Should Boil Over Be Reworked?
My vote is yes.
The perk only affects a specific subset of players (those on Console) and it affects them to the point where it is still impossible to hook people if they have it on certain maps.
It's pretty much the only perk that I am genuinely upset at seeing in my matches.
Thoughts?

Idk probably. It's not really op or anything but it's just really annoying. A perk being annoying isn't really a good enough reason on it's own for it to be changed, but that's like pretty much it's only purpose, which is dumb. Maybe it could stun the killer for longer when you escape their grasp to fit the theme, then you run it w ds ig lol

I will literally take anything other than, "You can't move, you will never get out of this hallway and you cannot hook me."
5 -
Any change to this perk is better than being sent to Springwood, and the survivor purposely going down in the school boiler room without basement hooks, and being unable to hook them anywhere because it feels impossible to leave the school boiler room because of Boil Over.
Even on PC, it is difficult to control. But I also remember how much worse it was to carry a survivor with Boil Over on controller when I used to play on the Xbox SX.

Boil Over is also an annoying perk for Pc gamers. I wouldnt miss it.
2 -
Why? I am seeing a lot Boil Over lately but they are doing almost nothing. I am still hooking them.

I agree. Boil Over users are highly likely to bleed out for four minutes in my matches. It's not a fun perk. There are no requirements, no activations, no limits. It's always on. The only counter to it a killer has is slugging.
(I also wish BHVR would fix wiggling. The updated version feels awful on console, but when a PC killer carries me they don't seem affected by my wiggling at all.)

Yes. At one point I put forward the idea that it should turn into more of an anti tunneling perk. But it didn't gain much traction.
1 -
Because it is (depending on RNG) almost uncounterable on Console. I've been told it's also annoying on PC.
It is noticeably bad.
5 -
It's pretty much been nothing but problematic since it's rework. They can buff it and make it impossible to play against or nerf it and make it 100% useless.
EDIT: Not a bhvr rework either a real one.

definitely been a rise in boil over players. I'm also seeing more spine chills as well

I don't know how is this perk on console, so i will take your words on that. On PC, it is annoying perk but doing almost nothing. But if it is that bad on consoles, then this perk should not exist.

My vote goes to yes.
Not only reworked but completely redesigned.
Completely change the affect. Messing with the ability for the killer to hook you without others survivors input is always going to either be useless or overbearing

The blocked aura and 30% bonus wiggle when dropping down affects everyone, console or not.
I'm not against reworking the 80% bonus to the killer's movements because to be frank, I've almost never seen that part be useful and it's the one that affects console players the most.
Any rework should still have the aura and falling down mechanic though. Those are original and cool.

On console it can really make players unhookable, even when they go down in unremarkable areas. If you have to pass a doorway or even a bit of scenery it can really hamper you getting to a hook. I'm pretty used to dealing with it on console but even so if I see that red horsey you will probably end up slugged more than I'd like to do so.
I like using a controller, I'm more comfortable with it. But there are definitely things that are harder to do such as dealing with this, also turning to avoid beamers at pallets etc and hiding your red stain at loops.
2 -
Yes and it always should have. It literally only works when you get both downed and picked up and the effect only works if either you get downed ina high up area or in and enclosed space where the wiggle effect actually works
It’s gimmicky unfun and does nothing to make gameplay more fun. It encourages slugging to bleed out as well

It's not a rework if you just drop one part of the perk and keep the rest. I know dbd standards for reworks are slightly change a perk at it's core but that's not a real rework.

Well, then I don't want a rework I guess.

Why is it a problem on console?
0 -
If we really cared about console, then we would be asking BHVR to prevent survivors from going over the intended turn rate, because console killers are affected by that way more often than with boil over.
1 -
More accurately, it is a problem on controller:
Imagine you are walking toward a doorway. Boil over makes you go right, you try to push in the opposite direction, by the time it responds so that you go left it will take you all the way left across the door so fast that you can't push forward and get through the door. This repeats until you drop the survivor.
Why does this not affect keyboard and mouse players? I have no idea but I have never known anyone using them ever think (current) boil over is anything but a minor inconvenience.
4 -
Due to how the controller functions and the lack of even basic settings, Boil Over is impossible to control on controller.

The interaction with the aim-dressing definitely needs to be addressed, and effects all platforms. If you're referring to being spun, there's several ways to deal with that already.
None of this has anything to do with the op.

It's just I come from other games where a rework is a massive overhaul of something. Legion and ghostface being considered reworks when they were really just an add-on pass with slight base kit buffs is very very weird to me.

Please remove the extra swaying. Keep the rest. I'll even take that buff suggestion that it increases the stun on the killer if you escape their grasp. Then people could stack it with Decisive Strike and have their anti-tunnel set-up again. Doesn't matter to me, just get rid of that awful swaying back and forth, it's infuriating.

Regardless of how effective it is it's obnoxious and should be reworked.
Personally, I don't run into Boil over too much. Hardly ever run into people abusing it. Even if I so I don't usually miss a hook because of it. The o ly thing it achieves without fail is ticking me off.
1 -
no offense man but you pick out a specific scenario for Boil Over and bashed it... Boil Over is not that effective overall, but you know how good it is on inside maps. That doesn't mean it's instantly ruled as broken.
0 -
Are you on Console?
1 -
I don't see why that matters, but I play on xbox.
0 -
yes
it promotes slugging, punishes the killer for trying to hook, and is way too easy to abuse. unfun and unfair perk
0 -
Hell, something that affects carrying is generally but design anyway.
0 -
Boil Over's ability to mess with the killer's control is significantly weaker for PC keyboard players than controller players. PC killers barely notice it exists when used against them.
4 -
Bring back Boil Over's strength and make it an exhaustion perk. (Increased wiggle effects while carried; escaping the killer's grasp causes exhaustion.)
Powerful, but not stupid powerful where running back to the same corner or second floor works back-to-back.
Making it an exhaustion perk means it can't be stacked with other exhaustion perks and gives the exhausted debuff more value.

I noticed that I have to move my camera to go against the wriggling, but sometimes I see killers eyes locked on the hooks and is simply (from what I can tell) pressing the key opposite of the wriggling...

Fully agree. Boil over can be oretty unbearable on console (especially when a survivor intentionally gets downed in a dead zone so you won't be able to hook them even if they didn't have boil over)
