Why capped at 120 fps and no fov slider
I dont understand why it is still a thing in dbd that we are capped on 120 fps and dont have any option to change the fov its just outdated. And to get 120fps we also have to set it ourselves via the ini files. I think the normal cap is at 60... .
It feels like playing a game from 2008 or something.

Because in a moment when you add more FOV to the killer or even to the survivor... then it completely change whole game. This game is actually balanced very good about actual FOV, where perks like Shadowborn or Monitor and Abuse are significant for killers what took them. With these perks you can see how much it would be unbalanced for the game when you would have FOV sliders. Its not about outdated things. Its about that it would not fit into the game.

It shouldnt be a balance decision to add a fov slider as long as both Killer and survivors geting it. If you play any game with a higher fov and getting back to dbd after it i feel almost ill and nauseous because it's zoomed in so bad.

The problem with that solution is that game is balanced around it. It give survivors to dodge some attacks by movement skills, for killers it means that they are "forced" to use their observing abilities to find something. It is certain kind of difficulty. This game, as much as I many times hate for a lot of reasons is actually well made around that specific FOV and these perks I mentioned are perfect example why. I know it sounds like an excuse, but there, specifically there, the devs did really good job. Every single change to FOV is drastically chaning whole game. Put few angles there and few angles there and you will see how some things will be totally denied. Same like it was with point of view for killers from 3rd person. Same for stretched FOV for survivors. All these changes were massive advantage. You just have to work around it. Once its implemented and thats it. It is supported by many things for exact functionality. By adding FOV you would just add tons and tons of things into the state of uselessness.

Thats just wrong in my opinion. The amount of cases where a survivor was able to dodge a attack from me while I'm in front of him is so low that i cant even remember when it happend last. And other then that i dont see any advantage from the bigger fov. So all my games i played would be exact the same but without the nauseous feeling that i feel from time to time.

Survivors get a QoL feature that changes game balance: This was needed! And the balance change is minimal!
Survivors on an FoV change: This would change the balance of the game! We can't have that!

The only people who think it is a big deal to have bigger fov are survivors who play killer ones a month...

Is 120fps not enough? I used to play on a PS4 Pro. so having 60fps is a dream come true. I can't even comprehend 120fps!

It's a big deal in higher MMR. You know - place where the most prominent counterplay to blight is dodging him at the corner, because he doesn't see you and won't expect your spin at it (which would work exactly never with higher FoV). And this is just one example for many.
If you need higher FoV, pay it up with perk slot. A lot of blights and onis already do that (other killers too, but less) - because it's worth it.

the game is balanced around this set FOV.
As a Ghosface main, as much as I would LOVE 99ing survs everywhere with a 120 FOV, I’m well aware how broken it would be. Not to mention Tombstone Meyers.
i say that without even considering other issues that may arise
