As title states and how do you know?

You mean like the player? How do you know when the player is sad? I guess the killer may walk around with his head down and mumble under his breath. Otherwise, unless you're psychic, you're outta luck.

I've found that killers who hit their breaking point like that will just go into the corner and hide
Which I always then feel really bad about
I'm sorry killer!!!! If those other guys were being bullies, I'm not part of them. Come kill me!

when they post on the BHVR forums
never seen a killer player who was happy on these forums
(the same goes for survivor players though so take that as you will)

this...feels like a setup to a joke.
As survivor, I really wouldn't know how you could tell. Like there's the obvious of a killer giving up, but that's not a killer being "sad" per se.
I tend to get tilted more easily when I'm in a bad mood, but again, I'm not sure how you'd be able to tell.

If they stand on top of a hill and just stare at the sky. I've done that a few times.

If you notice +3 gens have been popped and not a single injure occurred. You can bet the killer gave up and is probably in a corner or waiting at the exit gates

When they said "sad" in end game chat.

Mostly, it's when they look at you in a loop and shake their head.

The Germans have a name for people who enjoy other people suffering.
Simply playing killer at high level makes me sad, solution has been not to play killer.
Since the developer update I'm off to play another game.
Best wishes all!

It's really easy to spot a killer/survivor that definitely has something on their mind. Not talking about the frustrated ones, that played few bad matches and just either decided to stand in the corner or just go absolutely berserk and play something as unfun as they faced.
The players that don't feel in the right place but also feel like they have to continue playing, do like a tiny slip ups. They're lacking focus. Like their gameplay might be still great, but they will have baby mistakes in obvious moments, when they shouldn't have happened.
But usually no one sees that in this community, people are too focused on jumping to each other's throat.
Remember guys to take a mental break from time to time, sometimes when you keep playing it's gonna get worse <3

Usually they walk around aimlessly and not even hit you. I try to get out of the game as quickly as possible, I know what it is like.

Sad or giving up?
When they wait at the exit gate for the last gen to pop.
Stand in a corner.
or
Roaming the map smacking everything they come across making eye contact with survivors as they continue their journey smacking structures.

I'm happy AF for the most part. I have a good time in my games. Now it's mostly because I've mostly worked myself into lower tier MMR where I can relax and have fun. If I play on PTB where MMR is turned off, it's a horrific sweat-fest. But everyday games, I'm vibing as the kids say.

sad? you mean very bad or just upset? my killers don't really get upset but sometimes they would just dc or camp a gate if all of us are performing well.

it's just a joke about how much negativity there is on the forums. i generally am pretty happy when playing the game too

They usually wear a pig mask to show their sadness, but fortunately this is easily identified by empathetic survivors, who will often boop those sad killers and make them feel better. This is clearly because of how overwhelmingly loving players are and how they want to help.
