Are there really no changes coming to solo queue matchmaking?

Is there anything on the radar to improve the matchmaking of solo queue? The HUD is fine, but it doesn't do anything when there is often one player in the lobby who straight up can't function in whatever MMR you've thrown them in. The game just isn't fun when players are hard throwing games because they're in way over their heads and fail to even crack 5k points.

It's not like it's a rarity. The whole catalyst behind this post is having a relatively bad player in so many games this weekend that rendered them unwinnable. Solo queue games often feel like a 3v1 as soon as you load in. You've turned matchmaking so casual that the game is relatively unplayable at most hours of the day unless you're in a minimum 2 or 3 man SWF. Unless you force the matchmaker to give you a close match, it's pulling anything and anyone into that lobby.

This isn't a spooky horror game against a powerful killer to many experienced players who treat the game more competitively. I'm not saying this game is a true competitive game, but it's not fun to lose because there's the OW equivalent of a silver player in a GM lobby. It's a complete waste of time. I feel like I should be doing something else with my time when I get games like this. It's one thing if it's a matter of "right idea, bad execution" on the part of those players, but they straight up don't know what to do and look completely lost.

I don't mind taking an L when the killer is really good, teammates are really good, and it's a back and forth slug fest. What I do mind is dying to a 600 hour killer who straight up can't catch me but ends up 4k'ing because one or two teammates don't have their monitors turned on. Then I feel like I should be playing a different game.

they just made solo the same level as swf. sometimes its even better information with exact gen progress displayed rather than estimates from voice comms.

survivors being bad isnt a dev issue.

Honestly I think a lot of it has to do with the number of players, there needs to be 4 survivors for 1 killer so we end up with level disparity between survivors because matchmaking would be too long otherwise. SWF don't suffer from MMR as bad because there's less people to be matched with, but also it's not because people play badly that they're not usually the same level as you, there's plenty of survivors who just do their challenges or just feel like not doing anything ig.

My survivor experience is much better when the role incentives are in favor of killers, so I assume it simply has to do with the number of survivors currently playing (but yes it sucks and I don't want to wait over 5 minutes for a chance at a decent game)

literally everyone in every game with matchmaking thinks their MMR is too low and they are playing with people so much worse than them and the matchmaking is surely broken and its just so unfair.

you arent as good as you think you are and the matchmaking works fine. work on getting better rather than looking down on the players around you.

So today I won 3 games out of 9. My average chase time was 3 minutes. I made a trapper need to use the anti infinite mechanic just to down me at the OP LT wall.

Just doing an update! Played the 10th game and obviously that was a loss. I was wondering if you can give some tips on how to get better. I ran the killer for about 10 minutes and was hooked twice. Any time I wasn't in chase or saving I was resetting or on a gen. Thanks in advanced!

At some point u wanna actually win and go on streak to validate your skills but in solo q it impossible. It doesn't matter how well u can run the killer yourself as u always got someone who go down instantly on the team. Your match with people that can easily be tunnel often and people who have no idea what to do in certain situations. Solo q will forever be cannon fodder for little Jimmy 50 blight streak. 3 to 4 man SWF is the only way to constantly win with your skill. People Delude themselves into thinking winning dosen't matter as long as i had fun. They say they wanna just "have fun"......but soon they start losing to much their attitude change. Winning is fun for a lot of people and solo q almost never win. So why even play it? Look through these forums and Twitter everytime they bring up solo q win rate. The majority people say they win 2 out of 10 of their matches.

You did not even read OPs post.

This is not about the HUD. The HUD does not help with the skill of your teammates. Or tell them what to do.

A horribly large number of my teammates either AFK in lockers or crouch around the edges of the map. How do I improve my MMR? Even if I do like they do and hide from the moment the match starts, waiting for the hatch, hatch escapes do NOT increase MMR. Anyway, I'd rather uninstall the game than waste my time hiding for multiple entire matches, that is neither fun nor a gameplay loop that should be supported.

Considering I do not AFK or hide all match, I actually participate, I should not be in lobbies with these players so freaking often.

How do I enter this famous solo queue? Been looking for this button for over six years. Is there a secret button combination I have to press?

There is nothing that can be done.

I actually don't think my MMR is too low. The complaint is about the matchmaking, not about the tuning of MMR. I have plenty of killer games where I 4k at 3-5 gens too. The matchmaking in this game is ridiculous, and it's fair to point that out. This isn't me saying that I'm a god at the game, but it's indicative of a problem when there's a consistent theme of a player over-performing against a killer in the same trial that another teammate struggles in to a noticeable degree. It's noticeable on killer too. There's often one player who is completely out of place.

It really does feel like it. What I didn't mention in my original post was that I frequently play in a 4 man SWF too. We have a combined ~20k hrs and track our results. Over the last two weeks, killers managed a grand total of zero hooks in 7 of our games, just north of 10% of our total matches. So we are all either individually awful players who combine to form the MegaZord when we're in SWF and return to our normal selves in solo queue, or matchmaking in this game is awful.

probably just shows how much of an advantage using coms is, 4 randoms trying to interact via sign language is going to be a mess

The only possible solution would be if matchmaking spent more time on finding skilled players, instead of finding a quick match. Eliminating lobby dodging too by hiding prestige level, player names, and characters would probably help too.

"Fixing" this in a casual game is going to be pretty hard I think, because a lot of players are just messing around sometimes which is hard to account for.

If there is one buff I'd really like for soloQ though, it'd be to show your teammates your perks in the lobby or loading screen. Just imagine a loading screen that is 4 banners, with all survivor perks, items, and offerings listed.

awhile back, they reduced buffer because killer players complained that their matches were too sweaty/difficult. I vaguely remember the number but I do not want to say it. Its mostly related to that. SWF is really strong though. a good 80% of killer have no chance to compete against swf because a lot of killers are balanced really bad players and not balanced around challenge and competitive gameplay experience. it is little sad, but that is just how the game is.
