Skull Merchant didn't change much
I kinda want to make the stupid joke.
Someone pick up the phone because i called it.
Not one day in, and i already see that this changes didn't do much for her besides making her stronger at holding 3 gens, the opposite of what the devs intended. She still only works for that strat and she is more effective in that strat.
This is so funny.
I am not even mad at bhvr, because most people thought that this changes were gonna make her weaker at 3 gen strats. And it's probably not as braindead as before, but she is stronger overall and trapped survivors not being able to disarm drones made her stronger at 3 gens then before.
Nice try, but better luck next time.
This killer's power was a mistake. Can't wait to see what kinda Frankenstein changes she is going to get.

I don’t think it made her stronger but it feels slightly the same. You can feel the fact your drones aren’t coming back as much, but the claw traps are the same, and the play style is the same.
she just needs an entire rework. I just can’t see her power working outside of 3 gen lock

Do you know this from your matches? Because one day isn't that much to know for sure how problematic something is.
Personally, her 3 gen seems weaker to me now. But of course trapped survivors not being able to hack drones may still be too much for her 3 gen, hard to say at the moment. On the other hand, getting rid of that would mean she would need major buffs in other areas.
Personally I do not hope that they completely rework her. I for one very much like her design, I just hope that the devs continue to keep an eye on her, and if she really does turn out to still be a problem, that they add further changes to her, to really fix her.
It needs to be said however that she might be fixed automatically with the meta shake up we will hopefully see right now. Skull Merchant being a problem with 3 genning isn't just a problem of her, but the state of the game she released in. In a different version of DBD, she might have never been a problem in the first place. So I could see the devs wanting to wait and see how the meta shake up affects her before she receives more changes.

It really doesn't take a genius to immediately spot something problematic. This idea that "you just haven't waited long enough to be sure" needs to stop being an excuse for the developers' utter lack of competence, especially when it comes to this abomination of a killer.
These changes did next to nothing to stop her 3 gen camp strat. Back to the drawing board I guess.

I'm honestly not expecting much at this point. I do know my time is valuable, and I've given myself a time limit of 25 min when it comes to these sorts of 3 gen SM games. By then I'll have surely maxed gen repair points and I'm no longer getting anything for my time. That's all players can do. It's one killer out of 30+ and I doubt I'll see her much anyway (already barely do) so I've accepted this is how she'll be played. Anything else will be a pleasant surprise.

This killer is a complete failure, no tweak will fix her but a complete rework from scratch

What do you mean "back to the drawing board"? BHVR's job is already done. They did the same kind of balance pass they always do whenever they release a disaster of a killer, where they inadvertently buff what they were already good at and make them unbearable to play against; and that's how they'll stay for the foreseeable future.

This is what I have been saying as well.
They should killswitch her and rework her completely. And then bring her in a new state with a Refund-option for those who dont like the reworked Skull Merchant.

I don’t think she’s better at a 3 gen, I think she’s objectively worse. However this feels like an overall nerf to an already weak killer. It made her better at things she’s still not good at but made her only viable strategy worse. This killer needs an entire rework, she fundamentally broken.
3 -
Asking for a rework is essentially the same as asking for a free chapter. "Reworking" is basically delete the character and make a new one with the same look and name. Since clearly people feel nothing but a completely change of her is gonna fix things. That's a lot of dev time for 0 return.

Did I mention that I told y'all so? Because, you know, I told y'all so.
Start by removing the unhackable status if a claw trap is near, which makes exactly zero ######### sense if you're trying to tone down her 3'genning and proves they don't playtest correctly, if they sign off to such an counterproductive feature which is already illogical on paper. Then give her whatever else to buff chase. Then we'll talk.

why would 3 gen be changing for her? she is designed 3 gen killer. that is how territory killer work. they have terrible early game and they look to win the game at 1 gen. end-game killers essentially. I do not understand why they would be weakening a D-tier killer. I would consider their changes to skull merchant as refinement. They were refining her power as tracking & instant down were pretty irrelevant vs strong survivors. Now her power is a little better at the chase. Ultimately she is m1 killer so do not expect m1 killer to be S-tier or anything.

The "return" for fixing a bad product is restoring faith in your customers and increasing the likelihood that they will be willing to support your future products. As well as positive recommendations to friends who may be considering the same.
It could be considered particularly important if, say, you were launching a big new product soon, maybe on April 4th, hypothetically...

Yea after the Skull Merchant chapter I'm literally never buying anything from them with real money unless it's a licensed chapter.
3 -
Yeah... she's still boring imo, terrible to verse in my opinion as you're constantly just trying to crack a 3 gen open, doesn't chase survivors at all (which is understandable because she'd most likely lose the game)... her drones need more re-works done to her unfortunately.
I'm fine with a killer that's strong (nurse) because at least they will somewhat chase you. However, I find this killer chasing the generators more than the survivors themselves.. :|
Hoping for the best..

SM players just need to be smarter about deploying their drones, otherwise she stills operates within the rules of a walking m1 killer with good 3 gen defence
1 -
“I’m surprised!” said no one.
3 -
I literally have vsed her 2 times on launch and not 1 since

Well I disagree, and no it's not an excuse. I for one think these changes helped. Her 3 gen is of course still strong, but in a healthier way, because now it makes her downing power stronger, as opposed to her defending power allowing her to make matches last 60 minutes. That has at least been my experience. Things and changes aren't always as obvious as they might seem at times. Sometimes yes, sometimes no.
Also, you can "demand" the devs to go back to the drawing board as many times as you want, doesn't mean they're going to do so, lol. Many people agree that 3 gen is not necessarily a problem of Merchant herself, but of the state that the game is in right now. I had a match on RPD against Nurse with 3 blinks, who could easily just blink to 3 seperate gens at once. 3 gen is not only a Skull Merchant problem, that's for sure.
So I am positive they will want to monitor Skull Merchant a bit after the meta shake up we are probably getting in a few weeks before making any more changes to Skull Merchant. So probably no Skull Merchant drawing board for a bit.
That is of course provided that the meta shake up actually addresses the 3 gen meta in some way or form.

As much as I would like to go back to a meta that requires interaction with survivors in order for killers to benefit from regression perks, the fact of the matter is that with the meta we have now, Skull Merchant can obviously still pick a 3 gen, slap on CoB and Overcharge, and drag out games for ages. They either need to change the perks sooner rather that later or change the killer sooner rather than later, again.
4 -
I said she needed a complete rework on the PTB. That's still the case. She's still awful to play against.
8 -
Pretty much. Which is why i am hoping that the mid chapter patch will indirectly fix skull merchant.
Otherwise, trapped survivors will have to also be able to hack drones, with the caveot that it recharges their claw trap battery and sends the drone back to skull merchant after 10 seconds.

BHVR would never kill switch a new killer. We saw this with knight who has 2 pretty game breaking bugs with neither warranting a kill switch
I’m betting the merchant changes are done for now and she’ll settle at a decent kill rate due to her 3 gen potential and low play rate
2 -
The problem of the killer now is if you want to do better in chase you need claw traps on mutiple survivors. To reach this the survivor need to deactivate the drones. To make the survivor deactivate the drones you need to put them near the gens. Means the drones are again useless in chase. Basicly they nerft the 3 gening for the survivors and buff the killer very very slightly in chase, but only for the very start of the chase, because one min isnt much and you need time to reach the survivor. I would say the killer is even weaker now, but more fun to play against.

she is also awful to play dont forget

The return is that players would be play more and maybe enjoy the game. So ty would get more players and they probebly by mor skins and stuff
