For less tense and frustrating games, pips should not go down. What do you think?
The one moment in the game where I strictly play for fun and without a care is when I'm iridescent 1.
Below that rank,, every time I'm only missing a pip to rank up, I play hard and harsh and there is no fun to be had for anybody in the match. Once I get my rank, I play more relaxed for a few games and the cycle repeats.
I'm certainly not the only player with that behavior. I don't think it's healthy but a tiger doesn't change his stripes.
I don't care if pips get harder to get, I just don't like to lose them. It would be so much nicer for everybody.

Lots of people agree depipping should be removed, but BHVR hasn't acknowledged it at all.
I had a survivor match the other day where someone died early, the other two disconnected shortly after, killer found the hatch and I managed to scratch through the exit gate and escape, avoiding NOED in the process. But because the match was so short and I had barely gotten to do anything, I still depipped. It's an awful feeling, caused by awful design.

couldnt agree more, pip downs make everyone more frustrated and causes more toxicity within the community.

Just had a match where the killer gave up and went idle in the first 2 minutes. We finish the gens and left. I depipped.
Seriously, I still don't know why this still exists.

Yeah, de-pipping really doesn't make sense now that Grades are totally separate from matchmaking.

That alone should be a reason to change that mechanic. What are they afraid of? Less frustration?
Ditto.
Another good point.
We should probably complain a bit more about it, and more often. They may get the hint. (Or explain why they don't agree.)

People pushing and stressing out over grades is still something Ive never understood
Removing depipping I dont have an issue with, but there are just so many other issues that are way more important.

I don't see how it would solve any problems.
This is a QoL change, because grades mean nothing.
Maybe I'm built different, but I haven't paid attention to pips since 2019, and I hit Iri 1 any time I play at least 7 days of the month. I don't even think anyone should consider that bragging, because it's so insignificant.

I don't know why BHVR refuses to remove depips and just make them safety pips. They changed killers getting "entity displeased" to "entity hungers" because seeing "displeased" caused killers to feel worse after a match. Same should be done for depips - getting a negative pip after an already frustrating match or because of variables outside your control causes unnecessary frustration. Just make it 0, +1, and +2. Only exception for a negative pip should be for the player that DCs.

This.
I can't remember the last time I paid attention to whether or not I pipped. I'm really surprised how often this comes up as a discussion topic here because I never would have guessed this many people cared.

The only time I remember caring about pipping or not, was back in 2018 when I didnt have the Rank 1 Achievements yet, after that I couldnt care less

I'm a newer player and I want to get those bloodpoints every month. But extrinsic rewards aside, I also get annoyed that the game is treating me like a subpar player when this is a game where sometimes you just don't get the chance to be a good player at all. It's an extra insult on top of what was probably a very frustrating match, and other players insult each other enough already.
Yes, there are issues that are more important, but this is an extremely easy fix. Just take the thing that's pointless and no one likes, and remove it. Nothing of value is lost, and cost is minimal.

I wholeheartedly agree. Especially since sometimes you depip over factors that you have no control over like a sweaty Killer that tunnels you out at 5 gens, a toxic Killer that facecamps you/chases you all game so you don't have the chance to do anything or just having useless teammates who leave to die on hook. They can still have it where you have to earn a certain amount of pips to grade up, but I absolutely hate getting punished for things out of my control. I would rather just have a safety pip if I have a bad game because grading up as Survivor can be pretty painful

If grades are basically just a measure of playtime for the month, then yeah, depipping makes no sense and should not be a thing. Grades should just be a way of saying "hey, here's a cool reward incentive for playing a lot during the month" and that's it. Seems like a very easy change too.
