What is the general opinion of Freddy?

I believe that most of his addons are outdated, and his power is lackluster compared to his abilities in the movies.

By lackluster I mean presentation wise not strength.

    A relic of past dbd.

Would need an overall upgrade. Visual, sounds, addons etc..

I think most people consider him a bottom three killer, he’s definitely lackluster in a lot of ways. He’s gotten power crept by multiple killers.

    Freddy is just boring.

    To play as and against.

Also i agree. He got massively nerfed from the Movies. But so did many other so that's fine ig.

    He is not really Freddy.

Freddy is a nightmare demon. The master of horror. Yet this game fails to depict him right. He is not scary in this game and is not trying to be scary at all. He should be able to do all sorts of things. He is almighty in his dreamworld , yet here it only gives him some lame powers. Also he should not be present outside of the dreamworld. Maybe only during the end game collapse the entity can pull him into reality if all survivors are awake.

But he needs a total visual and powers overhaul.

Should he be a chase killer similar in strength to Blight/Spirit/Wesker but only when asleep?

He could even be stronger. Not being able to chase survivors out of the dreamworld would be the balancing tradeoff. Also this would make him as canon as possible, almighty in dreams and powerless outside.

Freddy forgettable. You never really mad going up against him but it nothing about him to remember. His first iteration was the closest to what freddy power should've been. He been change so many times that the devs are just done with him i feel.

    and that ok

Extremely boring killer. I wish they incorporated the license into his power more. I wish he was more funny. Like when survivors use the alarm clock to wake up, he could trap it and have it turn into a mouth with a long tongue that licks that survivor's face and causes some kind of debuff. Maybe when he's teleporting to a gen, a Freddy could spawn on each side and you wouldn't be able to tell which is the real one (making it so he doesn't spawn directly next to a gen but within a few meters). Just little things like that could make it seem more like they actually got the license to A Nightmare on Elm Street. Because as it stands now he has zero personality and they chose Quentin as the survivor for some bizarre reason

Well, when I go against him solo q, we usually lose. I think only a few times we beat him, so maybe he is in an ok spot? I don't really know.

Started with everything, got reduced to nothing.

A sad tale of DBD, really. No one knows it better than I do.

useless power. Uninteractive power. Useless addons. Constant oblivious.

Simultaneously boring, useless, AND annoying to face

His power used to be fun and unique despite being weak. Now it’s boring and weak.

Worst add ons in the game.

None of his perks are worth running.

Outdated character model with terrible neck posture

No lobby animations, music, or voice lines.

    Only killer with no cosmetics.

He feels like a massive waste honestly. Nothing that makes him feel like Freddy Krueger and nothing that makes him stand out from the rest of the killers.

I think he’s tied with Pyramid Head for the worst add-ons in the game. The difference is Freddy’s base kit power does apply nearly as much pressure. I the his add-ons mainly need a rework and maybe some simple number buffs to his base kit.

I enjoy playing as Freddy, at least with fake pallets. His addons could use some buffs, maybe a shorter cooldown for gen teleport as well.

Combine Clown and Dredge, but he is worse than both of them.

Original Freddy was interesting, but reworked Freddy is a rather generic M1 killer with nothing particularly interesting about him.

I personally like Freddy but he is kinda weak. Too few traps to utilise on their utility such as snaring doorways for infomation as they get overridden and the addons are almost all gimicks with many redunent ones (We don't need 3 addons that do the same thing especially when many of them are already weak). I do like how you can now place snares through walls now as it makes his chase much more interesting now.

Freddy is an incredible dull Killer with a low Skill Floor and equally low Skill Ceiling. Basically, what you did in your first 3 games as Freddy will you do in the next 100 games of Freddy. Congrats, you mastered him.

He is not even a really weak Killer, he is better than some others and in general, every Killer can win against the majority of Survivors. He is just so boring.

The thing is that after the Rework, he was too strong for the effort he needed. Like, a toddler could have played him. So they nerfed Freddy (rightfully) since he was up there with Killers who took way more effort to play and learn for similar results. And in the end, the strength while being so easy to use was what made him popular, because gameplay-wise he was as boring right after the rework like he is now.

Basically, the Devs need to rework him again. They would have probable been fine with reworking old Freddy, adding some Tools from new Freddy and making him an overall really unique Killer. But overall, I dont really see that anyone ever said that they prefer new Freddy over old Freddy (when it comes to gameplay).

It's a license to a flop 2010 remake of Nightmare on Elm Street so they're probably more restricted with what they can do with Freddy and Quentin (when it comes to cosmetics, lobby music, voice lines etc).

I think they would have a lot more creativity and input if they had the original 1985 New Line license with Freddy and Nancy, especially since there's so many sequels with various looks over the years. It would also be extremely cool if they had Robert Englund do voice lines for him since OG Freddy has so many one liners.

Gamplay wise, I loved release Freddy where he had to grab survivors into the Dreamworld but was invisible when they were awake. I wish the devs kept that concept but just made the transition to Dreamworld quicker.
