Hide everyone until the match starts, problem solved. No bringing perks to counter items like how you can't bring perks to counter specific killers unless you dislike it so much that you run it naturally. No swapping to a tryhard build because you think someone with a prestige 50 in the lobby means they're some kind of god, etc.

I agree, but I think lobby shopping is ultimately symptomatic of zero consistency in teammate quality. That default cosmetic P0 survivor is suspicious because it's well within the realm of possibility that the matchmaker put a 100 hr Meg in with my two 5k hr friends and I. If matchmaking wasn't always so all over the place, people wouldn't constantly nope out of lobbies that looked the slightest bit off. People lobby shop when matchmaking has a 50% chance of producing a 10 minute cutscene.

I hold what might be an unpopular opinion that lobby shopping is worse.
Early DC can ruin a match for 4 other players, but a lobby dodge ruins it for 5 others.
Although if the matchmaker didn't basically shut off to prioritize a back fill I might not feel that way.

No, you're supposed to position poorly and "take chase" so everyone can crouch in a corner while the killer chases you. Or you know, the killer will behave like a sentient player and just ignore the good player and go for the people running into walls.

Uh you realize you're probably getting those 6-8k survivors because the veteran killers who were originally matched with them have likely dodged? So less experienced killers end up as backfill. If lobby dodging is stopped then chances are you'll likely stop getting those survivors.

Makes you really wonder how many veteran killer players still actually play the game. Reverting the matchmaking logic back to the original strict version even for one week might reveal some unpleasant truths.

I think it's unreasonable to expect people to play a game for even as long as I've played DBD.
I've been a consistent Killer player for over 5 years now, that's a LOT of time.
I'd argue most players playing right now got here after 2020.

I would say this would need to come together with a punishment or other form of preventive measures against first hook suicides, which aren't much else than lobby shopping on the survivor side.
I would argue that the damage lobby shopping does is just as random as the matchmaking itself and might (to a high degree) ruin matches but an early DC or hook suicide is a 100% definitively ruined match every time.

Hide all information besides items and outfits until after the game at the very least. Especially easy two-click profile access, for every actually cool interaction like adding others after a good game that happens countless weirdomax incidents like people spotting someone on their "grudge list" or someone getting mad because they genuinely feel entitled to seeing the hours and friends lists of other players happen.

They should make two matchmaking options:
Quality or speed.
So people that actually want to play an exciting and even match are probably willing to wait more for it and the others can hop from one match to the other, but shouldn't complain about unfair matches.
But of course splitting the limited playerbasee of this asymmetrical game could have detrimental effects overall.

If veteran killer numbers have dropped off then veteran survivor numbers likely have too. Especially since lots of people play both roles. You only have to read past threads asking who lobby dodges to see a lot of players do, and their reasoning is usually always that they want easier games (ie solo players instead of swfs)

The biggest problem of all is showing the surv prestige before the game starts. Its so obvious to me, i play my p100 and 2-3 killers leave every time. I play low pretige chars and unless a random has high prestige usually not a single killer will leave. They hid the surv grade because of that and then implement this new prestige system which is 10 times worse. I really hope they adress this as soon as possible, i hate the fact that i spent like 100million BP on a surv just to not play them because killers see that BIG RED P100 WARNING SIGN over my head.

It takes more Survivors to quit for Killers to experience longer queue times constantly, so the ratio isn’t exactly 1:1
If enough people were dodging lobbies for it to be an issue, then perhaps devs should start asking why people lobby dodge? Is it as simple as wanting to have easier games only?
I do agree that I dodge for easier games, but I also dodge lobbies if at least one Survivor has a history of being banned, their name is made up of numbers and random alphabets or have legacy cosmetics with a few hours in the game because I suspect them to be cheaters. I could argue that removing lobby dodging would increase the likelihood of getting a cheater too.
I know some streamers who also dodge the lobby if they see another streamer/content creator because they want to avoid any potential drama from the match. They have a valid reason given how toxic some streamers/communities can be.
Until devs start asking or taking notice, I don’t see any reason to not lobby dodge or lobby for it to be removed.

To be honest, prestige means nothing. It's just a number and I've been matched with survivors who have high prestige that play like absolute dog water. Maining one survivor and getting their prestige to a high level does not equal skill. It's the same in many other games that have levels, and there are other factors to look out for to gauge skill, level is not one of them.

I find MMR to often be a convenient scapegoat... Half of the people who complain about it and lobby shop at higher mmrs don't seem to actually understand how it works.
MMR's purpose is to make sure you win and lose roughly half the time. If you're facing survivors that outskill you, SWF or otherwise, the solution is not to shop for easier targets or to switch to ruthless strats you don't particularly enjoy. That only increases your mmr even more and cements your place in that mmr bracket with stronger opponents than you can naturally handle.
It's almost like to these people pride and bragging rights of being high mmr are more important than having fun games, since if things go wrong, they can always blame the system.

I get "good players" every three or so matches but I only get a good match once in a blue moon.

The funny thing is that's exactly what happened. Tried taking chase but when the killer realized that I wasn't falling for their mid mindgames (moonwalking even though I could see above the object I was looping) they just left. They stayed on me for at least a minute but teammates were too busy resetting since they were all injured and avoiding gens for some reason. I was even the first person to get on a gen after looping the killer when they had SO much time. Absolutely zero excuse will suffice as to why I get teammates like that. It's like football/soccer. why would you, as a striker, want to go against the best defender on the opposition's team when there are three terrible ones also there?

I find this to be accurate. When i'm playing against someone with a hidden name or a row of stars (****), it tends to end up being a miserable experience. I will leave a lobby with those names. Not always if it's a hidden name, but if it's the second..i'm out.

In one of the previous surveys they asked the community which they prefer, quality matchmaking or faster queue times. The overwhelming response was faster times, so that's what we got.
Their system gets one shot at a fair-ish match, that's it. Whenever anyone leaves backfilling occurs, with MMR getting set aside in favor of queue times as players wait. The longer the wait (often because of multiple dodges) the looser it gets, until it grabs the next available player regardless of MMR.
This is the source of all of the complaints about a rookie killer getting blown up by a veteran team, and likewise when newbie survs all get slaughtered by a veteran killer. The new player experience is rough enough without dodging actively making things worse.
All the lobby shopping is destroying their matchmaking, and we are doing it to ourselves because we know it will wreak it and dodge anyway. The reason doesn't really matter, whether it's to avoid a cosmetic or a streamer or magically divining it's a SWF or for easier trials. Because it's known it is on us.

I never care about my lobby as a survivor.
However with backfilling and MMR what it is, if I load into a lobby as a killer and all four survivors are all readied up before I'm there, I'm out.
So either lobby dodging has to be made completely impossible (I guess if someone leaves, the whole lobby is nullified and everyone goes back into the queue) or I'm exercising my right to dip out of an obvious mismatch.

Quite honestly, I think players have the right to decide whether or not they want to participate in any given match before it's started. If something in that lobby gives someone the feeling that their gameplay experience will be negative, I think it's perfectly acceptable to give them the option to act on those feelings.
And I'd much rather a teammate left before the match than during it. It wastes a lot less time for everyone involved.

this is the only correct take ive seen. as irritating as it is for this asshat:
to queue into the same four survs 7 times in a row and leave every time, much rather that happen than anyone leave as the match starts or after first down/gen.
and going off of what others are saying about PrIvaTe nAmES, some of us have our names off for reasons outside of cheating. i, for one, have had abuse on dbd just for my name, as well as trying to make content too, which obviously leads to lots of other problems.

All prestige really is it’s only how many times you been through the blood web with that survivor and you could of gotten those bps from doing anything in the game

Haven't played consistently but at this point the people I play with when I do all have P100 chars --- and my o my, after going "oh, our killer has left us again" or "why is the timer at 50 again? Did another one dodge?" many times they eventually change to lower prestige chars and either don't switch back at all, or last second (which frequently has the killer DC while loading into the match).

On -presumably- killer players justifying their lobby dodging based on the assumptions they make about the fairness of the match that would have happened if they hadn't dodged: always seems very hypocritical to me. Survivors don't get to go "mhhhm, I think I want to play against this P-whatever KILLER with purple/iri add-ons and XXXXk hours" either. You didn't sign up for MDR Cherry Blossom Spirit with Haunted, Devour and whatnot who brags about havin 2k+ hours on Spirit alone? - well, better suck it up cause it's happening if you want to or not.
So either everyone gets to get the same amount of info; access to prestige, profiles & type of items/add-ons. Or no one gets to have that.

I really wonder how on earth they thought it was a good idea to show the surv prestige, i cant fathom how no one at BHRV ever thought about the problem of showing it before the game starts. Nothing learned from the grades showing which they removed.
It's almost a year now and they still did not even mention that they see this as a problem. All the bigger content creators also agree that its just a BAD mechanic, but BHVR either dont get it or are just too ignorant to acknowledge it.
Can maybe a community manager here at least give us a little feedback IF they will EVER do ANYTHIGN about it or people just have to abandon their high prestige characters for the sake of getting "normal" matches? I have almost every single cosmetic for Yui, but never play her nowadays, its so demoralizing having all those auric cells, shards and Bloodpoints wasted due to a bad design choice that is forced on us.
