Why is item consumption still a thing?
Items are already lost if you die and addons always get deleted, so why is using something like a syringe deleting a medkit when it can just be made to remove all item charges instead?
Losing an item on a game you escape just because you used an addon that would've been deleted anyway is just annoying.

So you keep buying them in the bloodweb.

so ideally you cant bring the most broken set up into every match but people are nerds and will farm 500 alchrings in a week

Hell, killers lose everything regardless of they win or not, it's not like losing things will be problematic from design perspective.

As they should because I'm talking about items, not add-ons. Killers don't have to "buy" their power in the bloodweb.

I don't understand much of the difference between two tbh.

Able to keep Addon after a match would be Huntress able to bring Iri hatchet and survivor able to bring 4 BNP every match.
Able to keep Item after a match would be items become basekit for survivors just like powers are basekit for killers
I had an idea that items are free for survivors, but only have 1 variation of them and nerf them by half.

Now I see, just like you said it makes more sense to make it infinite I guess.

Correct !!!

It's to balance Styptics and Syringes because of how strong they are. If it depleted your charges instead of deleting your medkit entirely, you'd be able to bypass this downside with BTL. It also means you're encouraged to bring those strong addons on weaker medkits because losing them isn't as big of a deal. Given how powerful those two addons are, I think it's fair the way it is.

Huh, BTL doesn't respawn active add-ons. Toolboxes don't get deleted by BNP and BNP doesn't respawn when you use BTL.
Edit: Didn't read properly oopsie. Anyways, you'd be using a perk slot for it, and on top of that the item wouldn't have the active add-on because they don't respawn. You'd just get the item back at 99% charge with only 1 addon.

You wouldn’t get the addon back but you’d be able to get your item charges back after using the addon if it worked that way.
It just helps discourage super strong items from being brought as often with the best addons which is a good thing. It doesn’t prevent you from doing it but it limits their availability together.

Maybe, but I don't think a survivor should be using a medkit THAT much, they won't really get value out of BTL. A green medkit with gel dressings, a syringe and a great skill check gives you 3 heals. That should be enough for the entire match.
Perhaps "marking" the item so that it isn't eligible for BTL could be an option, but I don't think that'd be easy enough to code for the devs to bother with it.
Also medkits are getting nerfed for obvious reasons so it's even less likely :s

Honestly? nothing should be "fine" just because it's rare, using rarity as a downside is stupid.
