Alternate Game Mode - 3vs3 is better than 2vs8

New Game Mode: 3 vs 3 King of the Hill in the form of 2 survivor+1 killer on each team fighting for control of gens.

Background:

People suggest 2vs8 (2x killers vs 8x survivors) FAR TOO MUCH! I think this is a bad idea, and plenty of others have great points on why. Easiest one is, "people don't like playing against knight generally, so more of that is bad.

However, I think there is an obvious missed opportunity. Many games capitalize on various party sizes sometimes with various game modes. For example, my friends and I really enjoyed Overwatch but hated the main game. However, we LOVED 3vs3 elimination. Then they made it occasional.

Concept:

My idea for an alternate game mode is a 3vs3 king of the Hill style game mode.

Red Team (2survivors+1killer) vs Blue Team(2survivors+1kill)

All gens start neutral/incomplete and when your team completes a gen, your team gains points over time. Match can have set time limit (5min or 10min, something short). Team with the most points at the end wins.

Main thing I think would need adjusting is that the killer needs to be able to unhook there teammate survivors. This prevents all survivors being hooked and nothing happening until time runs out.

Other than that, everything should be straight forward (ish.... because coding/programming). Buffs from perks only effect teammates, debuffs only effect enemies.

Conclusion:

I feel this would be a good alternative that can bring more casual fun into the growing sweat that is the standard game mode. This game mode also helps eliminate the "us vs them" mentality as survivors and killers would work together to defeat the enemy team.

I am certain there are things I have overlooked and reasons this may be difficult. However, I feel it would be a very fun experience.

Ok, I am usually hard against any new modes, because it would completely screw queue times, but this sounds fun.

It will never be implemented, because it would screw queue times.

But I would try it for sure, because this sounds really fun...

Your issue is simple, current ratio is 4:1 and there is already not enough killers.

For this, you would need 2:1. But I feel like it would get worse with more survivors.

Basically without chance, sadly. Sounds fun.

I would want them to implement steam workshop, so we can create this for custom lobby at least.

    Thanks for the feedback!

I do agree that player/role ratio could potentially pose an issue for this style of game mode. However, there are two reasons I don't think the potential ratio issues will as bad as speculated.

1st - I think many devoted mains may try other roles. For example, I am the only one in my friend group who regularly plays killer. Others will only play killer role in Kill Your Friend customs. However, I know my group would all be down to play killer as long as we were queuing and playing together.

2nd - I think the queue should match 3 players against 3 players. Then once the lobby has formed, one player is assigned killer on each team, then players can roles swap between each other. That way, if some gets killer and wants survivor they can switch. This eliminates roles from the matchmaking process and leaves it to the match (or premade) team to figure out.

Unfortunately, I also agree with you that it will likely never happen.

New game would be a + but yeah the queue times.

Also like few problems (that would be probably easily fixed) that I can think of the top of my head:

    • What happens when opposing survivors meet on a generator?
    • I assume everyone would have infinite hook states? I wonder if people would heal.
    • Also camping+tunneling could be really good, even better than in normal game mode.

    Great potential issues:

I had some solutions in mind for these despite my lack of realizing they were issues.

1st point - generators are first come first serve, so whoever gets there first. (This could be interesting as a team's survivor(s) could request their killer to come pressure the other team off or go find a different generator.)

2nd point - I was definitely thinking infinite hook states. This allows constant gameplay from all players.

3rd point - Tunneling would be less of a problem due to infinite hook states. Additionally, by camping, the killer is forfeiting all potential pressure to get the other team off generators. Additionally, since I feel killers should be able to unhook their teammates, face camping can't deny an unhook. Since a killer could unhook in their face.

The only "new interaction" in my opinion should be killers unhooking their team. I definitely don't think killers should be able to "injure/damage" each other. Those aspects would make this concept far too messy.

    For more information:

I don't think killers should be able to interact at all, other than seeing one another. If possible, I think killers should never have collision with one another. If killers could body block each other, that seems to have a potential chance of exploitability. If its not doable, simply let them have collision and leave it as a reportable offense.

    Thank you for the feedback!

Survivor mains would never accept to team up with Killers, they have immense hatred for them. If they make this gamemode I'll just join to bodyblock them and slug the other team.
