DC penalty immunity when someone else DCs!

As long as you are not part of the survivor group of the person who DCed, you should be exempt from any penalty if you choose to do so. This should also extend to players that triple kobi to suicide on hook. That being said DC penalties should start at 5 minutes, not 1. Also DCing in such way should grant you the Bloodpoints, Fragments, and Archive progress you earned during the match.

I disagree with almost every part of this

    1. DCing also significantly impacts the killer (arguably moreso than survivor).

    2. Penalties should always exist regardless of the circumstances

    3. Trippling kobi-ing shouldn't be penalized

    4. I agree DC penalities should be longer (start at 5 minutes)

    5. If you DC you should not be rewarded at all. If you DC you ruined the game for several other people. Just play the game

The majority of killers, including me, don't find 3v1 fun, it's a guaranteed win, a waste of time that has the danger of turning into a stealth fest. Why should the Killer along with the other 3 survivors be punished for the actions of one person?

And to touch on the triple kobi, it is only used in suicide attempts or when the game is already over, so I don't see what the problem is there.

3v1 isn't as fun as 4v1, but having an entire lobby disband immediately and having to queue up again is even less fun.

I think this is fine. I know in Overwatch for example if you're playing competitive and someone leaves the match then you can leave after I think 2 minutes or so and not receive the penalty. Even still I'd rather the match just scale rather than end early. If someone d/cs then the match would play out as if it were balanced around 3v1. Faster gen repair, faster healing, maybe take 3 hits to down instead of 2. Things like that.

The current dc penalties are fine the way they are.

That is why the higher penalty is there, to prevent those situations, since the second penalty gets to 15min and then 30min for the third, which will lower DCs significantly. If you really want to go the extra step, they could add a priority queue, but I don't know if that's such a good idea from the get-go. Alternatively, there could be a DC-exclusive Queue, where you are forced to play a game with other DCers, before being able to play with everyone else again. Other games have a surrender vote. There are a lot of ideas we can come up with.

The main point is rage quitting is unfair and something needs to be done about it.

Agreed! The majority of players have been asking for this for years.

DC penalties should only apply to the first person that DC’s.

If anyone else DC’s, penalties should only apply if they were part of the SWF.

Otherwise everyone should have the opportunity to leave the match unpenalized because game is over anyway at that point.

    I disagree.

You can't force someone to endure an unfun match.

They will AFK, they will run to the killer to get hook... heck they will even lead the killer to other survivors if they have to.

Let people dc, its also karma for toxic behaviors and bad maps.

DBD player mentality is so laughable! No other multiplayer pvp game community advocates for such terrible bhvr.

OH NO I got froze on top lane and can't play without help from multiple players, guess Ill just dc or afk. OH, wait. If you do either of those even semi-often you get banned from the game quickly.

Such a conceded selfish player base.

    disagree

3v1 is a total waste of time, any time spent on that match is just time spent preventing me from getting into queue for match that isn't a waste of time

League of Legends has surrender votes, which is basically the same thing

Yes but a league match typically lasts much longer than a dbd match. Around 30 minutes long.

20 minutes is a long match for DBD, with typical matches being more in the 10-15 minute range.

So allowing players to concede 5-8 minutes in would be comparable

yeah, and in league, if someone DCs or AFKs for 90 seconds of teh first 3 minutes, the other members get the ability to vote to remake the lobby.

After the 3:30 second mark, early surrenders become available if you have a DC.

The 15-minute surrender is for a match where no one else has disconnected or is AFK.

    Don't misinterpret what I said.

I do not advocate for it, I merely point out your unrealistic expectations.

It's an annoyance to be sure, just not the issue you make it out to be.

I do believe that the way score is calculated for killer makes little sense, why should killers be penalized on their score screen if survivors are sore losers and dc?

You can still fight to a good score as survivor in a 3v1 scenario even if you don't survive in the end. In doing so you get good BPs and maybe a pip but as killer when there is a dc you can barely "not lose a pip" as survivors beg to be hooked.

    Its silly.

Eh I'd rather have a less than ideal match than have a string of games where people bail left and right. I think this would make DCing much more obnoxious

It is beyond rare for someone to leave before 3:30. I have played league for over a decade, it's something that happens intentionally 1 in 1000 games MAYBE. This comparison doesn't make sense. I compare dbd to league because league actually punishes people for their terrible behavior regardless of what it is. League is still known as the most toxic and petty player base but that hasn't been the case in a long, long time now. You can't curse much, you can't leave more than 2 games before being suspended for weeks, you can't afk and if your score/level/damage/whatever is an indicator of trolling over multiple games then you get a suspension as well. DBD by comparison endorses this behavior, with hook suicides and the small inconvenience of a dc penalty.

Even the most well known people on these forums still come up with some excuse as to the fact that people will always find a way to not play. No, it's simply the devs choice to allow this. If a survivor has 3k points with less than X chase time at the end of the game, then they were trolling the game. If you didn't do a conspicuous action for X amount of time with less than X chase time then you were trolling. If there needs to be some sort of forgiveness for the first 25 hours, that's fine but after that these players need to be playing to a degree. People think it will help kill the game, on the contrary it will help heal the game. There is a large snowball effect of tilt because survivors will just give up early and ruin it for everyone else. Guess what? Players going through that will eventually give in and abuse the same systems because they know the penalty is all but non-existent.

Kill rates being balanced around 60-65% makes sense when so much of the survivor player base isn't just outright bad(they are[really the entire player base]) but also not trying to win.

I guess the thing is, ‘why’ do people disconnect in the first place? I would suggest in most cases, it will be that same old case of slugging, camp and/or tunnel. Admittedly, this isn’t alway the case, but I’d say most.

I 100% try not to play like that, and I’m not bothered if some/all survivors escape (just a game), but I very rarely get a disconnect playing this way. I think the Doctor produces more disconnects than others (just because it’s so annoying to play against?).

As a survivor, if it’s an obvious tunnel session against me, a rage quit is a perfectly exhilarating option and the ban, whatever the length is; worth it.

Obviously l appreciate the strain it puts on other survivors. Maybe share the gained points from the disconnector to the remaining survivors?
