Peoples opinion on Dead Dawg?

A very nice looking map which is generally considered killer sided I was wondering what most people thought of it consdiering many people seem to love it.

I'll state my opinion first then explain, bad map with lots of great ideas. The aesthetic is lovely and the map has many unique and interesting tiles. However when played optimially as the killer the map is miserable. The general strength and size of the map is weak and small however this is made up for by having a strong and accessible main building. The gen on the main building is hard to defend and chasing survivors there is rarely worth your time as it's very strong with only one generator.

Due to this combonation of traits, the best stratergy and only real viable stratergy as killer on this map is to ignore main building most the time in favour of defending the rest of the map. As survivor this leads to matches where the killer does chase main and gets steamrolled or doesn't and the match drags on for ages as they play super defensively and as killer you either have an easy match where survivors don't use the main building or a long and frustating match where you feel like you constantly have to drop chase on the survivors going to main otherwise you're throwing the match. Combined with the already small size of the map this leads to a miniscule play area with bellow average loops, very limited resources and oppresive gen spreads. Worth noting that I still believe the map is killer sided because as long as the killer is comptitent and understands the rule of this main building they shouldn't really be losing even against good survivors.

It's a shame because the loop design on the rest of the map is pretty good, featuring breakable walls which make the tile weaker when broken without being unplayable for either side when broken or left alone. The visuals are great and even small things like having standoffs at the gallows with who approaches who is amazing all ruined by a main building and small map which leads to chases going nowhere and slow defensive play. It's sad to see a map with this potential be wasted as it stand but I want to know other's opinion on the map so do you think it's as bad as I say or is it quite tolerable?

My only issue with it is the gen in the main building.

    Boring gameplay loop

Like what everyone does just hold w to saloon and then the killer usually leaves you rinse and repeat

Dead Dawg is the only map I purposefully send myself to with an offering as survivor

I reserve them for whenever I've gotten Midwich & Autohaven maps back to back and need to see a little sunlight and have a straightforward layout

I don't really care about the balance of it otherwise, I've had great games in both roles on it

I consider this map to be one of the more survivor sided maps. Because of the Saloon. If the survivors manage to keep that gen for the end, than nothing will stop them.

I dislike it because it has one of the best 3-gens in the game. Pray you don't get a Skull Merchant on Dead Dawg.

My personal least favorite out door map in the game (both sides)

Didn't like it on release like & never will at this point (do appreciate having different realms though & wouldn't mind a couple more maps from that realm.

On the survivor side I always try do the gallows first pop that & probably win, in my many thousand hours of experience survivors almost NEVER leave saloon until last.

But then I never see all these killers who give up a chase either MFT yet killers will still go at it no matter what & bloodlust through.

As a killer game starts & I expect to win, really only play trapper, doc, bubba, oni, myers, clown & the odd trickster unless I'm doing a daily or a tome ect so I don't play top tier killers & 3k the majority or rarely less than 2k.

    Jusr personal experience of course!

Neither survivor nor killer favored map.

Going main building is a stupid thing to do with most killers and crazy 3 gens in wasteland is frustrating to play as a survivor.

Personally I feel the map needs another tile in the more barren corner of the map but I don't care for the overall design of the map. I love the aesthetic and actual art and I'd argue visually it's one of the best maps in the game but I just hate how all the tiles are currently arranged on it.

I would love for at least one more map in that realm to exist though. Same thing with Lery's as well. I feel like every realm should have at least two maps for better variety and somewhat consistent RNG factors.

If they can have 5 variations of Badham Preschool they can do at least 1 other map on all the other realms.

One of my least favourite maps for either side. Just don't enjoy the way it plays

That highly depends on the killer/addons. But for example, RPD and Lerys for stealth killers like Myers, Pig, Wraith and with certain addons Demo. Autohaven for Blight and Wesker. Coldwind Farm for Billy. A map being good for one killer, doesn´t mean that its good for all killers.

It's the closest we have to a balanced map on both sides.

Though ultimately it comes down to how survivors prio the gens. Killer pretty much wins if survivors do salon gen first but survivors have a huge advantage if they keep it to last.

At the end it boils down to how (un)skilled the survivors are.

Depends on the survivors. If they do the saloon gen first, then sure.

Main building is far too strong and the rest of the map is far too weak.

Considering, that i made a list of maps i consider killer sided, just 6 posts above... I´d say you lost that bet.
