Killer meta is so boring atm

Sloppy, Corrupt, PR, Pop, Deadlock and BBQ


I am not saying these perks need nerfs. I am just saying we need more variety, maybe some good new perks or some good buffs for old perks. Survivors have more variefty atm while killers stucked in these perks.

    you think im against killers getting more options for perks/buffing older perks? Id love for it to happen, but, you and I both know the root cause for the usage of the perks you listed in the OP. Survivors do gens so quickly that running a bunch of gen perks is allmost mandatory which severely limits our ability to add variety.

    I can understand the others, but why is BBQ on that list?

    I do hope they add some more non-slowdown perks that are worth running but it’s hard to think of how they could make them.

    Corrupt is definitely boring, and I would wager most killers don't get any value out of it either. It's really not worth running unless you're a heavily set up based killed like Trapper or Hag.

    It's leagues better than what it was a few months ago with the gen kick meta and many more perks are viable compared to what you listed.

    they are doing some perk updates. they changed like 3-4 perks significantly on each side in following update. there are perks change but it is very slow. I do agree with killer perks being a lot more boring. survivor side is more interesting with MFT.

    almost as if OP didn't play against very recent CoB OC meta.

    Be freaking grateful that current killer meta encourages them not to camp or tunnel, spread hooks and is simply regressing gens a limited amount of times instead of slowing them down to eternity or making kicking them more efficient than chasing&hooking survivors.

    I don't often say that, but sounds like somebody is just entitled.

    I don't know if I'd call it boring. I think the devs struggle to make perks strong without making them incredibly annoying at the same time. See: Sloppy, pre-nerf Eruption/CoB.

    It goes for both side, most people wants to win, so they just use the strongest thing. Extend Gen time for Killers and extend chase time for Survivors.

    I noticed that the flaw on those is like this, there are alot of good perks combo to play (example for Flipflop, Tenacity, PowerStruggle..) that really hard to pull off even though its really fun. But if you dont pull off the combo at least twice in a match, you wasted your whole build, and its not efficient, and not helping your team. While you could slam on the old DS,DH,BT,UB each of them were useful on itself, really easy to use.

    Same to Killers, use perks combo, has to play a specific way to pull it off. Its really fun if you success, but waste everything if not. While Gen perks are like "play however you want, we give you more time to do it"

    • Jolt
    • STBFL
    • Enduring
    • Brutal Strength
    • Bamboozle
    • No Way Out
    • Discordance
    • Eruption
    • Fearmonger
    • Plaything
    • Franklin's

    and more...

    Fact that all killers are using 4 gen slowdown perks means a lot. It means you cannot win at all without them thanks to a bad game design.

    If a survivor plays perfectly, most killers cannot catch them in less than 2 minutes - that is the main problem with the game. Killers, beside Nurse/Blight, can only capitalize on survivors' mistakes, they cannot outplay the survivors with skill.

    That is why really good survivors can be chased for 2 minutes against really good killers and why streamers (even the Fog Whisperers) have to tunnel right at the start in their trials.

    So play killer and run off meta perks. I play killer and don't stack slowdowns and my games go just fine. Be the change you want to see in the world.

    You may not want to see the other reply from mine against multiple Swf and whip most of them with no slowdown Trapper.

    I find that survivors are expecting the killer to be meta so they bring their counters.

    Right now I'm having success with lethal pursuer, nurses calling, sloppy, and jolt. I'm not that good so if I get a good looper I break off and find someone else. If I get three or four good loopers then it's game over for me so I just chase and hit when I can.

    Reminder that pain res is still pretty much meta after the "shakedown" while surv perks are dead and none re-buffed to that level.

    If killer runs deadlock you know they won't leave that first hook and it pays off. At least pain res promotes going after different people I guess but regression is crazy regardless.

    Sloppy after healing nerfs is just a big NO from me. I find it weird how this is acceptable and it is the most annoying perk for me in current game as surv. Unless you have a syringe you can't ever heal yourself or you are throwing by wasting time.

    Now ask me again why people sit on gens and why they use adrenaline.


    Also it's funny how people cry genrush and their main complaint recently is mft and in general always chase perks.

    60% against potatoes doing their totem challenge, clicking all game, not trying to win, not even counting the suicides boosting the rates.

    gen speeds and time to down are both relative. shorter chases and slower gens both mean more time for more chases, either one out of balance leads to lowest common denominator strats being more necessary, hence the complaints and scummy strategies, just like you correctly posited healing nerfs led to more gen focus. Both sides adapt reactively.

    Meanwhile, while I play with random perks, I get the same boring survivor meta perks 80% ot the time (windows, adre, MFT, resilience etc). Imo, you cannot really blame killers for running "boring" meta perks, when they have to compete against full stacked survivors every other game.

    Finally someone actually gets that boring meta=/=kill every perk in it. I feel like the meta for killer was healthier pre 6.1.0. No braindead gen kick meta. More than 2 non killer specific good slowdown perks. At least ruin undying took two perk slots, and had no synergy with PGTW while they were active. original pain res was stupid busted though, even though it rewarded skill it was just too good

    Good were the days of Ruin, BBQ and Nurse's Calling as meta.

    No pain res, no undying. That was a meta I could get behind.

    I wasn't really under the impression bbq was meta. It's used a good amount, but I wouldn't even call it A tier.

    Don't worry I already know all killer perks are trash and surv perks are broken. That is why killer meta is always the same perks because they are trash. Lul.

    There are literally streamers who proved last week that you can 4k over 20 times in a row without any power (playing trapper without traps and add ons but with Pop+Pain Resonance). I barely lose as killer and i have played this game during times (2020) when i defo lost more games than i won. Killer doesn't "suck" right now, you can win fairly reliable if you play efficiently and use some of the better perks. MMR got gutted so we get shorter queue times, that's the reason. I haven't had this much of a skill discrepancy in my matches since i started playing this game.

    Pain Res is strong if used correctly. People only say this because they miss the times were perks would win them whole matches, but a perk should only support you and not be the sole reason you dominate a match. I'm not cool with all of their changes but i think the general idea of nerfing strong perks and buffing weak ones is fine, perks should complement your playstyle but their influence was way too high at times.

    There's a big difference between someone who plays 8 hours a day and someone who plays 4 hours every 2-3.days

    Well all the "good" perks have been nerfed into oblivion. Whats left is what killers use.

    For example: Undying Ruin was the healtiest slowdown combo this game ever had. Yet it was hated and ended up getting nerfed so hard, that Undying is only getting used to protect Devour Hope. And you only see Ruin, when someone forgot to change their build from 2017.

    Some changes of the past should definetly be rolled back.

    If meta is boring, then don't run meta. Running meta isn't a requirement. Gimmick builds are where it's at

    true, but THEORETICALLY you should get worse opponents than those "8 hours a day"-killers. The thing is that MMR doesn't really do it's job right now because they want to get you into a game as quickly as possible. I stand by my point that killer is fine right now, it's not like OP or something but it's not horrible to play either. The amount of death squads i had in the past weeks was next to nothing, i remember a game against 3 polish comp tourney players where i got destroyed because i did a challenge and that's it. I'm probably more experienced than the core of the current playerbase (4k hours) but i rarely play this game anymore, maybe 2-3 times a week for 1 hour, and i still win the majority of my killer matches.

    Survivor is a different thing (i escape maybe 1 out of 5 matches as solo player) but i don't want to start another "surv vs. killer balance" discussion so i leave it there.

    The game is boring to me anymore tbh. I don't know if I'm just burnt out or what but I honestly don't find dbd fun to play right now as the killer. Matches all the same, I either completely stomp the survivors, or the survivors completely stomp me. I rarely have exciting matches anymore or chases. I know I've been against MfT and I think I understand why I hate the perk even if it's not super strong. It's bc its so boring to go against. There really no mind games I can do as killer(as far as I know) to counter this perk and it's a pure speed increase perk. Maps don't help either because I'm tired of chasing survivors around tiles that are easy to chain together and losing more of the one gen in the background bc of it. Overall I just think I need a break from dbd. I picked up Hunt Showdown doing the stream sale and I have been loving it even when I get my ass kicked every match. At least it is fun to play around with the guns and ect. I'm also looking forward to getting the TCM game next month and trying it out, hopeful it be fun.

    I think healing nerfs were overkill definetely as was some killer nerfs as well like call of brian and ruin.
