Anonymous Mode for Console
So is there like...a legitimate reason why console players can't have anonymous mode?
Even if it was unintended, anonymous mode worked just fine on console when it was there...so why remove it? How come PC players get anonymity but I have to risk being harassed by another player after the game just because I didn't play perfectly to their standards, or because I got a kill? It just doesn't make sense to me why BHVR would basically encourage that especially knowing how toxic their playerbase can be...

They probably did it so they're "special" group of players could derank their MMR anonymously since they were catching flak for some of them doing it and letting it be known because they don't get a DC penalty either

honestly wouldn't be surprised.

Because they overrode features that the console platforms require to be present in their version of the game. You can't blame the developer for this given the requirements that need to be met for the game to be available on your platform store. PC stores don't have those sorts of requirements which is why PC players can use it.

Thank God it's gone.
I can dodge my fan club again and this makes me happy

This is why
Btw anonymous doesn't do what you want it to. On Steam you can use steam overlay, view players, and then recent players and people with anonymous mode still show up there. It only protects your identity for that match, after it people can find it. I also heard that you could do a similar thing on console when anonymous mode was usable there.
If you want to stop harassment you have to block communications. It's unfortunate but it is what it is.

You're kidding

This anonymous mode is pretty strange to even have anyway. I think on consoles I read they cannot do it because if violates some rules or some such.
On Steam it only partially keeps you anonymous since you can just look up the recent players list and deduce who the 'anon' is right quick. If someone on Steam really wanted to be anon they could just private their profile and change their in game name whenever it suits them.
So this entire feature seems pointless.

No, it is very much in my best interest to dodge them.
They love my so much that I get spammed with messages and my internet mysteriously shuts off for hours after I play them.
So yeah, I very much prefer to just dodge them.

Console can have it BHVR just doesn’t want to do it cause it involves work and they only do that randomly. Other games have anonymous mode on console but BHVR loves steam, epic/ pc players which have all the hackers and say screw console players

On XSX we still have the option. But ppl told me it's only working on my side as others still will see my name.

According to BHVR (@Mandy, more specifically) they cannot override platform-specific settings. On Xbox, it is mandatory that people's playertags are shown according to previous communication, and that the previous implementation would override that requirement, which is why it was removed.
The most recent Mid-Chapter Patch Notes now state that Anonymous Mode is available on consoles.
What I believe is happening is that settings yourself to Anonymous Mode will hide your name, like it would on Steam or Epic Games, for other platforms that don't have the requirement to show your name, however on platforms that do it would act as if Anonymous Mode isn't present.
But I can't test that theory just yet, because I don't have the time nor the mobile data to install 4 sets of updates on my Switch and my main internet is only good for things that don't take a whole lot right now.

Playstation now has it and it works fine. I saw several other Playstation players using it last night.

In short, other plattforms won't see my gamertag when i'm using anon-mode in DBD on Xbox, only other Xbox players will? As i said, we still have the option. In Sea of Thieves, which is a Microsoft first party titel it works for all players, Xbox and PC.

That's my working theory as of current, yes.
