The answer
AUTODIDACT... yes, that is correct. However in order for this to be the real answer it needs an adjustment. It's actually pretty perfect on paper but in game there is an issue. While using this perk the chances of getting a skill check while healing another survivor without a medkit is roughly .0000000000000000000001% which is a serious problem with the perks functionality.
Ok, so maybe that percentage is slightly exaggerated combined with me not knowing exactly how percentages in the game are calculated but this is what I do know. In a game of KYF a dying survivor inflicted with mangled under the full 4 stack de-buff of Thanatophopia and Coulrophobia with Unnerving Presence active, I was able to heal the dying survivor to full health in direct line of sight of the killer(using Spine Chill) and only receive 3 skill checks. Under normal circumstances I would have to complete 4-5 full heals befor I would have 5 stacks. This is not ok, nor reasonable.
If this perk were to be viable it needs to be adjusted to guarantee a healing skill check in a timely manner, say every 5-7 seconds maximum. I'm not saying to just give away 5 tokens on the first heal every time but there needs to be some sort of balance. Survivors should expect to have 5 stacks after completing their 3rd heal and the 2nd should be expected to be quicker than base time at the very least.
OR, revert the perk to only 4 tokens and make them worth 20% progression. Meaning at full stacks a good skill check would net 80% progression instead of only 75%. Subtracting the original 25% penalty means we need 1 less token to gain a 5% buff. Not a huge difference but certainly makes the perk much more viable.
The last option I can think of in order to make it a high risk versus reward perk would be when all 5 stacks are achieved then the initial 25% penalty is removed. Meaning the perk functions the same but at full stacks a good skill check gives a straight 75% progression.
With healing being nerfed in a way that only effects high tier play(which accounts for maybe 5% of all matches played) and the mangled/hemorrhage combo being run more commonly by killers than Hex:Ruin ever used to be befor it was adjusted survivors need to be thrown a bone. Not a buff, a bone. There's a difference.

Mm I think C3tooth is right (and a good artist), no idea what you're talking about OP. Autodidact is the solution for what exactly? Base healing times didn't get nerfed they justbreworked medkits and CoH to nerf self heals.
And auto didact has always been kind of meh. But the skill checks trigger regularly enough. I usually get 2-3 on my first heal so when first heal is finished I've removed the detrimental skill checks and then my healing flies all game. Don't get what the issue is.

It's the answer to what? It probably would've been pretty effective with their original plans to change healing, but those changes didn't go live. You can't autodidact yourself, so.....
Also, the reason that Autodidact CAN be so strong is because of the randomness. It can single-handedly win you some games, but can also be a pretty major hindrance. If the skill checks weren't random, they'd have to turn the numbers way, way down.
You're saying you don't want it buffed, but you want the randomness removed, fewer tokens required, and increase the heal percentage by 30%?
It's fine the way it is and can be a fun perk to use. Hopefully, more people start using it.

The idea you're trying to get to his to have Autodidact guarantee at least 1 skill check per heal.
However, you insulted C3, therefore, I sentence you to Solo Q for all eternity.

youve never got 3 tokens in 1 heal with Autodidact, stop the cap please.

i didnt insult him, i just assumed he was a child because posting pictures with a saying on it is something children do. adults would state their claim using sentences. maybe i was wrong and he is just lazy. who knows.

i guess the theory of this isnt that great because unless you are in comms or at the absolute highest MMR then even with We'll Make It teammates run from the hook on the top deck of the Thompson house all the way to the basement on The Game befor they let us heal them even if the killer is shown in chase with all 5 of the obsessions in lower temple of Red Forest. Anyway, you get the point. Teammates dont let us heal them as long as medkits, boons, and self care exist.
