Another Mid-Chapter Complaining Post
Really not thrilled about a number of the changes proposed for the upcoming PTB, on both sides. Some of the changes (like those to Call of Brine and Overcharge) seem pretty ok. I don't use Dead Hard so I can't really speak to that. The two changes that are most concerning to me are those to Scourge Hook Pain Resonance and Circle of Healing. Here's why:
Pain Res - only allowing four activations per match is literally not worth the perk slot. At the very least, there should be some way to earn back tokens. Being able to slow down gens is one of the best tactics killer players have, and to have one of the most fair perks for that totally gutted feels really unreasonable.
Circle of Healing/Medkit Changes: These changes primarily make the solo queue experience that much more miserable. It's not hard for people on voice comms to coordinate group healing sessions. It's next to impossible for solo queue players to do so, which is why being able to self-heal, even at a lower speed, within a certain radius, is so invaluable. I don't have a problem with the base heal speed now taking 24 seconds, except when considering how that interacts with perks like Sloppy Butcher and Self Care. Basic self care will now take over a minute to complete, and with perks like Sloppy Butcher and Coulrophobia, healing yourself one health state will now take nearly 90 seconds. In a more extreme example, you could end up with an Oni who has his power indefinitely. Again, these are the kind of perk interactions that teams on voice comms can get around with next to no effort, but will seriously gum up the works for anyone playing solo queue. This boils down to two major points:
- Circle of Healing should still allow survivors to self-heal within its radius
- Percentage values on Self Care, Sloppy Butcher, and Coulrophobia need to be majorly modified.

Circle of Healing should still allow survivors to self-heal within its radius
No. That is literally the problem with it. That has always been the problem with it: one survivor and 14s in an isolated area of the map, now everyone has old self-care.
The overcharge and CoB changes aren't really okay, because even if they hadn't touched Pain Res, the only halfway functional regression perks are pain res (semi-unreliable scourge hook perk) and Jolt (half the Killers can't use it). Every regression perk has either been nerfed in 6.1.0, or de facto deleted afterwards. <_>

And yet again BHVR hasn't even glanced at Gen Speed Perks, Tool Boxes, or BNP so Survivor side Gen Meta is left unchanged...

I respectfully disagree regarding Circle of Healing! Again, these changes will make literally no difference to swf, who can coordinate easily to heal, but absolutely kills solo queue players' ability to reset on their own, which you often have to do.

Gen regression can't be strong if healing is going to take this long. The direction they seem to be going here is that slowdown should mostly come from injuring survivors. If they did the healing change with strong regression killer would be too strong.

Then make them do something else, don't make them all incapable of doing what they're meant to. Have CoB reset the usual regression if you drive a Survivor off without needing another kick. Make Overcharge more about skill checks. Lots more.
If you don't want direct regression, change perks that do that to do something else. And stop making them too bad to use instead.
Conversely, SWF could coordinate easily to take advantage of CoH and avoid being interrupted and let everyone know to stay on their gen perfectly.
And if a team-buffing perk was being used because it let solo players heal like they have Self Care, you can immediately spot the problem with it.

That's fair. The only thing I would say to that is they seem to be pushing a new direction which requires large changes to happen simultaneously and reworking these perks would add even more required work. These changes really need to all be done at the same time so I find it understandable that they kinda just gutted and move on with these problematic perks, but it isn't unreasonable to ask for them to rework the perk instead of just nuking them into worthlessness.

so we should buff solo queue, right?
