Why do so many survivors bring indoor map offerings?

I see so many RPD, The Game, and Lerey offerings from my teammates and when I play killer. Hell, I even see more Midwich than maps like Azarovs or Macmillan.

I get these maps can be strong but am I the only one that absolutely despises playing on indoor maps as both survivor and killer?

I like RPD. It Lets me wiretap a gen and see the killer in the other floor.🙂

RPD gets offered up a lot because of that one achievement. No idea why people would willingly try to do that for a meaningless icon and a small increase to a worthless number but there it is.

    Potentially challenges

I know that when I do an escape challenge I’ll run a jigsaw piece because it’s the easiest map for me to win on

Because indoor maps tend to be more stronger than more open, outdoor ones.

Lery's has a ton of windows which can suck for some killers. Some killers do thrive in this map though.

The Game (AKA Pig's Pallet Plant) has a boatload of pallets and strong loops that connect to each other, making it difficult to catch/injure survivors.

RPD is good for boons and/or area effect perks and gen locations there are pretty safe. Some killers also have trouble with their powers on this map and some find it hard to navigate/travel through.

I'd say Midwich is the only balanced indoor map, save for certain hook RNG placements.

Doesn’t RPD always spawn with a 3-Gen? And no one really uses boon perks anymore. I’m not sure about tiles connecting well in Gideon. It has a lot of good pallets & they make some tiles individually safe but the tiles don’t really connect. Midwich isn’t balanced, it has the highest kill rate, long corridors with easy line of sight, two safe pallets (everything else is unsafe) and exit gates within LOS of each other.

Didn't you just describe every PvP video game (especially ones that show their ranking) that ever existed?

When a survivor /killer bring midwitch I restart my game, I hate that map with a passion. The other 3 well they are decent for survivors save for if you get a scratch myers then all hell break loose.

Nor exactly. See if you're playing a game that shows your skill based rank that's you saying "yeah I'M that good and you better be prepared for someone of my caliber". That's an accomplishment.

In the case of something like DbDs visual ranks its more of a "I'm this experienced" doesn't prove you're good. Doesn't mean you're bad. Not so much of an accomplishment but it shows you are experienced.

Now in game achievements on the other hand? For every LASO there's a press start at the main menu "achievement". For every finish with a perfect score there's a die once "achievement" and more specifically where DbD is concerned for every master X killer/survivors adept achievement there's a ruin the game for the other players achievement.

We're it that straightforward I'd agree with you. But the problem lies when those achievements are simply not fun to achieve. Going for the RPD achievement encourages sending yourself and 4 others to a highly unpopular map (that the achievement hunter very likely also dislikes thus ruining the match for themselves also) then potentially screwing over your entire team for a miniscule amount of happiness.

I like the concept of achievements when they are actual achievements. When it's just grind menial task and feel frustrated while doing so those achievements should be changed or removed.

I just like indoor maps more thematically.

I know. I'm one of them (or was until they reworked it) but that doesn't automatically mean that the map is suddenly popular does it?

Sometimes I feel like I'm one of the very few who actually enjoy this game.

So many complaints about basic elements of the game makes me wonder why most people even bother playing a game they detest so much.

I have my least favourite maps, I would never refuse to play on any of them.

Eh, I’ve played since there were only two indoor maps in the game (Lereys and The Game) and that was when The Game was an awful map and you couldn’t see two feet in front of you in the bottom floor, so I still have PTSD every time I play it.

I literally enjoy every other map in the game besides the indoor maps, it’s literally like 90+% of the maps. Should someone quit a game that they enjoy 90% of the time? People are allowed to have criticisms against the things they enjoy, it doesn’t mean they inherently dislike the thing.

'Cheevos and challenges are the things I still play this game for... The RPD one can actually be done (unlike the killer Adepts).

Blasphemous behavior imo. When playing as a surv I absolutely despise all of the indoor maps. Other than when the graphical update to Lery's first came out, I have never used a map offering for any indoor map.

Can't find gens, can't find totems, can't find allies, can't find my own plump arse. Hate them all.

Now visually they all are quite excellent! 👌👍

It's still a worthless number that has no effect on your life outside of the videogame. I'm not saying this to disparage anybody but to rather bring it into perspective. Having a PvP rating is an acheivement on the same level as getting all the acheivements in DbD. It doesn't make either better than the other and neither do anything for the person accomplishing it than a sense of personal satisfaction. The exact same reason why some people chase acheivements is the same reason why people chase PvP rankings and neither should look down on the other; unless you're a content creator or your job is esports having an MMR ranking (visible or not) or having all acheivements in a game does nothing for you except for any personal satisfaction that you derive and, quite frankly, it's something that nobody outside of the video game cares about (and many in the video game don't care about).

If you're going to call getting acheivements in a game worthless then, by the same criteria, any rating in a PvP game is worthless. It only shows how that individual likes to be entertained and nothing else.

TL;DR: A PvP acheivement in a video game is not more real or worth more than doing acheivements on Steam as an example. Don't be an elitist and act like your version of entertainment is somehow better than another person's form of entertainment.

Agreed its a user issue but if devs would stop including these types of achievement and instead include achievements that reward and promote teamwork and interesting mechanics instead of pointless grinding there would be no issue.

I don't see how thinking a number that shows you're the best in the world at a game is more valuable than a number that shows you bought a game that gives you a number for pressing a single button many times in specific circumstances is in any way elitist but this is completely off topic at this point anyway so I'm going to discontinue this.

If you want to debate it though I'm happy to continue in a separate topic.

That would depend if you can explain to me, outside of being a content creator (which is both PvP and PvE) or winning a competition with a cash prize, how either number brings any value to your life other than personal satisfaction and entertainment. On their own, absent of the above, neither number brings anything and it's elitist to look down on somebody else's entertainment.
