people because I am Deuteranopia colorblind, once all generators are done, I have 6 hooks roughly and Im in a very awful position since all Survivors are not that far from an Exit Gate that is already open.

I down Detective Tapp at a pallet, they are on death hook, and the remaining 3 Survivors are crowding around the pallet trying to go for a pallet save. I injure everyone and to spread pressure, down the Jane, quickly pick up and hook the Tapp, the Jake picked up Jane but there is 10 seconds left on EGC so I bodyblock them and they die to EGC. I leave with a 3K.

Following the post-game chat, I ended up getting DDOSed.

So what realistically was I suppose to do better given my situation? I am always looking for ways to improve, since I feel like even with thousands of hours my macro and micro game still needs more improvement, but I just really dont know what I could have done better.

    "gg"

    Click continue

    Easy.

Play how you want, if you were just trying to win that's how it goes

Sorry to hear about the DDos thing you mentioned though, some of the most pathetic pettiest people alive play this game it seems.

Sounds to me that you made a great play on your part, taking advantage of the survivors' altruism, and they got salty by it. Don't take their comments too seriously as it seems they were just trying to get on your nerves somehow.

I'm wonder why you still even want to play this game after being ddos'd for simply winning.

You laugh at them and go next, I don't wanna say just survivors but the survivor side does it WAAAAAAY more where they'll find any excuse they can postgame for why they lost. Just today I got brought to cowshed and 3k'd with hatch and postgame they were salty and complained about me relying on slowdown when my build was Brutal/Brine/Devour/Undying lol. People will stack the odds in their favor then lose anyway and complain so don't worry about it you didn't do anything wrong.

TL;DR is Hoes Mad but don't worry about it.

@kingcarl2012 is right, don't feed the trolls.

There is a max amount of attention you should give and if Survivor wants to spend it whining when they should take it and make it constructive feedback and send it to bHVR. You can be generally open to suggestions, but don't get fooled by non arguments. Look and see, @Iron_Cutlass the Green Player does not address your query at all, It is all floppy passive aggressive behaviour from them.

When someone starts being passive aggressive, just type lmao and leave.

Sure. The rare Feedback Giver might be in Post Game Chat, but the Feedback Giver will be know by the quality of their feedback.

Don't let your good will get you into a scuffle in PostGameChat, live is too short for that.

Ignore them,, you played on their altruism and got a 3k because of that and well done, many survivors are sore winners and sore losers,, like I'm pretty sure that unless you picked Tapp under that pallet in front of them so they could save they wouldn't be happy

yknow instead of actually conversing with these guys (which wont happen, you wont change their mind) you just gotta say one of 2 things

womp womp, or booboo wa wa

    works every time

I realize a colorblind mode doesn’t magically fix everything, but you do use that setting, right? Just asking bc the screenshots don’t seem like it

also as others said (and I haven’t read all replies) - you didn’t do anything wrong. There will always be games where you don’t perform your best. Even those supposedly high mmr streamers have these kinda matches. Don’t worry. Nothing you did was wrong (even though i also kind of understand that getting killed with EGC through bodyblocking does kind of feel frustrating - it obviously doesn’t warrant chat abuse nor DDoSing)

I played a game as Meg against the Hag. We opened the gates with 4 Survivors healthy. She camped near a gate, ambushed us and won with 4K. The Hag was both lucky and a good player. We were stupid. End of the story. New day, new game.

Any strategy aimed at winning is legit. I played a game where I was the last Survivor and downed. End of the story, right? No: the Killer hit me over and over, walked around, hit me again and so on. THAT’S not legit. After the game I put up a complaint - something I very seldom do. OTOH, ifyou play to win and you win, always remember that great motto: “I win, they whine”.

From the scene set you did everything correct for playing friendly. The only other realistic option would be to slug everyone for the timer which would get them to complain anyway.

Play as you wish and as people said, don't feed the trolls.

What you could have done better in order to prevent the survivors from getting toxic and ddos you?

Probably nothing. Some people are just plain salty and will use any chance to spread that salt. Doesn´t matter how you played.

Say "gg" and leave, or just leave without any interaction in chat. End game chat is not worth the head ache. As killer you'll get survivors complaining about how you played, as survivor you'll get killer or other survivors complaining about how you played. Just leave and let them scream into the void instead of taking their frustrations out on some stranger online.

As for ddos, nothing you can do. The people doing it are going to find any reason to do it. Sorry it happened to you, that sucks.

    First, say "ggwp".

If they start ANY amount of salt, say "lol ok".

The fact you got DDOSed, however, shows that one of them probably just plays to fish for killer players and try to run them out of the game. As if chasing killer players out of the game would somehow improve things. Or they want the game to die and want to feel the "success" of thinking they are part of what killed it. Regardless, there is nothing you could have done about that, they were committed to that action before they ever entered your lobby.

Ive tried colorblind settings, and they work on some maps, but make other maps miserable. My issue is that the scratchmarks by default are not bright enough for me to be able to see them through grass, all the colors just kind of blend together.

Fair enough.. also on certain maps that’s not even an issue only for colorblind people.

just wanted to make sure you are aware of the settings.

maybe some third party software like ReShade or whatever it’s called? Haven’t tried it myself but as far as I understand this is allowed and may help

Once all the gens are powered, especially if a gate is already opened, "tunneling" and "camping" don't exist anymore, imo. Once there are no gens left, there is no objective left but to salvage what kills you can, and you're totally justified in doing just that by whatever legal means you can.

If a team has been playing well and dominating all game, that doesn't mean they're entitled to the 4E.

As a survivor, I expect nothing to be off the table in the EGC, and neither should anyone else.

And like others have said, don't engage. I will never stop extolling the virtues of disabling endgame chat/messaging.

I'd suggest, along with using the colourblind settings in the game, if you have an nVidia graphics card that you checkout the overlay's filter option. You can increase the brightness of the game, as well as many other visual settings.

Some people always need to tell you why they didn't really really lose, because the sun was in their eyes.

Sounds like you made some good calls at the end and walked away with a 3k, well played.

What to do better well for starters don’t listen to folks in endgame chat they don’t know any better than anyone else.

Play around with the visual settings and ask yourself win or lose are you having fun? If yes then keep doing what you’re doing.

You were supposed to press continue without bothering to open post game chat. I'd turn that nonsense off if I could, for now I just keep it hidden and press Continue.

I've had some very productive/pleasant post game chats, but if they get toxic just get out. They aren't good for you anyway, but the DDOS issue makes it even more pertinent.

Sounded like you did just fine. Because some baby couldn't take the L doesn't mean you did anything wrong.
