3-Gen - Boring Game Mechanic

If survivors get 3-gen'd, the game becomes sooo boring. I implore the devs to think of something for this situation to make it less boring. DCing/Suicide on hook is so much less of a penalty than sticking around and continuing to play in such a situation.

Also, I understand that "survivors do it to themselves." But sometimes they don't. We have a plethora of teleporting killers and killers who can quickly get across the map now. So, three gens are becoming more common. Due to such killers, 3-genning happens even when the gens aren't right next to each other. In other words, non 3-gen situations of the past, are now 3-gen situations.

I've also played as Killer in these situations... and... BOOORRRIIINNNGG... the game ceases and it becomes a slog for every participant in the match.

Usually, I have a solution to suggest on these feedback posts... but I haven't thought that much into it. Just thought I'd post about how a certain situation makes DBD unplayable and boring... and thought maybe, just maybe.. the devs can put their heads together to think up a way to put a stop to this incredibly boring mechanic, which makes their game a slog and unenjoyable.

If 3-gens are removed, how do you address the Killers who take advantage of that more by happenstance as a result of low map presence with regards to their Power?

Low gen counts usually mean it’s easier to patrol for Killers with less mobility, however that is only the case if the gens are close together.

Do you like widening the MMR gap between what Killers Survivors see?

I suppose if you really like playing against Blight and/or Wesker all the time, this would be a boon.

A killer cant hold a 3gen from start to finish if you just break it early. What, you are gonna need to do it later anyway might as well do it now and win. If everyone just sits on gens constantly then the net progress is larger than the regression. And if the killer commits to anyone they lose like half a gen on all 3 if you split up. So thats like 2-3 hooks if you play efficiently. Even soloQ can do this if they know its the best option, and if they dont its a skill issue not an issue with the mechanic.

dead dawg needs better gen spread though, leris too.

Also if we remove 3 genning what is left for the killer to even do?

Playstyles/strategies actively discouraged/punished now or the future

all you really end up with is hit and run + getting everyone to 2 hooks before killing. And I see survivors complain about how boring hit and run is all the time.

It's about to get more boring with the PTS nerf. Woohoo.

"When a 3 gen occurres, 1 random gen gets resurrected, all progress on any gen reverted and the 4 gens get newly distributed again, somewhat close to each other, but not 3 gening on their own."

Lol, don't get your hopes up, this was just a throwaway possible solution I came up in the spur of the moment. Actually dead survivors and finished gens should not resurrect, never ever

Macro play around generators getting completely removed would just make the game worse. Will there just be no strategy at all for stopping/repairing generators how do you "remove" 3 gens on most of the maps?

Part of the 3 gen problem are survivors that run away from a generator as soon as they hear a terror radius (or lullaby), and by the time the killer reaches that generator, the survivors are so far away that it's not worth chasing them.

If killers are supposed to chase a survivor instead of just defending an area, they need to be able to actually get into close range chases in a reasonable timeframe, which sometimes can't happen if survivors are allowed to excessively hide or excessively pre-leave generators.

Well, but that's also how you beat 3-gen.

You just need more survivors doing this on different gens. Then you will finish gen or killer is forced to commit sooner or later.

They mentioned they are working on something for 3 genning and in the mean time they buffed Deja Vu. They are aware now if they follow through and when are the two things we don't know.

And that's part of the problem BHVR needs to fix. The 3-gen problem needs to be fixed for both sides, instead of just being a "nerf the killer only" problem.

Exactly... at this rate... Killer's just might as well Give up Killin Survivor and not do the best means to kill faster. If Chase is what matters, and not gen dwfense; then Flippin Buff killer significantly so that they end chase in less then 30 seconds at this rate.

Me playing Killer frequently, With occasional Survivor play (solo); I always bothers me that Survivor would literally complain just about everything Killer does in order for them to win.... If they are going to scream NERFS to just about everything they dislike killers doing; I want Compensate and decent BUFFS in exchange for removing "TOXIC" playstyle that allow killer to win efficiently.

So far, alot of people are going to disagree or suggest outlandish nerfs without so much as good quality of life improvement to killers that lack the capability to win without perks or decent maps to fit their playstyle.

I'm actually kind of curious as to what makes you think it's cool to try to whittle away everything the killer can do to stop survivors.
