The game has went stale.
Before this starts, I'd like to say that I came to DBD in around 2018~2019, a time that I personally liked better for the game, due to the hatch escapes that many people didn't like, and that now basically makes keys useless besides for the blood amber addon. Something that many people didn't like, but I didn't personally mind was the old meta. I liked old BBQ and WGLF. I liked old DS and OoO, which led to fun (yet sometimes irritating aura seeing builds). I think those times in DBD were great.
Then came the "meta shakeup"
BBQ near lost it's purpose, as other aura reading perks were simply...better (and the + BBQ had for it was the BP bonus for doing your objective and not camping, assuming the survivors weren't all heroic). Old Hex: Ruin I think was a really good (VERY powerful if someone didn't know how to hit a skill check) hex that gives you a second objective, however this was changed multiple times into what it is known as today. WGLF got the BBQ treatment (and a rework), so you hardly see it anymore. DS got the stun time changed back (which was fine, as it was brought up in the first place to counter Enduring, which doesn't do anything to DS anymore, so).
I could just keep going on about these, but for now, I'll hit home;
DBD is not supposed to be a "fair" (I couldn't think of a term) game. It's an asymmetrical game, where the killer is supposed to be the opposing force, scary, however, to thwart the killer, the four survivors have to complete all five generators without all four all them dying. If all four survivors die, it would be considered a "game over" for them and a win for the killer, who would most likely go on to another round.
I think why I've been resorting to camping recently has been due to the lack of variety, as dozens of builds have been removed with perk changes, and some of those builds make the game fun to play. If you look at the streamer Monto, he got disappointed when he came back to the game for the *last* time because very little had changed besides the perk change up, which, in full, just decreases the fun of the game. If one side can have flashlights and go for heroic flashlight saves, then where is the killer's fun at? Running sloppy and pop, which got buffed after it got NO usage?
Honestly, this game just is a little stale. The older version was more fun, playing hide and seek in the corn as instabilly (rip), and is just not the same as it used to be. Sorry if this ending feels rushed, I was doing multiple things at the time and hope you understand.

Oh, I absolutely HATED the state of the game back then compared to how it is now. The meta perks were so good while all the other perks were so trash, it made variety almost nonexistent. DS, Unbreakable, Exhaustion Perk of Choice, and Adrenaline or Borrowed Time or something. The amount of times I've faced that combo was absolutely absurd, absolutely busted, and absolutely made me quit from 2021 to 2 weeks ago. Yet, I still had fun on both sides back then, and I still have fun now!
Games always end up stale subjectively in the end. That's why you haven't been playing just one game your entire life. If you're tired of this game, I hope you have fun elsewhere! Maybe a break will help you enjoy this game in the future too!

No, I did take a (long and needed) break...it didn't help, sadly. While I am arguing, and hope this doesn't offend you (in case you enjoy these chapter(s)) The chapters that came out were SM and Knight. Both were considered flops. I still purchased both of them, yet haven't played SM, and have only played one Knight match. I just feel like if there were more perk combos, the game would be more fun, yet very little perk(s) synergise with each other for a fun and compelling build to come back to.
Please tell me if you disagree with any of this, or have any more to add, and I will try to get back to you about this.

SM and Knight seem hated for good reasons. I don't have much to say about them haha
If there were more perk combos, yeah the game would be more fun! There are a lot of combos available at the moment though. Take all the injury perks for example, like resilience and made for this. You could craft a build around being injured, and you have TONS of choices regarding that. There's also all the scavenging perks, my personal favorites being Appraisal and Ace in the Hole. There are synergies available for most playstyles, but most perks don't have synergies with anything (Any Means Necessary) or have anti-synergies with similar perks (Autodidact).
I'm a bit biased here as my favorite synergies revolve around my obsession with No Mither and Fire Up. Just giving a bit of context :3
