There are way too many safe pallets

For real,

its was kinda manageable before, but now, with gen regression and stalling effectively dead, I just can't keep up. In every loop there is a safe pallete, most of them greedable, and you have to eat them all in order to get to the survivors. Sure, you can pick your fights, but that means that leave a loop with a safe pallet that wont be dropped.

I feel that with the hard nerf on regression and stalling, the number of safe pallets should be somewhat reduced. No hard and fast numbers here, but with the current state of the game its impossible to work through the survivors ammuniton, ie their pallets, and create dead zones for the fabled endgame. A killer must have the option to get downs out of good chases, but unless I am playing Pyramid Head, who can ignore most of the pallets when played right, there is no way around them and its really frustrating.

Does every loop need a pallet that can be thrown? Do there need to be 3 in view at all times? Heck, most of the time there are enough pallets that someone could run all around the map and predrop just every single one and it feels like it will still be enough to evade the killer most of the time.

I will probably get shot down for this, again, but the pallets are really grating my gears these days. I could manage the gen speeds, if not 2/3 of the chases end with a pallet smacked to my face and "ggez lol".

It would help if you could at least mindgame the dropped pallets, but most of them are safe killer deadzones until they are broken.

I agree with you. I feel like pallets should be reduced but like 15 - 20 percent and need to be highly randomized. Make it so you gotta guess where the best loop is. I also truly think shack should have a small area around it where pallets don’t spawn. Having shack with pallets on either side makes shack a perfect god sized loop.

I agree. Most pallets are too safe. That would be fine, if the game wasn't as fast paced as it is because you can break through safe pallets and eventually that should hurt the survivors. But in reality very few killers can actually get pallets out of the way so fast that this stops being an issue.

The game is faster than ever, which is not exactly surprising because survivors are now more inclined than ever to focus on gens above all else but with the nerfs to regression perks we start to see actual problem that this game has. The math doesn't add up here. Even, if a killer got one hook every 45 seconds (which is way faster than most killers are able to) and tried to go for 10 hooks, that would take 450 seconds (7:30 minutes). But because the gens can easily be finished in 300 seconds (5 minutes) with only 2 survivors on gens and 15 seconds to run between gens, no grouping up on the last gen as well as no speed modifiers like perks, toolboxes or even skill checks this is not achievable in a match against focused survivors.

Windows of Opportunity got catapulted from an A-tier perk to a S-tier perk because even the most inexperienced survivors can pre drop / pallet camp and buy enough time to put most killers behind schedule.

Garden of Joy is a lost cause.

I memorize just about every single pallet location in the game. random rng pallet spawns is unfun for survivor. if you make pallets rng, then your forcing me to use window of opportunity to remove rng pallet spawns. its not survivor fault that the pallet loops are not balanced for killer to hits. for my personal skill-level as survivor, The killer has to break about half the map in term of pallets before they down me but then again, very experienced killer are unlikely to commit to me because chasing strong link over weak link is not smart play In my opinion.

Omg I faced a Blight who did this. He didn’t chase or do anything all match. He even like refused to face or acknowledge us when we went near him. Then when all gens were finished he just opened the gate and faced the wall. It was super weird. Was it you?

I honestly can't decide if you are trolling or serious, and this kinda scares me.

Non the less, i think that pellet RNG would be healthy for the game, the early game shouldn't just be a mechanical run from all known pallet drops to the next, seasoned with some unreasonable greeding in between until the killer can get finally a hit.

Killers sometimes do this when they can't get a leg on the ground. When they lose three gens and only have one hook to show, and only 2 pallets on garden of joy are down, they might decide to call it a game and do as you said. Killers can't suicide, so they have to sit through the entire game, if they don't want to eat a DC penalty, as there is no dying on the hook for them. Some meanspirited survivors who get wind of this mind stall the last gen purposefully, either to spite, or to try to get the killer to move via countless vaults or scavenging for item boxes.

For me Red Forest is the crazy level with the many pallets.

Red Forest is also one of the biggest maps. Any extra pallet that you have to work through here is hurting the killer doubly, because of how big and vast the whole map is.

Now we complaining about pallets lol, and the only map that has plenty of them is the game, every other map only have about 6 of them at best and its actually the opposite on many maps there so many unsafe pallets is crazy, rpd being one of them/auto haven. Jesus killers what do you want survivors to have?

While I respect your oppinion, I would love to see this map that as 6 pallets at best, so that I can burn map offerings for that one.

Just for reference: The Game and Shattered Square have 25 pallets, Midwich, the statistically most killer sided map, has 24. Thats at least 4 times the numbers you are throwing around ^^ A map thats rather bad for killers, Fractured Cowshed, has much less, but still 13-16 pallet spawns.

Lunge was disabled for the last 6 years, due to DH. If you want to take it away as a payment for less pallets, I couldn't care less, because I played basically without lunge since forever.

dead serious. I generally greed pallet just enough that the killer wastes most amount of time possible while not giving the killer a free hit on loops. I have to make mistake to get hit by killer in most cases. Your post seem to just be complaining that your getting outplayed by people above your skill-level. MMR is not strict enough for you face 4 really strong survivors at looping. you only face 1 or 2 survivors at most. Its only if they remove MMR buffer do you face 3-4 strong survivors.

you think maps have at most 6 pallets? what have you been playing?

Auto haven maps tend to have very lil pallets and those yokoham w.e those maps are pronounced anyways overall the main point is survivors just cant have nice things, we lost our med kits, our good perks , our flash lights and now pallets are being complained about.

"Now"? pallet amount has been complained 24/7, this is a long standing map design problem we have.

There is countless atrocious maps, and they bring more and more of it.

Thats because DBD is a rather complex game and you can't just change one parameter in isolation, as its connected to a lot of other stuff. Stalling gens, and thus the game, into oblivion was a problem, so BHVR probably overnerfed gen regression to the point, were its nearly dead and only PainRes and maybe Jolt are keeping it on life support. Before. pallets were a nusiance, but part of the game and you could methodically get rid of them. In todays meta, where survivors slam gens like never before, while the killer have little to no defense against that, every singel pallets worth skyrocketed and its now extremely oppressive.

Don't make this an "us vs them" strawman argument again, both sides are losing and gaining something all the time, while BHVR tweaks their system. Of course, the problem with balancing something too much is, that eventually it will become bland, because there is nothing adding spice or zest to the mix.
