So you want to turn another super deadly and nearly immortal monster into an entertaining clown who can be stopped by palettes and flashlights? Like Demogorgon and Nemesis? π
I mean, I would appreciate that, but I don't believe in that dream. It's just like Jaws and Godzilla...

Sadako

didnt jill literally drop a pallet on a stronger nemesis in re3make
1 -
I wouldn't call poor Sadako a monster, but yes, she's definitely an unstoppable evil. Actually π
This is unfortunately true. Maybe a little tribute from Capcom to BHVR?^^ Ok, if we see a xenomorph getting a palette into its face in the next Alien movie, I'll revise my statement π

Do it now and save the wait.

Alien would be really cool to have.
I think if they can make it happen they will. Next chapter? ...i donΒ΄t know.
1 -
Lmao imagine a flying shark chasing survivors, but having to stop at Sadako's wells to take a "breather" or a massive Godzilla stomping on the T and Ls/junglegyms as it chases the tiny survivors π

Absolutely yes
Although if you want a unique concept for it, that justifies having an absolutely OP final phase:

Unfortunately what makes a Xenomorph scary is it's ability to run up walls etc it basically can't be contained as its smart enough to break out and when it does it can go anywhere.
This kind of erratic run on nearly any surface is a large part of the reason why people are scared of spiders.
Putting that kind of monster into the flat plane chase environment of DBD would be kinda underwhelming. Unless it had the ability to run up and over walls which would make it completely broken.

I'd argue that ability isn't the most important factor for a Xenomorph.
Alien: Isolation is largely regarded is the best Alien game, as well as being canon, and the Xenomorph in that game literally just stomps about through corridors looking for you, between scurrying in and out of ceiling vents.

I donβt know about you but I think most people would still be terrified when facing something like a Xenomorph even if it couldnβt crawl walls/ceiling like spiders.
also, would argue that itβs not a large part for spiders being scary as animals like geckos can also climb and donβt have that many people being afraid of them?
also also, we have nurse who can directly port through every wall and asset, I feel like climbing etc would not break the game balance wise.. (though it is pretty much impossible to implement)

Chucky: Next Killer
Or I get sad. Its true.
lol, but yeah. Alien would be cool.

Yes but compare playing as the Xenomorph restricted to a 2d plane (ala DBD chase) to playing it in a game like AVP where you have the free form ability to run up walls, hang out on ceilings and lunge on people from above. I just think DBD by design couldn't do it justice.
Same goes for the predator, without having that jump through the trees and murder people from above element it would lose something. Hunting grounds does it ok, but DBD just isn't set up for that kind of dynamic chase.
Playing as the alien in Alien isolation would probably be pretty lackluster too.
If going for 80's icons I'd say the terminator makes more sense than a Xenomorph within the confines of DBD's mechanics.

Actually when you test humans in fear response to arachnids, how they move influences results to a much higher level than a lot of other measured parameters. (I spent a year throwing spiders at people and measuring fear response, when they offer you the 10 bucks to participate in research be sure to read the fine print).
I'm not saying it couldn't be done just that I think it would be kinda underwhelming given the high quality of player experience you already have available for the Xenomorph in other games.
Also Nurse has some limitations to how her power works that would be completely trumped by just being able to run up and over walls/obstacles freeform like a Xenomorph so its not really a direct comparison. I just can't see a way to implement it that really would be a satisfying inclusion of the Alien.

Same tbh

I'd be cool with being camped and tunneled if it was an xenomorph.

IKR?! Definitely worth anything thats thrown at me if its a Xeno :D

Alright everyone, 'The' Trapper here again. Thanks for the ideas. I talked with me agent and he's going to get in touch with BHVR. Thanks again.

Dear god thanks for the heads up
Iβd be screaming

That's the idea. ποΈ

I don't really have any 'if we don't get this chapter i'm gonna uninstall' licenses, I just think I would be nice to get something from The Dark Pictures Anthology or Until Dawn, thought they're not really high on my wishlist

:)
i did not forget

It's gonna be Phasmophobia

Well with BHVR now partnering with Supermassive Games, we can always hope

Plus, it hides in shadows and can even enter vents. And: pretty fast! Make no mistake: graphics and audio would be amazing. But it would be too slow. It would be the laughing stock of the roster.
1 -
I mean, we'll get Nicolas Cage (a real horror icon, lol). At this point, everything is possible.
I called the Alien liscence for anniversery, instead we'll get prob the 3rd unfun killer in a row.
A Xeno is still possible this year. Crawling on walls not gonna work, just think of outdoor maps.
But it could jump OVER loops and/or use the facehugger eggs on hooks.

I know you're joking but I actually want that now.
1 -
I really do want a Power Rangers chapter with BHVRs dark twist .

Yeah this is kinda my point, while thematically it would fit I just don't know how they would implement it mechanically and still keep that alien feel.
By very design the alien would decimate anyone in the world of DBD just because of its design, it would be fast able to climb on any wall it's not bound by the limitations of a dbd map/chase and to bind it like that would make it not be the alien anymore.

There is a theory that Human beings are genetically evolved to be frightened by things that scuttle. A lot of insects that humans encounter are parasitic, poisonous, or harbingers for disease, so having a natural reflex fear of something making this kind of movement is evolutionarily advantageous.
If the Alien would crawl over Windows and had the power to do the same with pallets, and it could crouch low on all falls but go into a dash, you could still get something resembling the scuttle you're thinking of to a good effect...
The idea of the alien sprinting at me on all floors across Shattered Square looks pretty horrifying in my mind xD
0 -
Huh, well isn't that something.
0 -
Well yeah that was my point, at a neuro level people aren't specifically scared of spiders rather the motion of spiders. Hence why they apply the same fear response to even harmless insects that move in a similar way.
You can induce the fear response with an erratically moving black dot in a lot of test subjects.
Herein lies the problem with trying to mechanically implement the alien in DBD, you go from scary giant monster that can run up and over any surface to creature stuck in 2D plane chase mechanics.
How do you have the alien run all over the walls and basically ignore any terrain feature designed to shield survivors and create the chase?
Think of how the alien moves in AvP, that captures the alien really well and basically renders any wall irrelevant, which in DBD meansany structure is useless as well as pallets.
If you remove that then it just a creature with lunge and that's just demo again.
I've seen people argue that nurse can skip thorough walls but she does it in a very specific way that still requires prediction and guess work with the walls acting as a barrier.
As the alien if implemented to fully capture what a xenomorph is, (i.e. in AvP) then you could just dash up and along any wall and pounce straight onto a survivor, there might as well be no wall there.
1 -
The comparison to Demo is fair. It's a shame Netflix are being funky about the Stranger Things license... might have made a cool legendary skin π
Wall scaling might be one way to go if mechanically possible, but as you ssy is likelyvto cause problems for balance... Another possible idea to get this flavour would be advanced vaulting, where instead of going straight through windows in a straight line, the Alien could instead climb through able to look left or right, and would crawl through the window along the wall in that respective direction.
Upon completion the Alien could either drop off the wall to chase normally, gaining a little extra distance in chase with its window vault, or lunge off the wall with a leap, like a bigger hitbox Viktor...
If that's not enough of a power, maybe have the alien able to quickly run up a wall and leap from it as a sort of terrain dependent lunge.
I'm spitballing for fun at this point, not seriously considering it π
